Bank PINs are a new feature that keeps your RuneScape bank account locked away by using a 4-digit code. This is a useful safety measure that protects you and will keep your items safe for up to 3 days, should anyone ever gain access to your account.

Getting a PIN

Getting a PIN

A bank PIN can be obtained from any of the various banks in RuneScape. Just speak to a Banker and select the "I'd like to check my PIN settings." option.

This will open up a screen for setting your PIN. Now select the "Yes, I really want a bank PIN, I will never forget it!" option to start the process of setting up your new PIN.

You'll now be able to choose a 4-digit PIN number to use. Make sure that it's something that you'll never forget, and that no one else will be able to guess it. Here are some tips of what not to use:

Your birthday or year.
Your phone number.

Use something random, but be sure that you'll remember it! Enter in the number that you'd like to use by clicking the numbers, and then you'll need to confirm it by entering it again. You'll see at the top of the screen are 4 question marks, which will change into asterisks when you type.

And that's it! you've set your PIN.

How Long Will it Take?

Of course, there's a waiting period before your PIN will become active. It will take 7 days from the time you initially set your PIN until it becomes active. If you decide during this time that you don't want your PIN, you can cancel by clicking on the "Cancel the PIN that's pending." button.

What Next?

Once you're PIN has become active, you'll need to enter it when you wish to access your bank, or when you try and access your Player Owned house, if you're a Member. It only needs to be entered once per log-in session, and only when you access your bank. If you log out and then back in, you'll need to enter it again.

You'll also be able to set the different options, such as the recovery delay time. You can also change or remove your PIN. You can do this by selecting the "I'd like to check my PIN settings."option as you did to set your PIN the first time. Then enter your PIN number and you'll see a PIN Settings menu.

The "Change your PIN" option will allow you to change your PIN to a different number, while the "Delete your PIN" option will completely remove the PIN from your account. Finally, the "Change your recovery delay" option will toggle the delay for setting your PIN to either 3 days or 7 days.
