Fur 'n' Seek Part Ii

Posted by Gerasimos, Yesterday, 09:56 AM

I was always confused why Jagex didn’t make the follow up optional quest for old bone man count as actual separate quests. But I guess I would have been without my quest cape for a really long time if they had counted them (or just have gotten it). But today marks the day when I should have gotten my quest cape if they counted.

Now I hadn’t bothered to go hunting for any of the bones for the fur’ n’ seek follow up since I lacked the slayer level to get it until twelve days ago. Well needless to say once I hit 78 slayer I ended up with the bone I couldn’t get my hands on. But I still needed a bunch of bones from various monsters strewn across Runescape. So I headed off on my merry adventure killing camels in the desert; snakes in the jungle; and kyatts in the frozen hunting areas. Well before long I only had one bone left to get, the femur of a large follower of Bandos. Well I figured soloing a GWD boss was a little absurd at my current level. So I decided to go do the next best thing, Bork in the chaos tunnels. Well I geared up, grabbed a bunch of potions, and headed down to kill him.

It wasn’t that long ago since I was last there but it seemed like ages since I last set foot in Bork’s room. The one and only time I had visited Bork before that day was to unlock While Guthix Sleeps. I chewed through almost all of my monkfish on that expedition and barely managed to get the kill. This time however it was a completely different story. First of all, my good friend Surok was no longer there. He had been replaced by a high ranking Zamorak mage. But the biggest change in the encounter this time around was my character. I came in with better prayers; better gear; better stats; and got to work. Well it turns out Bork was no longer an issue and I flattened him before his mage buddy could get more than five monkfish out of me. But to my great disappointment the femur bone did not drop and I was forced to wait another day.

12 days and 12 Bork kills later……

A femur bone finally dropped. Well needless to say I was ecstatic. I gloried down to Draynor Village and began loading all the bones out of my bank and into the vinegar I had just gotten. After ending up with a nice stack of twenty bones in pots and a fleece I grabbed my hatchet and tinderbox and ran down to the rag and bone man and started finishing the polishing process. Before too much longer I had finished cleaning and turning in all the bones. It was at this point that the rag and bone man and his sniggering sack began instructing me to go behind his house to view the finished exhibit.

Of course I had read up on what was about to happen so I decided to take a little detour to my bank to get a nice big stack of pots and sharks before “Viewing the exhibit”. Well as it would turn out I had come way too prepared for my upcoming fight. Most of it was due to luck though. I potted up; turned on my prayer; and stepped into the ring. Well after a short cut scene a giant skeletal horror was charging down on me. But before I even really knew what was happening my auto retaliate had combined with the over poweredness that is a salve amulet(e) and I had landed back to back 33’s and an arm was flying across my screen. I ran over to the arm and discovered that I had no inventory space so I ate a shark and then grabbed the arm and shoved it in the ground. Well the fight just kept going down-hill for the poor skeletal horror. And before long I landed the final blow and the old man was asking me to meet him at the bottom of the hill.

I have no idea what is going on but I am wining.

I headed down the hill and was expecting to get my reward and have my bonesack enchanted when the rag and bone man informed me that I was a downer child and had left my bonesack in the bank. A short bank detour later and I was back and had finished my last (unofficial) quest.

It seems so long ago that I was struggling through the first part of the rag and bone man quest line. I remember how difficult it was for me to get a bone from Lumbridge swamp caves. Back then it was a struggle to stay alive in there as I did everything wrong such as bringing a candle instead of a lantern. I went the wrong way completely and crashed into a cave slime which exploded on my candle putting me at half health and leaving me in the dark. I stumbled blindly through the caves and began panicking when the bugs started attacking me. It was at this point that I ran into a wall monster that finished me off. Now I have ten sapphire lanterns in my bank and can’t even imagine death as a possibility of visiting those caves. I realize I have reached a point in the game that I never thought I would even come close to in just a few months. And more importantly it makes me wonder how far I will get in the coming months as well. Will I look back at this day soon and consider it my noob days? Only time will tell.

Exam Number 2

On your travels through Runescape you find yourself at the Duel arena. However it is not the duel arena world so only one other person is there. He is wearing a violet afro and a quest cape but has no other visible gear, not even a weapon. Behind him stretches a long line of fires that he is adding too. What do you do?

A. You run over and challenge him to a duel since he is clearly there to duel and not train firemaking. He ignores you so you talk some smack and challenge him again only to find he has turned his trade and public off and can not see any challenges.

B. You run over and try and challenge him but he has his trade turned off so you can not. But this does not stop you, oh no, you add him to your friends and send him a tell to turn trade on. This results in him turning his friends to private.

C. You run over and try to challenge him only to discover his trade is not on. Clearly he is botting so you report him for disruptive behavior.

D. You run over and try to challenge him and discover you can not and spend the next 5 minutes following him around trying to get a duel. He finally gets fed up with you following him; turns on trade; initiates a duel; and beats you into the ground via a combination of violet afro, quest cape and fists since he is level 110 and you are level 30.

E. You decide to leave the violet afro man alone since he is probably busy leveling. You hop worlds to the duel arena world and destroy many a noob.

My Favorite Skiller

Posted by Gerasimos, Nov 14 2009, 07:31 PM

I never really was concerned with e-famous people and didn’t pay all that much attention to them. And let’s face it, getting spammed by admirers all day long asking you to add them must be the most annoying thing to deal with while playing. However there was one person who I was seriously impressed with. And believe it or not it was a level three skiller. And I never thought I would actually run into her.

I found myself leveling my skills for the Seers’s Village hard diary once again last night and the skill of the night was cooking. So I bought a couple hundred raw lobsters and headed over to my favorite cooking spot, the rouge’s den. Well I have been hanging out on the 1000 total level plus worlds as of late and a lot of places such as the rogues den are packed on these worlds. And before long I found myself in a stack of fifteen people roughly cooking away. Now if you right click a stack of fifteen people the level threes are going to get pushed off the bottom of the screen so you won’t be able to see them. Well at some point during my fine culinary adventure of standing in a fire while cooking on the same fire the banker decided to wander away so that we all had to start running to him. As someone was running over to the banker I saw a slayer cloak on their back. Well I hovered over them to see who had accomplished the impressive feat of 99 slayer and gotten my dream cloak. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the name. And even though I had read about this person seeing a level three in a slayer cloak still blew my mind.

It was my favorite skiller unknownlevs. Now I run with public chat turned off a lot of the time but I decided to turn it on to see if she was saying anything. Well there was a huge commotion about her having 99 slayer to which someone was explaining that she had used rings of recoil (god people are dumb) even though she had spent the better part of six months in soul wars. She didn’t say anything so I assumed she had her public chat turned off (I would if I was her) so I turned off the chat so I didn’t have to see anything else about rings of recoil.

While I know at least one other person has gotten the level 3 with 99 slayer it’s still no less impressive and she was the first to get it. Anyways, good luck to her in getting the rest of the 99’s.

Me getting outshined by a level 3 while I sport my afro and quest cape

And this just cracked me up while I was leveling fishing earlier. I ended up helping the guy out since he made me laugh.

It's Raining Gold

Posted by Gerasimos, Nov 9 2009, 09:32 PM

So normally I don’t have the best of luck with drops and clue scrolls. This past week I have been on fire however. On Tuesday I decided to knock back a couple of barrow runs before I got around to doing some slayer. Normally I just run about five runs to start off the day before getting on with my slayer training. However this week I was cut short at my second run as I pulled this bad boy out of the chest.

Now seeing as I was so lucky that day I figured I would see just how far my luck could really go. Well after fixing up another pot of coffee to get the day started (no the day does not start till pot number two) I returned to my comp to find that my Dharok's helm had already sold for max price. I quickly banked the gold and headed back to canfis through my house portal. Well as I landed in the Canfis bar I could not help but notice a bunch of people gathered around a rock outside of the bank. So I quickly grabbed my pick and went to work on the crashed star. The star was only level two but being an early riser and it still being fairly early in the morning I managed to get over 150 dust before the star fell apart and E.T. came out. Well I banked my rewards from the crashed star and headed back off to the barrows and squeezed in my last three runs before heading off to my Tuesday morning class.

Me hard at work on the star (top right)

Well Saturday rolled around and I decided I had some slayer to do, I like to mix it up after all. I managed to grind out my remaining 40k exp to level 78. Well I was pretty pumped about hitting level 78; after all it meant I could finish the optional part of fur ‘n’ seek. But I figured I would wait till I was assigned Aquanites before I got the final bone. As it turned out I would not be waiting long, I was assigned 196 of them as my next task. Well after killing about a grand total of three Aquanites I was debating if I should cancel them in future. I kept at it though and somewhere in the middle of my task a clue scroll dropped. Seeing as I was low on supplies I decided it was a good time to do the scroll and restock on monkfish.

Well as with all clue scrolls it just wouldn’t do if I wasn’t sent to opposite ends of the universe every other clue. I was first assigned to do an emote clue for Uri all the way down in Sopanhem and then sent up to the level 35 wilderness. The clue Scroll from the wilderness of course sent me back to Sopanhem to do the same emote clue. Well after dancing around in front of the pyramid a second time my new clue scroll decided to send me back to the wilderness level 53. To cut a long story of running myself ragged short I eventually found myself behind the axe hut in the deep wilderness fighting a mage of zamorak. After killing the mage I struck my spade down again and pulled up the chest with my reward to my scroll. Unfortunately I am very bad at life and in my excitement of seeing my reward I forgot to take a screenshot. But here is a shot of the reward in my inventory.

A robin hood hat. Well needless to say that made my day. But it was still early so I headed back to the Aquanites and finished off the last of the dreaded task. I activated my Karamja gloves and ran to the fishing hut and up the stairs to get my new task. And I got the hook up, gargoyles. I love gargoyles; great blue charm drop rate; clue scrolls drop off them; and they have some pretty hefty weapon and armor drops. Well right as I was running out of food another clue scroll dropped. I figured that by now however my luck had run dry; after all I am a pesemist. But I figured I would go head and do the scroll just in case it was the third age armor scroll. Well it wasn’t third age armor. But I will not complain about a guthix helm tongue.gif.

Well I headed back to the slayer tower and up to the third floor to finish off the last handful of gargoyles. It was only around 50 gargoyles and I didn’t get another clue scroll drop but I guess the rest of the drops were ok tongue.gif

So by now I was up over 10 million in one week. This of course called for some spending. So I headed down to the Grand Exchange and put in a bid for some shiny new armor. Now I guess it is my lucky day and the armor I got must be crashing. Because I got well under normal price saving me a couple hundred thousand gold.

So now I may be the only person on Runescape wearing Bandos chestplate and sporting some runeplate legs at the same time. I am seriously considering training in my Verac’s skirt since I may be the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in this game. Ok, well I have seen some retarded things so maybe not (thinks back upon Castlewars and Pest Control adventures). It’s nice now that I can stop saving up for the armor and I can spend on things like my house and summoning again; I have been looking forward to adding a throne room smile.gif. Anyways I am back to slaying to round up some more cash. So you can find probably find me in the slayer tower or the chaos tunnels listening to ACDC and G'n'R so loud that my chair is vibrating. Here is to hoping I get another week like last one.

Castle Wars Exam

Posted by Gerasimos, Nov 3 2009, 07:44 PM

You are a level 80 with a nice set of rune chain and some leather gloves. You find yourself standing at the enemy flag capture point waiting for their flag to spawn. Beside you stands a level 138 in full bandos with a divine spirit shield. Suddenly the enemy flag appears on the stand. The game is tied up at six to six, what do you do?

A: Take the flag before the level 138 since you are clearly the better flag carrier. Shortly after which you are mowed down by an angry god sword and d claw wielding mob. You lose this game 7 to 6.

B: Let the level 138 take the flag and collect two tickets shortly afterwards

C: It does not really matter since someone took the enemy flag and hid in a corner with it for the first 15 minutes of the game and I lied the score was 0 to 8.

D: You were dreaming and are not actually playing castle wars and your day was a lot better off.

E: You are actually no where near the flag and are hard at work setting up barricades in the middle of the supply room.
