To visit Canting Away, log into Runescape and click on the chat channel icon (a group of yellow people). Type in: Merch Gwyar. Everyone is welcome. We're a very informal group of people, of all ages, skills, combat levels and interests. You'll equally find people killing cows straight off Tutorial Island to those soloing Corp; you'll find skillers, PKers and everyone in between, all canting away, while we do our thing. Canting = chatting in local slang. It's a chat channel in the very literal sense of that. biggrin.gif

The Never-Ending Well Saga

It is permissable to kick:

1, Anyone spamming repeatedly, by which I mean '@@@@@@@@@@' or 'plz plz plz plz' or any unacceptable repetition of someone's name. Anything which renders conversation impossible, because the eight lines are being filled with one person posting such things. Discretion should be used. Mid-quest, it's quite feasible that someone will post 'omg!', followed by a second line of 'omg!' before calming enough to flesh out the detail.

2, Anyone being racist, homophobic, sexist, attacking individuals solely on their creed, culture, religion, disabilities or special needs, combat and skills level, mode of playing (f2p or p2p) or economics.

Otherwise, I see no need to kick anyone. No kicking should happen without clear and understood warnings; no kickings should happen whilst I am in the room, as, if it's needful, then I'm quite capable of doing it myself.

Attention Bloggers

I read about this in Runescape Reader. icey_dan1 is looking to gather information on the Runescape blogging community. That's us! biggrin.gif Just thought I'd give you the head's up.

When posting, it would help a bunch if you could also mention anything worthwhile i could include in the video? Maybe you could give your own opinion on why you started blogging, and what you get out of it. And also some tips to players who also wish to blog for runescape.

I started blogging because I could. Here at Sal's, you get the right to blog after posting so many times on the forum. I love writing and so this was just an excuse really. tongue.gif

My blog gives me somewhere to record my achievements and to vent when it all goes wrong. It's also a chronicle of my progress. I can go back two or three years and remember what it was like to not have the levels that I do now. Some things become so clear in hindsight too. Help that I received from a higher level and I was so pleased and honoured. Now I'm here at that same level and seeing it from the other point of view. It makes me smile.

My blog is also good for helping other people pass the same milestones. They can learn from my mistakes, certainly, but it's also somewhere to direct people. For example, I had someone in game ask me about Recruitment Drive. It's been years since I did that quest. I was struggling to even remember which quest it was. I did a search in my blog though and read all about it. Then I could advise them in-game. I always try to ensure that I write down all of my armour and equipment too, as I'm not going to remember what I took and packed two years later, when someone is asking me what to take with them. tongue.gif

The biggest tip that I could give is that, if you're writing a Runescape blog, then your readers are coming to read about Runescape. My entire life doesn't revolve around Merch Gwyar, but this blog might make it look like it does. I only write about Runescape related things here. While writing about gaining levels is good for your own record, it might not be all that interesting to other people. Try to think of something that happened that was interesting or funny or exhilarating en route to that level. A better blog might be, 'I was in Fally Bank and I overheard this player say to another one.... blah blah blah', then at the end of your story say, 'Oh and, by the way, I got 'x' level in fishing'. That sort of thing.

Above all though, a blog should be fun for you to write. Otherwise, there's no point in writing it. biggrin.gif
