To visit Canting Away, log into Runescape and click on the chat channel icon (a group of yellow people). Type in: Merch Gwyar. Everyone is welcome. We're a very informal group of people, of all ages, skills, combat levels and interests. You'll equally find people killing cows straight off Tutorial Island to those soloing Corp; you'll find skillers, PKers and everyone in between, all canting away, while we do our thing. Canting = chatting in local slang. It's a chat channel in the very literal sense of that. biggrin.gif

The Never-Ending Well Saga

It is permissable to kick:

1, Anyone spamming repeatedly, by which I mean '@@@@@@@@@@' or 'plz plz plz plz' or any unacceptable repetition of someone's name. Anything which renders conversation impossible, because the eight lines are being filled with one person posting such things. Discretion should be used. Mid-quest, it's quite feasible that someone will post 'omg!', followed by a second line of 'omg!' before calming enough to flesh out the detail.

2, Anyone being racist, homophobic, sexist, attacking individuals solely on their creed, culture, religion, disabilities or special needs, combat and skills level, mode of playing (f2p or p2p) or economics.

Otherwise, I see no need to kick anyone. No kicking should happen without clear and understood warnings; no kickings should happen whilst I am in the room, as, if it's needful, then I'm quite capable of doing it myself.

Random Player Events

Posted by Merch Gwyar, Jun 19 2009, 01:43 PM in Observations

I've always loved spontaneous street theatre. The sort of thing that isn't planned, but happens anyway.

The one I witnessed today was in the GE. It started with a single player with an attack skillcape. She did the emote and landed with a 'lol'. Almost immediately, a second player, in an identical cape, ran across and they had a couple of attempts at synchronising the emote. They'd just got it sorted, when a third Attack Skillcape wearer joined then, then another. By the end of it, eight of them were in a row all trying to synchronise the Attack skillcape emote. The best they managed was seven together and one out of synch, though each time, it was a different one.

There was quite a crowd now. A player in a Woodcutting Skillcape joined the end, chopping wood in his emote, while another in a Range Skillcape quickly joined the other end. Another player, named Kyle, stood just in front of the row with his Quest Cape. This was patently my cue, so I raced to his side and we were attempting to synchronise ours then. The Ranger and Woodcutter joined our mini row, stepping either side, with that massive line of Attackers behind us. We never were all in time and someone in a Runecrafting cape stood there alching in front of us without joining in.

It only lasted about a minute or so, but it was quite a sight. People dispersed laughing and most of the Attackers took their capes off to swop them for other capes before they reached the bank. Apparently the original Attack emote woman hadn't clue who all these people were. It was just a case of various players taking time out from their merchanting to join in a flash spectacle, then fading back into the mass of people.

Much fun. biggrin.gif
