Hmm...maybe because Macs use UNIX? I also found that Ubuntu shutsdown very fast (around 5-10 seconds).

Ubuntu was pretty slow for me. 2.2 ghz amd 64 x2
I highly doubt that it takes 1 sec to shut down.

With that processor I can load Ubuntu in 20-25 seconds and shut it down in like 10.

Takes about 45 secs to start up, 1 sec to shut down.

Are you holding down the power button or what? huh.gif

That's insane for a shutdown...

Actually no, I'm shutting it down properly. smile.gif

I click shutdown, a second later it's turned off.

That's one thing I love about my computer.

You sure you're not clicking some kind of sleep button, where everything just fades to black and seems like it's been turned off?

I'm quite positive that I'm not tongue.gif

Menu -> Shutdown -> Hit enter -> Bam.

Still completely doubting you. 1 second shutdown times are impossible and extremely unrealistic. You sure it's a real shutdown and not the monitor/power supply issues? slanty.gif

And it's not the time it takes to get from the desktop to the shutdown screen if that's what you were implying...

Hmm now I am curious... I'll shut it down right as this posts.... then reboot and edit my post so my post and edit times are shown to give a more accurate count

hmmm when I logged back in to sals it sais my last post was "A minute ago " I wonder if the times will be different?
Judging by my time it took roughly 55-60 seconds for a reboot with

XP Pro svc.3 3.8 ghz pentium dualcore 4 gb ddr2ram
