How would I go about upgrading a notebook? I'm looking to update the video card and maybe the processor.
I have a Dell notebook, and I've heard some people say that it's easier to upgrade a Dell notebook than other notebooks, mainly because Dell has this "Dell Slot" on it's motherboard or something that other notebooks don't have. Is this true? |

You can only upgrade the RAM and hard drive in a notebook basically. I look up this 'Dell slot' though, who knows

Start > run > dxdiag > display > what video card do you have.
First off, if you're integrated you can't. If you have dedicated and it is possible to switch out (as long as it's not soldered to the mobo), then I don't know where you'd be able to go and buy one. Fence is wrong. This post has been edited by redmonke: Jun 28 2009, 04:56 PM |

I have never hear of a removable/upgradable laptop graphics card EDIT: after googling, it's only in expensive gaming/desktop replaceent laptops, which I doubt an old Dell would be. Especially compared to most other laptops. This post has been edited by redmonke: Jun 28 2009, 05:05 PM |

I checked out this benchmark list, and I noticed that my card was halfway down the list. I'm trying to get something more high-end, as I'm not getting the FPS that I'm looking for on some of my games. |

I'm trying to get something more high-end, as I'm not getting the FPS that I'm looking for on some of my games. Here's a GeForce 7900. That's all I could find, but yours probably performs better than it. Edit: No this seems to be better. This post has been edited by redmonke: Jun 28 2009, 05:24 PM |
