We need some help in comics. That's my position, and I have notied that I seem to be the only one post comics right now.

Maybe I should get back to making comics............. I never made one for the newspaper yet.

Write about them. (I'm not in the staff, but I've found out in my appelication)

For graphics we don't really need anybody to make graphics. I think Tox and Drolleke (and maybe me a bit) might be working on a new layout for the paper, and other than that graphics is really just writing about graphics. And I think four people (Tox, Drolleke, Cook, and me) is enough for that.

If you can think of something original to add, though, we'd love to have you.

I wasn't in when the first issue came out. I joined shortly after #1 was released.

I think there should be a cut off? The newspaper is meant to be a different thing to the forums completely yet it seems that the most well known members are just going to the newspaper? Not that i object to this but they should continue the excellent job they are doing on the forums and let us do our thing on the paper?

Strongly agreed that interviews should not focus on "famous" members of the forum.
However, the Newspaper is a "Slams project" therefore it has to have something about the forums no?(okay, thats just on interviews )

And if some well-known forumers are Staff here and on the Newspaper (eg, Master Neverdead, Steve, Meen, DLA, Newberson, Venom etc), why can't they do a good job on both instead of being told to "continue the excellent job they are doing on the forums and let us do our thing on the paper"??

Or are you saying that "well-known" people should not be allowed to apply for jobs in the Paper?
How fair is that?
Many of the beginning staff for this revival of the Newspaper were "well-known" members and even Staff of these forums too.

That said... like Lordo pointed out, isn't there a cut off to the number of Staff? Although with the recent retirements it does make sense that you're looking for applicants. Shouldn't they be made to show what they can do?

Applicants on the fist paper had to do a piece of work after all and applications were closed once the paper has enough people.

Yeah im not telling them not to join at all, but if they are to busy trying to get there articles into shape etc they wont be able to have as much time keeping the forums going and the posts fresh, because they do commit to a large portion of posts...

We're doing that. It isn't explained here, but you need to post an example of your work for us to see. If its good, we'll accept you. If it isn't, we won't. Applications havn't been cut off (except for graphics and interviews) because we are still interested in more staff for those sections.

If it is of a high enough quality, then there is a possibility that it will appear in a future issue. If there are other articles/stories that are of higher quality then they will go in instead.

I'll go through the applications now. Section Heads should be accepting people for their sections, but it has taken a while to get section heads for the three sections that still need them (should be done in a day or two). Until then, I guess I'll do the accepting.

Same with me i applied for the comic staff eveybody is getting accepted above me but not me.

Generally I don't like to accept people. I would rather leave it to the section head because they know more of what they are looking for in their section than I do. And we now have heads for RS Discussion (Neo Avatars), Forum and Site Discussion (Gillis), and, once he accepts, Jamie will be the Nonfiction head. That should help with the sections without heads.

Jamie is also the comics head. He hasn't been on for a few days so you'll have to wait for him to get on for a reply from him. Sorry for all the delays (with all applications).

Creamers, not to be a complete flamer, i cant actually see you getting a position! Sorry to say it but when you were in the spamming days alot of your posts were riddled with typos...

Lol there is no reasoning for a warn! All i did was make a statement, and it was neither untrue nor offensive. All i said was your a bad speller, and then you go and admit it, and the post admitting it is riddled with Typos and punctuation mistakes!

they haven't. we will decide when they close and there isn't a set date so they may close at any time

Lordo, we can handle all of this. We will close applications when we feel its necessary. And what does Ska music have to do with anything? This topic is about the paper, not your music tastes.
