Introduction
Welcome to Pixel Tippery, if you are in need of help with pixel work this is the place to post. In this topic you will find a collection of guides made here on Sal's by Sal's members. If you can't find what your looking for in the guides or you want more help/info then post your question and let the other members answer.
For example. SUPERLEETKILLACOP wants to pixel and he does really well but he needs to know how to pixel sky and clouds. So what SUPERLEETKILLACOP does is clicks on this topic and looks through the guides. However he dosn't find enough information so what he can do is post here asking for help. Then anyone who knows a good technique such as SUPERLEETPIXELKILLER could post how he would pixel a sky. But, another member, ILIKEPWNCHICKENCOP could have a different way of pixeling sky he finds better so he posts that. So then SUPERLEETKILLCOP has two ways he could pixel sky and he could use what he finds easier or he could merge them together.
Rules:
No flaming other peoples techniques.

People don't normally post about anything pixel related anywhere in the Graphics section apart from in here.
I get afew PM's from people asking for tips, I'm sure that this will be helpful.

the rubber trick

Say you want the Black Sqaure to turn blue.

Set the Primary Colour to Black and your Secondary Colour to what ever you want it to be, in this case blue.

Then while holding right click drag it over the sqaure and

Ok, can anyone tell me the best and easiest ways to draw plants/grass/trees that don't look flourescent and cartoony (looking for real looking ones here)
And can anyone help me to draw people's faces at an angle in proportion?

for grass i'd get a photo of grass and get about 3-5 different greens from the photo, then colour the entire floor in one colour, then (this bit is tedious) using your other greens draw individual grass blades all over the image. Use your colours of grass to show shadow or movement or just to make it look more like idividual blades of grass. When you do this you can be as random as you possibly want to.

Also hold Shift while dragging for:
Circle - Perfect Circle
Sqaure - Perfect Sqaure
Line - Straight Line
I can see this working, soon the whole world will know how to pixel

NVM sorry for the post, I already knew that trick.
On topic: For grass I use this techniche:
FIrst you get a single color of green(or the color of grass you want, Purple O.o)
Then you grab the spray tool and choose like 4 colors of greens. You spray with the bigger spray all over the grass.
If you want to put people, first do teh step above, then do your guy, and on the boots, feet, hand, body, etc you draw blades of grass to make it looks mroe realistic, of course with differents tones of green.

When shading something with quite a significant light source, don't just stick to say for example the light pink palette for white skin. Vary the hue a bit, so you might be using purple tones in shaded places and yellowish tones in lit places when the sun is the light source. The same applies with fire, except you might find yourself using peachy orange in light spots and brown/violet in dark areas.
edit: I've just thought that you could add an advice hall of fame with help and tips from this topic quoted under certain titles.

Joe The Twin
Apr 6 2007, 11:25 AM
Well my idea was, use all the help in one topic rather than taking up the entire pixel studio. Also not much people ask for pixel help in the actual graphics help forum.
Not to mention the tutorials having somewere to go rather than being posted every odd topic.

One thing I don't like about making a topic which hands out help is that some people's ways of pixeling contrasts with that of others.
Joe The Twin
Apr 6 2007, 12:27 PM
So? How is that a bad thing? Multipul guides gives people a choice and if some points are the same they know one system works because 2 people agree it does. Also if people get things different thiers a choice.
