It appears when I try to play any media file on the internet, so now I can't watch videos or listen to music.

I think it means you don't have the right program to play the videos in question, but Im not sure, you'll have to ask somebody more tech literate than me.

I personally think Creamers is right or there is a error in the file.

Creamers was right I also think. You may have deleted the file but not got rid of the icon. That has happened to me before.

I disagree. He said he gets this on every file he trys to play from the internet. Open up another media program such as Windows Media Player and set the options within it to make WMP the default for those type of files.

This icon appears when you don't have Quicktime installed on your computer.
Download and Install Quicktime for Apple to fix this problem.

Okay now the icon is gone but I have that message that says my flash player isn't up to date. Though when I go to download the update the movie that is suppose to appear while you are downloading the program suddenly disappears and the download screen doesn't show.

When you are updating your Flash player, there is not a progress bar that shows there is anything being downloaded or installed. After about 5 minutes or so, the white area should change to "Installed." You just have to be patient, though the white area is quite decieving because it makes you think whether or not anything is happening.

Quicktime player, the file can't be found on the webserver.
EG. runescape.salmoneus.net/video.avi dosn't exsist, but the code for the media player still does, so quicktime can't recognize the file, so it displays a "?" to know that the file is either corrupt or not on the webserver.
I think this might be the error, if not try another site using quicktime.

If you don't have Quicktime or it is disabled, that is what you will get when you try to play a file that needs it.

That means the encoding on the MOV or MPG is corrupt or damaged. If your using Safari 3 Beta you might need to get the new QuickTime for it, The new safari needs the new quicktime and QT plug in for it to work or well at-least mine.
