Sal's Forum Chat Rules and Info

With the release of the in-game "Clan Chat", we have decided to set up our own channel for members to chat while in-game. It's quite convenient considering you don't need a separate client to access it (so you can chat without disturbing your game), and it will make organizing future events easier. Of course, there are a few things that need to be made clear regarding our chat and chats in general (on this forum).

Accessing the Chat
You can access the chat from any server, any place in RuneScape. Simply click on the Clan Chat icon next to the Friends List icon, and type in "Salmoneus". To talk in the channel, simply type a "/" (forward slash) before your text.

It's worth noting that you can only join one chat channel at a time, and to chat in another you'll need to click on the "Leave Chat" Button below the online list.

Chat Moderators

The chat staff will be made up of all of the admins, moderators and the DMs as well as the Retired Staff.
  • Admin = Generals
  • Moderators + Retired Staff = Captains
  • Distinguished Members = Lieutenants
  • Clan Chat Forum Member = Sergeants
Their main job is to keep order in the chat, and have the ability to kick members who break the rules in the chat.

Chat Rules & Guidelines

Our rules are pretty simple:
  • No swearing or discrimination of any kind. Inappropriate ASCII art (images made with characters) isn't allowed either.
  • You may not disrespect any member (or staff member) in the chat.
  • No spamming of any kind.
  • No advertising - this means no real-world item trading, and no account trading. You're more than welcome to advertise selling/buying in the game (moderately). You can advertise your own Clan Chatroom, but within reason.
  • You may not flood the room with text of any kind, including adverts for selling/buying items or your own Clan Chatroom.
  • If you have been kicked from the chat, you're not allowed to access it using another account. Doing so will get your secondary accounts kick-banned too.
  • Complaining about previous bans or other banned members in the clan chat is not allowed. Please contact staff via forums pm or in-game pm.
Threads about bans will be immediately closed.
  • Forum or Jagex staff impersonation is not allowed at all.
  • Clan Chat Moderators are allowed to impose temporary rules according to the current chat circumstances.
  • Naturally, all RuneScape and Jagex rules not mentioned here will apply in the chatroom.
  • As other forum promotions, asking for one won't help. Please refrain from doing it.
  • Deceiving fellow chat users in any way and giving false information about who has been using the chat is forbidden. (For example: ChatUser1: 'Sal was here 5 minutes ago!!!PMG! You missed him!' ChatUser2: 'I did!? I always miss him just before I log in!' ChatUser1: 'Hehe, got you!')
  • Tools For Games are to be used only when appropriate. Asking a chat mod for permission to use them is encouraged. Spamming the chat with results of Tools For Games use will be punished as spamming.

Contact

If for any reason you need to contact a Clan Chat moderator, here's a list of the current ones. Please try to contact one who's online. A list of the DMs+ who actively play Runescape can be also found here.

Additional
  • The CC-Mods charged with taking care of the room have the discretion to use means available to stop a problem before it gets out of hand, after seeing an argument start up about how a dog smells terrible 300 times they can usually see where it is going without waiting for the room to erupt into flames

For a detailed guide on using the chat, see the official RuneScape Knowledge Base Article.
