In Catholicism, if a non-Catholic dies, if they led a seemingly good life, and they were truly sorry for their sins, would they still go to heaven? What about non-denominational Christianity?
Definition
Do you see those stadium style reverends? They drive mercedes-es, and have very luxurious lives. Where do they get the money? The people. They don't prech the truely important, they just preach wealth, and a nice afterlife, and fear to those who have sinned. They put a bad eternal afterlife for those who have badly sinned. Although indulgences are not for sale anymore, where do they get those pay-outs.

I know all churches and revrends don't preach that.

I'm Catholic (go on, flame me), and if a non-Catholic dies, we believe if he was sorry for his sins, he will go to Heaven. Too big of a word in the second setence for me to answer...aware.gif

I'll re-word the question abit here. If someone who does not sin by Christian/Catholic standards dies, will he go to heaven? Even if he was not a Christian?

The answer to your first question is a resounding yes. However, I challenge you to find two people in the whole entire history of mankind that qualify.

EDIT: Darn it, Diss beat me to the punch.

But to answer your question, one would be Jesus, right? And the other doesn't exist? (Though, I thought Mary was born without original sin... I supposed she must have sinned while she was alive, though. But are people born without original sin inclined to sin at all? Weird question...)

Christians go to heaven, everyone else goes to hell.

Yes, I tried to say that as un-PC as possible just to see what it would sound like. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I don't know, but I think they do. If the person had a true and good heart, I see no reason why they shouldn't go to heaven. (I'm an Orthodox Christian, by the way. I don't know if my belief is spread across my church, but my family shares it with me)

He didn't change his opinion at all. If someone had never sinned in his entire life and was not a Christian, he'd go to Heaven. The reason Dissentor said that Christians go to Heaven and everyone else goes to Hell is because there's no such thing as a person who doesn't sin.

How has his opinion not changed? It was, only Christians go to heaven. Now, it's, Christians and people who have never sinned go to heaven. I'm aware that by Christian standards everyone has original sin. But the entire point of this topic was a hypothetical situation.

If you truly felt sorry for your sin, and try not to commit it again, I believe God forgives it. If a Christian cheats on his wife and goes to Confession, but feels no remorse and does it again, I believe his sin is not forgiven.

His opinioned hasn't changed because there's no such thing as someone who hasn't sinned, so only Christians go to Heaven. It's like saying "1" versus "1 + 0". They mean the same thing. The "+ 0" bit is extraneous.

Nobody feels remorseful for every sin they've ever committed.
