2 120mm for me

Well I have a laptop, so size isn't really calculateable. I have 5 extremely well working fans on this thing. Putting it into low power usage mode actually causes it to 'breathe' cold air.

1 80mm fan, not counting the power supply's fan (80mm), graphics card's fan (40mm), and processor's fan (60mm, i think).

I have a fan on the processor and one in the PSU.

im going to add like 3 more 120mm fans on the side of my case, for better cooling!so i might have 8 fans soon.

You do know that it doesn't make you better than anyone else because you will have 8 fans, if your suggestions that. You only need as man fans as your system needs to operate at its best.

so what do u think is the ideal number of fans ?

The ideal number, is the number which works best with your system.

ur not answering my question, whats a good number a fans for a average computer? like u know the general white or black computer case for like school and work? and gaming computers?

It's all depending on sizes, speeds but also the internal airflow and individual component heat production. What Stobbo is trying to say is that there isn't an ideal setting for every computer, even with the same components, two similar-looking cases can have different airflow and thus different fan requirements.

Your average computer is going to be different to my average computer. What's more, is there are more factors than just the computer, if you are in a room which is hotter than mine, you might need more fans than me. Then you get different size fans, which is another factor, and there positioning would effect the amount you need.

There is no simple answer.

yeah i guess so cause its pretty hot where i live, most standard comps have like 3 or 4 fans i think ?

1-3 on the case, one or two for the CPU, one or none for the GPU and one for the power supply = 3-5, almost right.

I have 2 fans. A processor fan and a PSU fan. I have an AMD X2 6000+ and it works fine.

Don't put too many fans in, all they will do is disrupt the airflow and cause it to cool less efficiently.

If it's THAT hot, why not just get a Liquid cooling system? It's more effective than having a tornado in your computer. >>

I think having tons of fans just... is a waste of space, and it's loud. It's hard to maintain. (Broken fan, lubrication.. etc)
