Hello.

I know I posted a topic about a laptop I found a little while ago, but the situation changed a bit. I now have a new desktop computer that is quite enough powerful in term of graphic performances, so I'm now thinking it could be a bit of a waste of my money to spend 500 dollars of more to get a laptop with a good graphic card. I found this new laptop, and it seems quite nice as far as I can see.

Clicky.

The Turion X2 is not as good as the Intel Core 2 Duo, I've heard, but it's still quite good and costs way less. The main thing that bugs me a bit is the 17'' screen. I would have prefered for it to be 15.4'', but it's not that big of a problem.

The video card sounds normal, but as I said, I don't really am that preoccupied on getting a GeForce 8600 GT anymore, so...

Main question is: Is it worth it's price? Did I miss anything major? Is there a trap? tongue.gif.

Edit: Corrected something tongue.gif.

I can't see any drawbacks on first sight, the graphics card isn't as high-end as the 8M series, but for a laptop it's fine, if you don't plan on playing the 2007 and newer games.

And especially for that price it's an amazing laptop. 3 hours of battery life is about average, and 2x1.8GHz is good too.

I have the same type of laptop, and another thing I'd like to add is that they are amazingly easy to work with. The case has the best ever look of a laptop that I've seen, and all the ports are very easy to access, because they're all on the sides/front.

HP too, so you'll have little chance of low-end hardware. tongue.gif

Well, the new desktop computer I have has a GeForce 8600 GT 256 Mb graphic card, hence I can play games wonderfully with that computer tongue.gif. If I want to play better games, I have my main computer, hence why I can get a 'cheaper' laptop.

Thanks a lot biggrin.gif. THe sale ends on next thursday, so it'll give me a bit of time to compare the prices tongue.gif.

My laptop is a little above that one, Core Centrino 2.0 GHz and a 8600M mainly, and it was $2000, so I'd say this is a wondeful price for the thing too. ohmy.gif

I made a mistake. This is my desktop computer that has those characteristics, not a laptop tongue.gif.

I know, I was comparing to the specs of the thing you linked to. tongue.gif

Seems good, but this might be worth looking at: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...0527&catid=

$300 cheaper, and has less video memory (same model though), slightly slower processor, half the RAM (1gb is still more than enough, and you could upgrade to 2gb if you wanted anyway), has a battery life of 2.5 hours but also is 15.4"

I would get the cheaper one, unless you needed the extra specs.
