It had been a while sence I upgraded my media player and I thought it it was about time. Went on Microsoft.com got it to check for what updates I needed and the only was Windows Media Player 11. I was expecting Windows Media player 11 to pretty seeing the Sliver Light is out now. I downloaded installed it tried playing Angel Of Death Slayer - Slayer it said 'Windows Media Player does not reconise the following file Angel of death - Slayer.MP3 would you still like Windows Media player to play the file?" I clicked ok and it was all stuffed up. The sound one the speakers were in reverse and and it was crackly, I tried another song still the same.

I then tried playing one of my .AVI files and it did the same thing but the video was leaving tracks (If that makes sence). I checked the Windows Media 11 for what files it supports and to my Horror it wants all music files to be .WAV or .MWA and all video files to be .MPEG, I said no got rid of it and now I am back on iTunes. If you have Windows and you gonna upgrade to Media Player 11...stay with Media Player 10.

It's WMP 11.

And by the way, pirating has driven me to buy albums of bands I wouldn't even know of without downloading a few songs of them.

Scroll down until you get to the part that says "I can’t play a file that Windows Media Player supports. What should I do?"

This is why I never upgrade WMP. It just causes problems. WMP 9 can do the exact same things as WMP 11, but it's less of a resource hog, and it can actually play MP3 files. I made the mistake of installing WMP 11 a while ago, it messed up my video and Windows wouldn't let me uninstall it (you must have system restore on to uninstall) so I had to hack Windows and get rid of WMP all together.

I had no problem like this with WMP11. I did revert back to WMP10 because i like the interface better. WMP11 took a couple things out. I didn't have any problems uninstalling WMP11 either.

Edit: I did not use System Restore to remove WMP11.

That's because you had system restore turned on when you installed Windows Media Player 11, and you have a different video card than I do so you didn't have the Nvidia "color corrections" issue that makes every thing turn black and white when upgrading WMP.

I found what was wrong with it, It has a option of what files you want it support and it only had MPEG and VWA enabled. :| All fixed now. Close if you want...
