I don't know if this is old news or what, but there is a new Virus/Spyware Protection Program that has been advertising by randomly appearing up on your page and closing whatever you were doing. Just sending out a warning that if you ever get this message saying you should download it instantly, close it before it starts downloading. The window that pops up is a Tracking Cookie which will track to wherever you go on your internet browser. Somehow it is getting past my Charter Security Suite Virus and Spyware protection.

Anyways, just saying, if you ever get that pop-up, make sure to preform a virus/spyware scan just incase. Last time it gave me 3 blink.gif

Also, theres something new everyday

And remember, large corporations hire hackers to make viruses and only that corporation has the cure, so they get profits.

This one is just recent though. I think it started out a month ago. I remember someone asking if it was a spyware on the Computer Help forum.

Sounds a lot like the Win anti-virus spyware. Thanks for warning us though. wub.gif

I am interested in what coroprations you are refering to. There are plenty of laws against this stuff, so I don't see how large corporations would be easily getting away with it. I am aware of rogue spyware, but i doubt it's from any large corporations.

I don't know when that virus was around but if it watches everything you do it could get your pass....are you talking about those pop ups that go like :you have won a free xbox 360!?

Yes, but's it's Smitfraud with just a few files changed. It's a variant of it and so it has been out a long time. Plus this is just like spydawn and some other rogues - they just changed the names (even the interface on some of them are same!).

And some large corporative do hire hackers, but do not to make malware, they hire them to hack into the corporative networks so they can discover new exploits + patch them on. Those are white-hats - not be be confused with black-hats wink.gif.

Some gangs however, employ hackers to create these softwares because some internet users might buy it and the gangs can earn loads of money from it...

Yes I can see that happening, it's good business practice to hire people to cause more problems and give your programmers more work, then launch huge advertising campaigns saying you have the cure to X new virus, only to discover that the programming, virus making, and advertising costs were more than the amount of money you gained in sales, then realize that another company came up with a fix the day after you announced that you had one.

No they don't.
