Full Version: How Fast Is High Speed Internet?
i hear like all this stuff like i have high speed internet. im not sure exactly how fast is high speed internet? and this ultra light and stuff is really confusing me.
It can range from anywhere from 1.5mb to 30mb of Speed. There are faster speeds, but those are the common house internet speeds.

High Speed Internet is often related to a DSL connection which is a bit faster than dialup.

The US FCC class anything which has a download speed of greater or equal to 200Kbps as Broadband, and generally High Speed Internet is a name companies use for broadband.

30MB speed is incorrect. In the United Kingdom, the max a line can take is 20MB. This is because BT are refusing to upgrade the phone lines to hander faster connections. Although LAN can handle speeds up to 100MB, the cables from the server to your phone can only currently handle 20MB.
Iin other places, such as Japan and The United States, the speed is far greater. I'm not entirely sure what the max is, but in Japan I believe many users have 100MB connection speeds.

A megabit is 1/8th of a megabyte, actually.
Well my speed usually all the time is 54.0 Mbps, but I'm using a wireless network, so it varies. It is a lot faster than dial up, I will tell you that.
100Mbps and 54Mbps is not internet speed. It is your network speed.

Nope, the lowercase b means bit in Mb, but an uppercase B means byte in MB. Since we are on a forum, people don't often capitalize properly so things like this can get mistaken.

)But I have a question also, my ISP, in their commercials, say "Get Road Runner 768 today!" Does that mean my internet is 768kb/s?
