I love gaming, always have always will. Even though in the later years I haven't played as much as I would like to I am still fascinated about all this next gen graphics!

So what are your opnions of DX10 games currently?
-Im not amazed, I think there not quite there yet.

However there is one game engine I can't express words of, and thats the new cryengine by crytek. It has a farcry feel to it, but the engine itself is amazing, it really does make me think about a next generation enviroment.

check out:http://www.incrysis.com/

if your interested.

Even though i mostly play outdated games, quake 3 and red alert, i still poke around on games like oblivion.

By the way, i don't consider PS3 to hold next gen graphics, its nice but I use my consoles purely based on fun, i don't care about the graphics.

Well if you heard recently, the Crysis beta can make your Windows corrupt. Big major bug causing Crysis to mess with one of your system files and corrupt your copy of Windows meaning, you have to reformat.

For the coming atleast 2 years, basically all games will still run with DirectX 9.0c, because not everyone can cough up the money for a DX10 card that has more power than a DX9 card.

Not even Crysis utilises DirectX 10 to the max. I am a C++ programmer myself, studied the DX10 interface for a while, and it's really hard to get the max performance out of it, compared to, let's say, DirectX 9.0c/e.

Most gamers are normal people with a ~$600 desktop which has either a 2.8GHz single or 1.67GHz dual core CPU, and a low/mid-end (Radeon x1600/1650, GeForce 7600/7900, etc.) VGA. What you're talking about are the gamers who purchase (or have) high-end systems for higher frame rates.

no im not like a uber pro gamer but i have geforce 8800 gts and thats low end compared to my friends. they have like 4000+ rigs and they barely are pro too. go to a tournament and see the geforce 8800 GTX ultra SLI and intel core 2 duo extreme or core 2 quad. just saying that the average computer is good enough to play WOW. direct x 10 will prevail 1 day but it might not be that day today.

actually I was thinking about current graphics cards and how they stand against dx10, it seems the best graphics card at the moment (within reason) is a 8800 ultra. Now i know this has dx10 support (full) but it doesn't have dx10.1 support, only backwards compatibility. Personally an 8800 ultra is very expensive, is dx10.1 going to make this even more expensive?

im just worried an 8800 will get outdated quickly. By the way 8800 sli computer with quad = very expensive. Why do you bring pro gamers into this all the time

btw tech are you sponsered?

That's called overkill, not 'uber pro'.

Basically, all DX10.0 cards will run DX10.1, but won't have ALL the eye-candy, not that it really matters. I rarely turn games up to full on everything--it's just not worth it. It makes the game unplayable. Anyways--as for those people with 8800Ultras in SLI and Core 2 Quad Extremes, they're generally sponsored or have no life (or have no girlfriend). I'd prefer to have a $100 card that plays well in most games at a resolution I actually use (12x10 or 10x7). If I was made of money, I'd have the fastest gaming rig I could afford.
