I didn't like the look of it, despite what you meant so i decided to install beryl manager (because my friend said it was amazing) i wasn't able to use it at first, but after tweaking drivers, different log files i got it working with my graphics card. Its all running smooth then when i restarted, i got a lot of graphical errors.
I wasn't keen on my beryl as it is, but it came apparent that linux allows you to change its shell/desktop. Because im a complete 'noob' when it comes to linux i have no idea how i can safely do this? im currently installing kubuntu desktop via the unix like interface but im still confused. So i would like to know the following things;
how does linux store these 'desktops?'
is linux ati driver friendly? (if not it doesn't matter, i was just curious)
can i delete a 'desktop' or set a 'desktop' as my default?
and finally, unix, how do i start a gui while at the 'unix' like prompt.
Sorry for the informalities, im new to linux and its filing system.
EDIT: What exactly am i changing when i change desktop? like file system... configuration...
ty codex that actually pretty much covers it, i had a feeling ati wasn't very compatible
