G'day. My name is Darthsidio1 (Alex in real-life) and I've been reading this paper since September

I thought when I was walking home from school today, "Everything I do in English is (censored) and I really don;t wanna tell our teacher that. So, why don;t I join an Internet writing club... Naw, too much signing up and payments, etc." Then I started to think about Runescape and what I was gunna do tonight when I suddenly though "I should sign up for the Sal's paper!" I nearly got hit by a car then, but I'm alright.

So, that's basically my life story, well, the parts I can remember of my life story, so let's get on with it!

1. I wish to be on the paper because: I'm bored in English because all we do is jack-(censored) and I want to do something... Different

2. My desired position is: Runescape Discussion OR Interviewer (I like embarrassing people in interviews)

3. Any experience in this area? Well, last year I was the head Interviewer / Hot gossip writer for my school's Grade 6 paper, so I can write pretty well

4. My example: Well, I didn't prepare an example essentially, so I'll list some of my English achievements while I think of an example.

On my Term 2 report I got an Outstanding skill in my writing task, which was to interview an adult and ask very funny but interesting questions about their life, like who was their first kiss / date / who they first broke up with, etc.

In Term 3 I entered my schools Writing Competition and it was posted in with the Senior (Year 10+) stuff, so that proves I can write fiction well

And now for my first example, some Runescape Discussion about the Shop Update.


Today was a pretty exiting day in Runescape. Ever since the Behind the Scenes came out, which wasn't long, October turned out to be a very exiting month, with the Halloween update, a new look Edgeville, some tribal art, it was going to be very exiting. But one update which stood out was a new shop design, a design to ease the prices of items in shops everywhere and make the shops easy to use and a great place to go to buy your items. When the new shop interface came out however, some people were expecting more. And the Rune market suffered a hefty blow. But, it is a very good update, and many new players are raving about it to their friends. So, if your thinking that the shops are pretty bad, drop in and take a look. Who knows, you might just buy yourself a nice new trinket for your bank.

So far, I don't have a clue how many words I've used, but I've made two spelling mistakes from speed typing

Anyway, time for my Interview.

How many of you know a player called Elgi? If you don't know her, your about to find out a bit about her. So read on and I hope you really enjoy the interview As for who says who, I'll be using D: for myself and E: for Elgi.

D: Elgi! Good to see you back from your holidays.

E: Thanks Darth, it's good to be back, refreshed a little, but playing again.

D: So, how did you spend your holidays? I spent mine having friend over and playing my new edition of Halo 3. And playing Runescape of course

E: Well, in the first week I was driving to the opposite town and back, fixing people printers and computers. Then in the last week I basically planned what I was going to do on Runescape during these last few months of the year

D: Sounds exiting. So, what exactly do you plan to do?

E: Well, I actually plan to start on getting more skills higher up, ones that are really difficult to get up, and start focusing more on some semi-combat skills.

D: Awesome. And someone said your planning to get a trimmed cape before the end of the year. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

E: Of course I can. I was originally planning to do Herblore and Agility, but now I'll be doing Agility and Hunter, as they are both enjoyable skills to train, and highly rewarding too.

D: Great! And what's after these two skills what's next to do?

E: Well, that will soak up most of my time but in the breaks I'll be doing clue scrolls, as I am selling / alching everything I get to fund some secret plans.

D: Evil plans to rule Runescape, bwahahaha. Just joking, I know you wouldn't want to rule Runescape.

E: No, my plans are to assassinate Zezima and claim 99 herblore for my self. Mwuahaha

D: Now, what's your opinion on Player Killers. I have a feeling you don't particularly like them?

E: That's right, Player Killers are nothing but bullies. And since I used to get bullied at school I dislike them immensely, but it's their choice to be this cruel to others. Besides, without them, the Wilderness wouldn't be such a bad place

D: You do have a point there. And by the way, congratulations on your Quest Cape. I know you worked hard on the latest quest to get it.

E: Thanks, it looks hot doesn't it

D: Yes, it does. Well I'm afraid that's all we have time for in this interview, so I'll see you soon hopefully.

E: You will, and thanks for interviewing me.

D: It was my pleasure. Well readers, I hope you enjoyed that Interview and I'll see you next month with another person, freshly interviewed. Ta ta for now!

Great app Spelling and grammar are good, it's a nice length, and the interview had some good questions. I can confidently say that this'll be accepted The trouble is...Who will be accepting you? Prash or Neo You should decide what section

Which do you reckon I would be better suited at? I just can;t choose a specific one... I thought before I'd be better at Interviews and maybe I should do discussion? I need opinions from Neo or Prash before I say interview or discussion... Neo, read this or I'll go interview on your Matrix donkey

Double posting won't help your case.

If either accepts you, you will be entitled to contribute to both sections. Try convincing both of them

BTW - you repeatedly use semi-colons ( ; ) where apostrophes ( ' ) should be used.

Thanks, but I was speed typing, and I usually do that. Havn't perfected touch typing yet

Oh yeah, just noticed those keys are next to each other. I have the advantage of 20 years experience of touch typing

Nevertheless, to be a useful Newspaper contributor, the ability to self-edit is important, rather than depending on others' good will to get your contribution into shape.

Decide which section appeals more to your work rather than your personal tastes, otherwise, if you choose a section just because you dislike the section leader less, your work can and will suffer.

Well... I like Neo as a cool person. Never met Prash before, but I like Interviewing....

You do know that he will be entitled to write for ANY section he wants to after getting accepted...

Yes, but he has to be accepted first: the question is, by whom?

Nice application, and as Richman said you can write for any section. Which section a RuneScape interview would go in would depend on the content; if all questions are about RuneScape, then it would probably go under RS Discussion. (It's up to Neo though.)
