2. My desired position is:
World Affairs
3. Any experience in this area?
If I were to be accepted, this would be my first.
4. My example:
For the example, it should be something we can read. So if you're applying for comics, post a comic strip you've made. If its interviews, post an interview of yours. Do not try to make it a masterpiece. Since we don't use applications in the paper, we want your best to be in the paper, not your application.
Citizens from all over Pakistan were expecting to see Benazir Bhutto’s return to Pakistan. She was Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and was in self exile in Dubai for over eight years. Hundreds of thousands of people were expected on the Sharah e Faisal, a highway that leads Karachi’s airport to downtown Karachi. Supporters came when she was half way towards here destination. Crowds were on rooftops, on sidewalks, and on roads practically surrounding the truck that was transporting her.
Bhutto was targeted as a threat to four extremist Muslim groups. During the arrival celebrations, two blasts had occurred, one of them bombed a police cruiser killing the police officers inside, and shaking the Benazir Bhutto’s truck. According to Reuters 15-20 kilograms of explosives were attached to the suicide bomber. The death toll was at 132 civilians, most of which were PPP (Pakistani People’s Part) supporters, and the suicide bomber.
Benazir Bhutto responded to the bombings by saying this on her first public statement after the bombings. "For me, the attack was not on an individual, the attack was on what I represent - it was an attack on democracy, an attack on the very unity and integrity of Pakistan," She had said that people will do whatever to stop democracy from forming in Pakistan.
When Bhutto was a PM, she was charged with corruption. Her husband played a role with laundering money into Swiss bank accounts, and eventually was jailed. When elected for two terms she was overruled by Nawaz Sharif, and Pervez Musharraf. France, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, and the Middle East have shown substantial documents towards her persecution. Gold had been smuggled out of the country and put into her husband’s accounts in Dubai. An estimated 13.7 million US dollars was smuggled out and put into Swiss bank accounts. According to Swiss documents she had hid $1.5 Billion USD in assets around the world.
People were raiding hospitals after the bombings, one of which, an old lady looking for what’s left of her family. She had blamed Bhutto for all the casualties on that horrific day of October. It was supposed to be a celebration, unfortunately turning into an unforgettable tragedy.
