I'm thinking about getting a new computer, just for playing some games.

So, what would the price range be for a computer that plays the latest games without lagg? like Crysis on medium.
(and which parts)

games I intend to play:
Orange box
Bioshock
(maybe) Crysis
and some games like the sims (for my sisters tongue.gif )

I don't need a display, new OS , sound-system, HD or DVD/CD writer

I'd be happy to buy some "lower" end chips/cards and the overclock them to a decent rate. (might save me some money)

If you're on a budget, there's a few options:

- CPU: Get an E6750, E6600 or Q6600 processor from Intel. Consider slamming in a better cooler, too.
- Memory: 2GB of DDR2 800MHz should do, it's becoming ridiculously cheap, too.
- Motherboard: If you can, get your hands on an MSI Neo2-FR, they're amazing for the price.
- Graphics card: if you want to play Crysis, get an ATI Radeon HD 3870 or an Nvidia GeForcew 8800 GT, both 512 MB. The 3870 is slightly cheaper, roughly 50 euros, but performs 15% less on average.
- Power supply: My 600W SilverStone Strider has served me really well, but it's a tad expensive. Can't really give a good advice on this.

Also note that both the graphics cards that I listed need good cooling, so a case with decent airflow is recommended.

I don't know your budget, though. A PC like this rounds up to about.. 800-900 euros depending on the parts.

All this and you're set.

If anyone wants to add input on the build go ahead.

574 pounds=800 Euro=1.2k USD

I assume it'll be around 1k in US since you don't have ridiculous VAT.

Thanks for the posts smile.gif

I forgot to mention: I live in Europe (euros) and I don't need a HD or DVD/CD writer because I aleady have that from my old machine.

And Around €800 or lower would be nice smile.gif

That board won't support a 1333mhz FSB processor unless its overclocked pfft.gif

I don't know where you're pulling your specs mate but P5K SE is a P35 mobo and it supports 1333FSB.

Get a non-superclocked version, they're cheaper and overclocking is something you can do for free yourself. tongue.gif
