I can't talk much crap but, how would you upgrade your video card? It's integrated in with your RAM.
And Vista? I like XP much better. Just because it LOOKS better, doesn't mean it is. I mean, just look at the American Car Companies.

Anyways, I too own a HP laptop. Only, I kicked Microsoft out, and let in the glory of Linux.
But, overall, not bad for only 700CND.
The one I own costed me 200$, but only because it's a hand-me-down. Original price was 400$ with an educational discount (The guy is a teacher).
