My dad uses Spybot - Search & Destroy as his Spyware defense and a recent update was made for it for where the add in a whole new protection thing on your taskbar. He told me it messed up his whole PC, not allowing him to view certain objects on IE7(ActiveX things) and won't allow his Adobe Reader 8.1.1. Since I know more about computers than him I tried just uninstalling his Spybot - Search & Destroy but when I went to the Add/Remove list it was not 1.5.2 it was 1.4. Anyway I clicked removed and an error appeared that said something like, "File "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\dat.0003" not found."(I'll precise error when my dad agrees to not be so fussy. rolleyes.gif )

Now for his Adobe Reader 8.1.1 issue it won't let him open it and when tried to unistall an error comes up that says, "This package could not be opened. Verify the path package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

I'm not sure if the two errors are related but I'm sure they are since they both happened in a few days of each other and the new Spybot Software might be the issue.

I've searched Google and found nothing, help. tongue.gif

I downloaded the update and got the same message. blink.gif

Thing is, it didn't mess up my computer. Are you sure he didn't change a setting or something?

It doesn't even appear on his taskbar.
