Book 1 has finally ended! Originally, I had intended to compile my story entirely in the first post. After trying that I found that it was too big for the first post. So, I have now shifted my story to three separate posts. All three are directly after another.

~Fall of Gielinor: Gods of War~

It seems, while I was shifting my chapters to the first post, that Chapters 1 to 10 somehow got erased. Not to worry, as I have written a summary for any newcomers. I am greatly sorry for this inconvenience to any newcomer as they would find it rather absurd. Please, I'm really sorry!

From Chapter One all the way till Chapter Ten, Ken first of all encounters weird, tentacled demons who seek nothing but to destroy humanity. Failing his attempt at saving a damsel in distress, Ken flees to his home to take revenge on the demons. However, he finds that his grandparents had been killed by the demons. When he returns back to Varrock Square, he realises that the demons are gone and that the entire city has been totalled. No one was spared. Suddenly, King Roald arrives and, confusing Ken to be some Vampire, he captures him and locks him up in the Castle. Ken was humiliated in front of all the nobles back at the castle but was later rescued by some anonymous female figure, a bit older than him. She leads him inside a forest where she encounters an elf. The elf knew the woman, whose name turned out to be Melina, and they begin their battle. Melina loses quickly by being frozen by the elf's, Sin's, ice spell. Ken moves into the scene and, although at first scared at fighting, he quickly defeats the elf by unleashing wave after wave of fire upon him. Not realising his own power, Ken faints from having done too much.

He later finds himself injured and inside some cabin. He tries getting up but was too weak to do that even. Melina enters the room and brings him back to his bed. He also sees another woman beside Melina whom he finds pleasant to look at. Her name was Rose and she was trained in the art of stealth and killing silently, not fighting. Then, a young man with white-blonde hair enters the room and explains himself to be Wallance Scythe, or Wally for short. Wally used to be a Guthixian and lived peacefully among the Druids in Taverley. When the Chaos Druids attacked his home town, the Druids' leader, Kaqemeex, cowardly ran away from home with the rest of the children, including Wally, leaving their parents to die at the hands of the Chaos Druids. Wally realised the cowardliness of the Druid Leader and ran away, considering it a disgrace to be under his shelter. He ended up on a Highway which led to Falador to the north, Rimmington to the southeast and Port Sarim to the southwest. There, he met Melina who was not only an excellent archer but was also an amazing tracker. She led him back to her place in the very cabin Ken had found himself awake in and they live on.

Sin, an elf, used to live in a hostel at the Rangers' Guild in Hemenster. He used to be best friends with Melina. They both used to be great at archery. Some time later, a couple of Zamorakians bribed Sin and ordered him to find the three God Staffs for them. Sin, being the oldest student of Kolodian, kills his former master in the Mage Duel Arena and retrieves the three Staffs. But, Kolodian, before dying, hides the three Staffs and Sin wasn't able to find any. He was also gifted with the ability of sensing immense power close by and began using that power for finding the Staffs. He seems a bit shifty. Later on, his Magic skills improve to such an extent, that he was able to customize his spells into his liking and his archery skills dropped.

Suddenly, a Vampire named Roy kidnapped Wally. Ken and Sin quietly, not letting Rose and Melina know, go to the rescue. Upon seeing Ken, Roy proclaims Ken to be his brother, which was unbelievable as Ken was not a Vampire. Roy explains that Morytania, under the rule of Lord Drakan, banished all weak Vampires and only strong ones were allowed to live. Now, in a state of difficulty, they needed every recruit they could get their hands on and decided to bring the banished inhabitants. Roy set out on this purpose. Ken found it hard to believe and Sin and him kill the Vampire. Before dying, Roy warned the two that two other Vampires were arriving at Varrock and when they find him dead, they would be seeking revenge. Also, Wally led the two, Ken and Sin, into the battered and destroyed Grand Exchange and showed them the Saradomin Staff which Roy had with him upon his arrival.

And the story continues... read on!

Chapter Eleven

A Saradomin Staff!? How did Wally come into possession of a powerful staff like that!? I saw Sin's hand twitch as if he wanted to snatch the Saradomin Staff and run like he was originally destined to do. But he controlled himself, maybe because he thought that he would have too much trouble fighting two people when he was already so exhausted.

"So, is this it?" Sin asked, looked down at the ground.

"What do you mean?" Wally asked, astonished to hear that from Sin who always wanted all three of the God Staffs. "Are you even aware what this staff can possibly do?"

"I'm fully aware of its capabilities, it just... doesn't interest me now," Sin spoke.

"Forget him," I said. "Tell me, how did you find it?"

"I didn't find it," Wally stated. "I saw Roy carrying it and then hiding it here when he first arrived."

"How did a Vampire get possession of a Saradomin Staff?" Sin cried out. He was looking interested a bit. "Not that I care."

"Let me show you one of its powers," Wally closed his eyes and murmured something. It sounded like gibberish but it seemed to have some effect on the Saradomin Staff. The golden shuriken at its tip began to glow brighter and suddenly a beam of light touched my chest and then Sin's. It touched Wally's too since he was the one holding the staff. Soon, my body felt easier to move and the wounds which I had were completely healed. Sin's and Wally's wounds were healed as well. "I hope you guys now know how important this staff is for us. I just hope Sin can keep himself at bay or else things will be very ugly for you." He was talking to Sin.

"Heh, don't worry about me," Sin said. "Even if I did want the staff I could just take it from you and teleport."

He walked away from us and left for the cabin.

* * *

We crept quietly back at the cabin, making sure that we didn't wake the girls. Wally handed me the Saradomin Staff and quietly tried to open the front door. The door opened smoothly but as he opened it further it made a loud creak. Fortunately, none of the girls heard it and we made it to Wally's room without making any noise. But as we entered the room a worried Rose and an angry Melina awaited us.

"Where have you three been?" Melina asked strictly. "Don't ever leave this cabin without telling me."

"And where did you get that?" Rose gleamed at the shining Saradomin Staff in my hand. "Uh, what is it?"

"A Saradomin Staff!?" Melina yelled as she snatched the staff from my hands and stared at it greedily. "How'd you guys find it?"

"Its a long story," Wally stated and took the staff back from Melina.

"Its a long night," Melina said.

"Oh well," Wally then began telling her the entire story.

"Who would've thought a vampire could possess such a thing?" Melina wondered.

"I never knew Ken was a vampire?" Rose didn't look worried but in fact was surprised. "How cool is that!"

"Its not cool and I'm not a vampire," I spoke a bit loudly at her. "I don't know what that cabbage hole was thinking. Calling my parents and grandparents vampires!"

"How about we settle your family dispute later, eh?" Sin says. "We have bigger things to worry about."

"Like what?" Melina asked.

"In one month's time, two vampires stronger than Roy will arrive at Varrock to hunt us down," Sin explained. "They'll most probably be here for the staff too."

"What do we do now?" Rose asked, biting her lower lip.

"Get ready, obviously," Sin said, irritated by Rose's stupid question. "Well, I'm not going to waste any more time, every second counts. I want you to come with me Wally."

"What? Where?" Wally asked.

"To train. Your power was indisputable and I want to take it out of you," Sin remarked.

"Well thanks but no thanks," Wally said. "I think I'll stay here and train at my own pace, after all I am powerful."

"Heh, don't get too cocky, kid," Sin grunted. "You have no idea what you'll be up against."

"Oh? And I suppose you know more about these two vampires?" Wally got up.

"Oh yeah," Sin told. "Their names are Naw and Prince Ranis. You wouldn't want to get into a fight with these two. Well, at least when you're not prepared."

"Humph. I guess I'll tag along. But its just to show you that I don't need any special training!" Wally was getting too cocky.

"We'll just see about that," Sin said.

"Hey, what about me?" I asked. I also wanted to get some training.

"What about you?" Wally asked.

"I want to do the special training too."

"Believe me, you do not want to come train with me. I'm not the type to take this easily," Sin spoke. "But I do know someone who might train you without having to whip you." Sin reached out his pockets and produced some Water runes and Law runes. "Here take these runes and use them to teleport to East Ardougne. Once there head to its outskirts and from there go Northwest. A large wooden gate is the entrance to the Tree Gnome Stronghold. Oh, and take some money too. They allow all other races to enter their stronghold except for humans. Humans must pay a large toll."

And it was a large toll, Sin handed me around 2,300 gold coins.

"How much is the toll?" I asked.

"2000," Sin answered.

"Then why the extra 300?" I asked.

"It should cover your stay there at the Gnome Bar," Sin hurriedly spoke and left with Wally following him.

"Bye everyone, see you next month," Wally waved goodbye and I guessed it was my time to leave too.

"Well, Melina and Rose, I guess I'll be leaving," I said. "How will you two train?"

"Don't worry about us," Melina said. "We train all the time whether you boys know it or not." She got up from Wally's bed and gave me the Saradomin Staff. "Keep it safe."

"Why are you giving me this?" I asked, bewildered.

"The Saradomin Staff has the ability to allow the wielder to see things far away," Melina explained. "Use this to keep an eye on Sin and Wally, and us too just to make sure we are safe."

"Why can't you just take it?" I asked.

"Because I don't have any teleport runes to go where Sin and Wally are and even to East Ardougne," Melina clarified. "You not only have the East Ardougne teleport runes but you can also come here to Varrock."

"I don't have any Fire runes."

Melina put some Fire runes in my hand. "You do now. Now go and good luck."

"Thanks, you two take care," I said. I took out the Water runes and Law rune and whispered the East Ardougne teleport spell code and off I went!

The journey through the Abyssal Realm and to East Ardougne was fairly quick and I barely felt myself move. But as my vision cleared I saw the Sun shine brightly. It was night back at Varrock, but it was day here in East Ardougne. All the merchants were bellowing out their fairly cheap prices to sell their wares as the guards made sure that the pesky thieves didn't come around. East Ardougne seemed unaffected by the Demon wave that had struck Varrock. Everyone was happy and the children were playing in the square.

I was hungry and decided to go to the cake stall. I bought myself a loaf of bread for 10 coins and went over to the Inn. I sat at the dining table to rest and eat in peace. The bar was as lively as the outside. Drunkards laughing out loud and barmaids gossiping. The bartender was the only one who wasn't speaking and was busy cleaning the beer mugs. I was not into drinking alcohol and so sat there quietly hoping to be ignored and not catch anyone's attention. I slowly nibbled on my loaf of bread and wondered what the Tree Gnome Stronghold would look like. I also thought about why the Humans must pay a toll of 2000 coins just to enter.

As I was left into thinking I didn't realise a mature woman with a half full beer mug came and sat beside me.

"Hey there, handsome," She moved closer to me and I was beginning to sense the feeling of uneasiness.

"Uh, hi," I replied.

"What are you doing here all by yourself?" She rested her heavy arm on my shoulders.

"Nothing, I'm new to this city and am heading to the Tree Gnome Stronghold," I told her my reason.

"Oh, sounds excitin'," Her legs were now touching mine and I could smell her alcoholic smell. "Why don't I make you feel much better, huh?"

"No its OK, I.."

"Hey!" I was cut short by an obese drunkard whose big, brown moustache was wet with beer. "What the hell do you think you're doing with my girl?"

"Oh, sorry sir, I didn't do anything, she just came to me and..." I was punched across the face by that fat man and fell off my chair.

He took my loaf of bread and ate it whole in one bite and then spat out the chewed bits on my face. Everyone in the Inn began laughing at me and kept on provoking the large person to continue the fight with me. I had no intentions of fighting anyone and so apologised to him. He obviously didn't listen to me and tackled my chest hard with his fatty shoulder. My spine hit the walls on the other end of the Inn real hard. I got up now, fists clenched. It was too much humiliation and I couldn't handle it. I yelled and ran towards the drunkard and head butted his belly so hard that he nearly vomited. Next I pulled his moustache and kicked his groin. Lastly, I tripped him and stomped on his face causing some of his teeth to break and his mouth to bleed. Everyone was silent and shocked. I was relieved and relaxed. As I left the Inn, one of the drunkards cursed me and soon enough I was chased by an angry drunk mob. The Ardougne guards were confused and went after the mob to control it. I ran as fast as I could, grabbing my Saradomin Staff which I had left with the banker and quickly getting out of East Ardougne. I crossed some sickly looking sheep and came across a bridge. It was the only bridge across the river and I decided to cross it. I thought that the mob wouldn't chase me this far out but it actually did, so I was forced to do something really illegal. I took out my remaining Air and Mind Runes and cast an Air Strike to demolish the bridge, preventing anyone to cross the river.

Unfortunately, one of the Ardougne guards spotted me and called the others. Soon, the Ardougne guards - who were once on my side trying to control the mob - were after me and sided with the drunk mob. Archers from the high walls of East Ardougne shot arrows at me, fortunately none of them struck. I ran opposite the direction of East Ardougne and one of the archers managed to get his steel arrow to pierce the back of my left thigh. Luckily, it didn't completely cut through it. I took out the arrow and realised that I could no longer run away from the arrows. Thinking fast, I fell sideways and pretended to die. The arrows stopped and after a while I could see that the archers had dispersed. I had no time for relaxing, there was still the probability that the guards were coming for me. So I quickly got up and walked away.

I never considered travelling to be this hard...

Chapter Twelve

The Sun was about to set and it was beginning to get dark. I was feeling very hungry and almost fell over. If only that fat drunkard hadn't eaten my loaf of bread. If only I had walked out of the Inn as soon as that alcoholic woman sat beside me. But it already happened and I couldn't change the past. I still had my money, but there was no stall or travelling merchant in site from whom I could buy something to eat and maybe even a place to stay for the night. I didn't even feel the Saradomin Staff in my hand as I had it held for hours. I wondered what the others were up to? I lay down on the moist grass of the Kandarin plains and looked at the Saradomin Staff. I held it in front of me with both hands and closed my eyes. I started thinking about Melina and Rose. The Saradomin Staff started glowing and soon I was able to see Melina and Rose eating their breakfasts. I smiled. They were OK. Next I decided to check on Sin and Wally, to see whether Sin wasn't doing anything bad to him. Just as I was about to think of them, my train of thoughts was interrupted by drumbeats. I got up and quickly dug a hole to hide the Saradomin Staff in it. I tore a small piece of my sleeve and put a rock on it to indicate that the Saradomin Staff was buried there - just in case I forgot. I climbed up a nearby evergreen tree to get a clearer view of my guests. I made sure that no one could see me by covering myself entirely with leaves. It was a parade? I thought. The people wore purple hoods, purple robes, purple gowns, purple gloves, purple boots, purple capes, and some purple logo around their neck. Was it the latest fashion or something? The 'parade' consisted of both men and women and there were some with weaponry. I feared that they could be Zamorakians. There were some carrying torches to light the way, some reading scriptures, and others enchanting something in one rhythm. There were two people beating the drums and one of the 'purple people' led the way. He had a book different from others. His book was white with gold around the edges. I remembered a familiar book with grandpa once. He called it the Holy Book of Saradomin. Maybe the leader had the Holy Book, and maybe these people weren't evil. I hoped.

As they came within hearing range I heard all of them recite, "Go in peace in the name of Saradomin, may his glory shine upon you like the sun." Thank goodness it was only Saradominites. I hoped that they would accept the presence of a Guthixian - after all we are peaceful too. I jumped down the tree and went over to greet them. As I yelled to get their attention, the drums stopped, the people stopped reciting, and the leader glared at me with vicious suspicion.

"I come here in peace," I yelled. "Can I please join you guys? I need a place to sleep."

The leader gestured to one of his men and whispered something in his ear. Then he beckoned me. I walked carefully towards them.

"Who are you?" The leader asked me, his voice pierced the air.

"I am Ken Karomaz, sir, and I need a..." I was cut short by the purple people who started whispering and talking among themselves as if I said something wrong.

"Silence!" The leader yelled at them. "Who did you say you were?"

"Ken Karomaz," I reply. "Why? Is there a problem?"

He didn't answer, instead he gestured to one of his men behind me and the next I remember was an empty bag of potatoes being covered all over me.

"Hey!" I yelled, trying to break free. "What the hell? Are you guys deranged or something!?"

My insults didn't work and the next thing I knew was that I was tied inside the bag of potatoes. I felt the bag being carried and then thrown on some wooden platform which hurt my back. I assumed the wooden platform was on wheels because I felt it move. The night was long and I quickly fell into a deep sleep.

* * *

A mystical being approached me from a distance. He wore a red robe and a red gown. His hands were pale and sickly looking with long nails. He walked with a forward thrust and had a beak nose. His face resembled that of an old man - grandpa.

"Come to hell with me!" He sneered. "Come to hell!" He grinned and then laughed out loud. His voice faded away in the darkness and I was left alone to cry.

"Grandpa!" I screamed.

I woke up from my sleep. Sweating. That was one horrible nightmare. I missed my grandparents. Then, I was reminded of the purple people. I looked around. I was no longer in some bag of potatoes. Instead, I was in a cave-like prison. I saw through the iron bars, no one was outside and it was pitch dark. The only lighting came from the prison and it was a dimly lit lantern. Below it was somebody else. A red-haired boy who looked around 10 years old. He snored while sleeping and it was really annoying because the snores just got louder each time. There was a steel plate with minced meat and a half-eaten tortilla. A few ants crawled on the food. I thought of waking up the redhead but decided it be best if I get some rest.

* * *

"Hey," I heard some young boy's voice. "Wake up." He slapped my face lightly and I found that very annoying especially when I was sleeping.

"What?" I said abruptly. "Is it morning already?"

"I don't know," The redhead said. "Its almost always dark in this prison, so its hard to tell whether its day or night outside."

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Oh yeah, forgot to introduce myself," He made a silly face. "I'm Honnen."

"Honnen who?" I asked.

"I don't really know my surname," He looked confused but not sad. "So, why'd they lock you up?"

"I have absolutely no idea!" I exclaimed. "I just told them my full name - Ken Karomaz - and they started acting as if its a big deal and locked me up!"

"Wow, that is a very stupid reason," Honnen said.

"I know!" I was so infuriated at the purple people.

"Well, I got locked up because I'm a Zamorakian," Honnen looked down and was expecting an abrupt reply.

"Say what?" I was astonished to have a Zamorakian in my presence. "Seriously?"

"Yeah," He felt proud of his religion. "But don't take it the wrong way. I mean no harm. I didn't even mean any harm to the H.A.M. Cult."

"H.A.M. Cult?" I asked.

"These guys in purple," He replied. Oh, so that's what they're called. What a silly name.

"Is it an acronym for something?"

"Yeah, Humans Against Monsters," Honnen replied, looking out through the iron bars miserably.

"Then why'd they lock us humans in here?" I hoped that to be a reasonable question.

"Because they recently made a new goal to eliminate all Zamorakians from Gielinor as well," Honnen said. "They consider us to be inhumane. What are you?"

"I'm a Guthixian," I replied, also looking out through the iron bars like he was.

"Where you from?" He asked.

"Varrock."

"Oh, cool!" His expression turned from miserable to excited. "I haven't been there but I've heard its awesome!"

"It is," I looked down, my expression darkening. "But not any more. I wonder if it still exists on the maps."

"What do you mean?" Honnen looked really confused.

"Not too long ago, Varrock was assaulted by demons," I looked away. "Those vile beasts had left not a single soul alive. Everyone's dead there except for the military and the rulers. The demons killed everyone swiftly, including my grandparents who were my only relation." My eyes started watering but I made sure I didn't appear as a crybaby in front of a little kid.

"I'd say you're fortunate to have your family killed swiftly," Honnen's tears began to shed. "My family had been tormented by the Saradominites of Edgeville for a very long time. When I was five years old, we shifted to Lumbridge, where my parents believed would be safer because there were barely any religious intolerance there. But we were wrong. At the age of 6, my dad met a colleague whom he acquainted and worked with as a merchant. He shared many things with his new friend including the fact that he was a Zamorakian. The next day a large group of men wearing full purple raided our shack and aggressively tied my mother and older sister onto a log and carried them away. My dad and I were locked in a cage.

"We were brought into their hideout where they locked my sister and I in this very prison. My sister and I watched our parents being whipped by a heavy chain whip. After they were severely wounded my mother's face was forcefully kept underwater and within a matter of minutes she drowned and died. My dad was tied to a wooden pole and was set on fire. The fire slowly reached from his feet to his face. My sister and I cried and pleaded to the H.A.M. but they are inhumane monsters who wouldn't listen. My sister's eyes became sore of crying and her eyes bled. My throat ached by shouting and crying so much. My dad cried out that he loved my sister and me before the fire burnt him completely.

"We were waiting for our turn to be tortured, but the H.A.M. members stated that they do not harm children and that we will die once we reach our maturity. They provided us with dirty food with insects crawling on them and murky water. I don't know how I'm still alive, but its all thanks to my sister. She ate very little and gave me the food to eat first. After I finished there was very little for her to eat but she kept on going with the remains. A year later, my sister looked like a famine victim and she died peacefully in her sleep. Until that day I've lived in this prison alone for almost a year."

I didn't know what to say to the kid. His background was much worse than mine. And he was only a kid! To have survived and witnessed all that. It must've been hard for him. "Hey, do you want to get out of this prison?" I asked him, laying my hand on his shoulder.

"Of course!" Honnen replied enthusiastically. "But how do we do that? There's nothing in here to try with."

"The soil of this prison is soft, we can dig through," I told him. "Get me that steel plate over there." Honnen obeyed me and gave me the steel plate. I cleared the plate of its food and started digging. "How often is meal time?"

"Once in a day," Honnen stated. "But since I don't know whether its day or night I can't tell when they'll come."

"OK, I want you to take the lantern and place it near the iron bars so you can get a clear view of when someone's coming," I told him.

"Yes, sir!" Honnen joked but listened. And so our campaign of escaping began. For several hours I dug continuously and the hole had become as big as me. I took out my shirt and covered the hole whenever a H.A.M. member came to give us food. In a matter of days the hole had become a full fledged tunnel. We just needed two more days to uncover the ground above us on the other side of the tunnel. It was hard digging the tunnel now, because if I stayed too long inside the tunnel the H.A.M. members could find out, so I had to come up after every few minutes just to be safe. Progress was slow but it did make a difference and Honnen had stayed very cooperative and obedient throughout.

The tunnel was almost finished and it would be complete the next day, so Honnen and I slept the night or day away. The next day we had no time to lose and I told Honnen to come inside the tunnel with me because it was nearly done. After digging for many minutes we saw the first speck of light and I knew that with a few more digging it'll come through. It was then that we heard one of the H.A.M. members came in with our food and unlocked the gate. Now we knew we had to finish fast. But it was too late, the guard had already entered our small tunnel and shoved Honnen aside then pushed me against the hard and rugged cave walls. Honnen bravely smashed the lantern on the H.A.M. guard's back who was least affected by it. The guard punched Honnen to the ground who now started weeping and bleeding. The guard wielded his iron sword and lunged at me. Fortunately, it missed and I quickly grabbed hold of his hands. I pressed it so tightly that he had to let go of the sword, then I head butted his face and pinned him to the ground. I took the guard's iron sword and pierced the person's chest with it, killing him. I realized I had gotten carried away, and killing was something I never enjoyed.

Honnen understood my facial expression and said, "Its OK, you did it in self defence. He's the bad guy."

"Come on, we haven't much time," I struck the ground above us with my shoulder several times. Finally putting in some cracks, I then punched it a few times to make a hole big enough for Honnen to go through. I gave him a boost and he successfully climbed out of the hole. I tried making the hole bigger for me but was unsuccessful. Fortunately for me, Honnen smartly brought a shovel and dug me out. After so many days I had finally seen the light of day and lay on the ground exhausted.

"Thank you so much!" Honnen hugged me excitedly.

"No problem," I said, panting. "Come on, we need to get some real rest and food."

I still had the money which Sin gave me, and for the first time I actually appreciated him. Thank you Sin.

Chapter Thirteen

I surveyed my surroundings and it appeared that the so called "H.A.M's" hideout was just a few metres behind us.

"Lumbridge is just west of here," Honnen told me, gesturing to follow him. He was a smart kid and new his surroundings very well. When we encountered some wild Goblins he told me amazing hiding places which I doubt even the best explorer would have a hard time finding. Honnen was right, Lumbridge wasn't far and by sunset we had reached its outskirts.

"So, any Inn in mind?" I asked, rubbing my hands with delight that we were finally in civilisation.

"There are no Inns in Lumbridge," Honnen said. "But I know someone who can give us a place to stay for the night."

I followed Honnen across the town of Lumbridge. I had never seen a town like it before. Unlike Varrock, which was an industrial and metropolitan city, Lumbridge was completely different. It had lots of farms, cow fields, a warriors', archers', and wizards' schools, and lots of friendly people. The centre of attention, however, was the Lumbridge Castle. It wasn't big enough like the Varrock Castle, but it had a splendid courtyard with fountains and people chatting about the day's work. Honnen led me into a small house near the Saradomin Monastery, and a shop called "Bob's Axes". It was a fine house, with fine neighbours but one thing disturbed me; it had a graveyard nearby! Honnen knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Then, he tried opening the door and found it to be opened.

"Hello?" Honnen's voice slightly echoed in the emptiness of the one-story, one-room house. "Anybody home?"

It was obvious no one was there since the house was too small. I wondered where he slept? Honnen stepped inside and began preparing me a meal.

"I don't think we should barge in like this," I was feeling a bit uneasy.

"No, don't worry," Honnen said boldly. "Cordero is a nice person. He knows my family and me very well."

"Who's Cordero?" I asked.

"You haven't heard of him?" Honnen looked back from his cooking at me. "He's famous throughout Lumbridge and Al-Kharid."

"Never heard of him," I said.

"Well, he's a very good chef," Honnen said. "I bet he's the third best human chef in Gielinor, only to be topped by Lev and Lloyed."

After he finished his statement, someone unlocked the door and in came a chef with a white apron and a chef's hat.

"Cordero!" Honnen exclaimed, getting up to hug the chef.

"Oh, hello Honnen!" the chef put down his grocery. "This is an unexpected visit! How've you been? And whose this young gentlemen?"

"This is my friend, Ken Karomaz," Honnen introduced me.

"Hello," I shook hands with Cordero.

"Pleased to meet you," Cordero said. "So, what are you two doing here?"

"We wanted to a place to stay for the night, Mr. Cordero," Honnen pleaded.

"Sure thing!" Cordero was happy to let us stay. "But why one night?"

"One night's enough," Honnen said. "After that we'll be heading towards West Ardougne."

"That's quite far away, I hope one of you knows how to use magic," Cordero said.

"I do," I answered.

"Well, that's good news. Here take these runes, they'll teleport you to East Ardougne, and from there you can head to West Ardougne," Cordero handed me some law and water runes. "You guys came in the right time, dinner will be ready in a moment."

"Great!" Honnen exclaimed.

Cordero's house wasn't much to brag about. But it was a nice place. The house consisted of a stove, a small wooden dining table with four small wooden chairs and straw mattresses were neatly piled upon each other in one corner. There was also a sink. After a while, Cordero prepared us dinner. It was some sort of meat. Very tasty!

"This is very good," I remarked his delicious dish as I chomped it down.

"Why thank you," Cordero said. "Its my very own, I call it Fried Rat!"

Fried Rat!? What kind of food do these people of Lumbridge eat!? I suddenly lost my appetite.

"Um, may I please go outside and eat," I said. "I need some fresh air."

"Sure thing!" Cordero exclaimed.

I quickly went outside and dumped the food in the graveyard, making sure that Cordero didn't find out. Then I went back inside and pretended I liked it.

"Mm, mm, that was good!" I wiped my lips with a napkin.

"Glad you liked it!" Cordero said proudly. "There's more if you want seconds!"

"No thank you," I put my plate down. "It was so good that it already made me full. Where do we sleep?"

"On those straw mattresses over there by the corner," Cordero pointed out. He got up and placed the mattresses for Honnen and me to sleep in.

"Thank you Mr. Cordero!" Honnen exclaimed, putting his plate down and laying on his mattresses. I did too and we both fell instantly to sleep.

An old disfigured man appeared in front of me. His back was arched and he had a white staff with him. The staff had a golden shuriken at its tip. The old man had a long white beard, was partly bald and had brown monk robes on. He also wore the Holy Symbol of Saradomin around his neck.

"I warn you!" He cried. "Heed this warning! Stay away from him! Stay away from the son of the devil worshippers!"

"Who?" I asked him calmly.

"Stay away..." He faded away.

I woke up only to hear the sound of Honnen crying. It was early morning. He had his back to me with someone lying in front of him. His crying seized as he heard me yawn.

"What's wrong?" I asked. "Why is Cordero sleeping on the floor?"

He didn't reply. He looked at me with his tear-stained face and showed me a bleeding iron dagger. The iron dagger had red-crimson blood dripping from it. My heart beat really fast. I was in a state of half unconsciousness but I managed to hold myself together. Honnen stood up and now I could clearly see the bloody hole which was impaled by that dagger on Cordero's belly. The wound still had blood dripping out of it and looked fresh.

"When did this happen?" I questioned Honnen, getting a close up of Cordero.

"I don't know," Honnen cried. "As soon as I got up from bed I saw him dead with the dagger sticking out."

"Come Honnen," I helped him get up. "This place isn't safe any more. There's a murderer on the loose."

Honnen and I quickly packed up some food from Cordero's house and headed our way. As we left the house I saw that Bob's Axes was completely battered. The windows broken and the door was hanging loose. What the hell happened in here? I checked inside, only to find Bob's dead body lying on his counter. At first I thought that it was the same murderer who killed Cordero. But then I saw that Bob's face was all chewed up and his clothes torn to their limit. This was the work of some other powerful entity. But who? Or what? Suddenly, we heard screams from outside. Honnen and I headed outside only to find the citizens of Lumbridge were under attack by a familiar beast. I watched in horror as the demons, who had once ruined my entire home, were here in Lumbridge trying to ruin somebody else's. The demons of Varrock had returned to haunt me.

"What are those?" Honnen shrieked as he clutched my trousers and hid behind me.

"Stay here," I tell him. "These guys are tough."

I headed out without any weapon towards the demon. Fear and frustration trying to overcome each other. Eventually, frustration took the better of me and I was ready for a brawl. There were only a handful of demons this time. I targeted the one closest to me. I turned it around and punched it right at its little tentacles. It stood there. Staring at me. Not a single move. It was as if as soon as it saw me it wouldn't want to harm me.

"Come on!" I yelled at it, kicking its groin. "Fight me!" No response. I kept kicking and punching, but the demon looked blankly at my face. I could here Honnen's cries getting louder until finally he screamed in agony. His scream had drawn the attention of all the demons and then they completely ignored me and went for Honnen. "Honnen!"

I ran as fast as I could towards the child. Pushing aside the demons on my way. I grabbed hold of his hand and carried our bag, then headed on south towards the graveyard. I then remembered the runes Cordero gave me and so got ready to teleport. But I was too late. The demon had sprung on my back and stole Honnen away from me.

"Hey!" I shout, kicking the demon's spine. "Take me! Don't take the child!"

The demon again ignored me and continued tormenting Honnen. But before any serious damage could be done, I jumped at the beast and bit it at its shoulder. The demon laid out a high pitched scream which was painful to the ear. Happiness rushed through my heart as I had finally inflicted pain on the creatures who had hurt me so bad. The demon let go of the child and pointed to the sky, like it did in Varrock, while pointing its finger. The others did the same and Honnen quickly hid behind me. I let go of the demon and spat. The demon turned around, looked at me in the eye with its red eyes and then sank in the earth. For a reason unknown to me, they just wouldn't harm me. They went only after Honnen despite the fact that I would've made a tastier meal for them. This led me into thinking that what if these creatures were sent to kill people by some man? Or maybe it was the end of the world? As I thought this, Honnen pulled my shirt and I understood that the child was desperate to get out. I quickly teleported us to the safety of East Ardougne.

The Moon shone lightly over East Ardougne, covered partly with translucent clouds.

"Can you please drop me off to West Ardougne?" Honnen asked me.

"Sure," I tiredly replied.

Honnen looked at me for a while and then stated, "But first lets get some rest, OK?"

"All right," I agreed. "But lets not stay at the Flying Horse Inn."

"That's the only Inn in town," Honnen told me.

I guessed we had to stay there. I took some dirt and rubbed it on my face to give me a darker complexion. We headed towards the Inn and it was surprisingly silent. The bartender, however, was awake and we managed to get some lodgings. I was too tired to think and consider about the demons and I fell asleep immediately as I lay on the bed...

Chapter Fourteen

It was early in the morning. Surprisingly, I woke up before Honnen. I stretched my legs and arms and yawned. Honnen was sound asleep. Having his back turned to me and sleeping on his side. I head over to the window, just to see how the people were doing outside. Lively, as expected. The market area was filled with the hustle and bustle of shopaholics. As I gazed out the window, the sunlight reflected through something metallic which struck my eyes. I rubbed my eyes and then looked for the object that reflected the light. It was a shiny, metallic object from Honnen's bag pack. I quietly opened it and shockingly discovered a blood-laden iron dagger! What the hell was Honnen doing with it!? My shocking gaze shifted from the dagger and onto the sleeping Honnen. Horror filled me. Could it be? Did... Honnen really do it? I shook my head in disbelief and punished myself for thinking so bad about the child. After all, he was only a kid. The crimson-red blood on the dagger dripped slowly. I smelled the blood to find it was fresh. That put more doubt into me. And I was scared to my limit. Was I really travelling with a murderer? No! It can't be! I'll just have to ask Honnen the reason. He wouldn't do anything like it.

"Hey," Honnen woke up and rubbed his sleepy eyes. "What are you doing?"

"Honnen," I said. "I found this dagger in your bag pack. What's it doing there? And isn't this the very dagger which the murderer used to kill Cordero?"

"It is," Honnen got up from bed and took the dagger from my hand, not sparing the time to wipe that disgusting blood from it. "I kept it because it kind of reminds me of Cordero."

"I understand," I murmured. He is the weirdest child I've ever seen! "Shall we get going?"

"Sure," Honnen replied.

We hurriedly ate our breakfast and left for West Ardougne. As we left the Inn I overheard a couple talking about a recent murder last night. That brought a chill up my spine. The fresh blood from Honnen's dagger and the recent murder last night! I couldn't help but thinking about this child. Half of me said it must've been some coincidence, while the other wants to strangle the child for behaving this way! Was I really in the company of a serial killer who kills for fun? Or maybe he had a reason to do all that? Or maybe he didn't even kill anyone and it really was just a big coincidence? As these thoughts rushed in my head, Honnen broke my train of thought.

"Are you OK?" He asked.

"Yeah," I replied. "Its just the heat."

"Heat?" Honnen looked at me awkwardly. "Ardougne is never hot. Temperate is its hottest."

"Uh," I quickly think of something to change the topic. "I've heard that the entrance to West Ardougne has been blocked and that there is a plague there."

"Yeah," Honnen calmly said. "The entrance is blocked, but the plague is no more."

"How come?" I asked.

"Have you heard of Lionel Varze?" He asked me.

"No."

"Well, he is the son of the great White Knight, Sir Amik Varze," Honnen told me. "He helped remove the plague from West Ardougne. He is a great icon and I'm surprised as to how you haven't heard of him. He also slew Elvarg the dragon and saved Draynor Village from Count Draynor's terror. He has done many good things to give him the title of Lionel the Great. Telling you about his adventures will probably take me all day."

"I see," I said. "But what about the entrance, is it opened now that the plague is over?"

"No," Honnen said. "The citizens of East Ardougne still consider our atmosphere to be infected with the plague."

"Wasn't Lionel able to convince them?" I asked.

"No, he was murdered before he could do anything about this," Honnen replied.

This murder topic just seemed to follow me no matter which dumb topic I chose! "So, how are we going to get in?"

"Easy, there's this secret tunnel which my friends and I use to visit each other," Honnen answered with delight. "Come on!"

I followed him through the crowded streets of East Ardougne and across the bridge. This was the first time I had ever seen a castle bigger than King Roald's. The East Ardougne castle was huge! There was also something else that I had noticed. East Ardougne's streets and houses were much better in terms of decoration and size than the streets and houses of Varrock. Varrock might be larger, but East Ardougne was certainly wealthier.

We ran through the streets and alleyways until we finally reached a dead end - a huge wall about 12 feet high. "Where's the tunnel?" I asked.

"Right here," Honnen cleared some grass away to reveal a trapdoor. "Hurry get inside."

I quickly climbed down the tunnel through a sturdy and old rope. Honnen came in next. As he closed the trapdoor we were embraced with sudden darkness. Suddenly, I felt scared again. Was this a trick to murder me as well? I was going to retaliate and run but Honnen quickly lit a candle on the wall. Awkward. These kids come prepared.

"Come on," Honnen said. "What're you waiting for?"

"Nothing."

I followed him through the tunnel. There wasn't much to see except for arachnids scaling the ragged walls and ceiling and murky but shallow water on the ground. Not to mention the disgusting smell of the dead. The tunnel was quite small as we only had to walk for seconds before we reached the end of it. Honnen climbed up a steel ladder and opened the trapdoor. I followed him up the tunnel and into West Ardougne. I was hoping to be greeted with a beautiful aroma of a lively city but instead I found myself smelling a disgusting odour that was even greater in its stench than the one in the tunnel. I covered my nose with my hands.

"Whats wrong?" Honnen asked.

"Don't you smell anything?" I asked, speaking through my hand-covered mouth.

"No," Honnen giggled. He was indeed the weirdest kid I've ever seen!

I followed him through the streets of West Ardougne. It was creepy and almost seemed like the dead version of East Ardougne. We were heading north of the trapdoor and I could see many people coughing. Their skins were pale as if they were dead and all of them looked inactive. I didn't blame the East Ardougnians for blocking these people from entering their haven.

"I thought the plague was over?" I asked Honnen as we walked through the wet and muddy streets of West Ardougne.

"Not quite," Honnen answered. "The plague used to be infective, now it isn't. Lionel didn't remove it, he just made it non-infectious."

I still felt uneasy about that place. There was something about it that didn't make me want to feel sorry for the people, but to feel scared. Honnen seemed quite comfortable and smiled frequently. I was half scared and half delighted by his childish smile. After half hour of walking we finally reached a silent neighbourhood. All the houses were battered and almost ruined. The windows were broken, the doors crushed, and the streets cracked. Honnen lived in a small house behind the bigger ones. He opened his house's door and it smelled worse than the streets outside!

"This is the hideout which my friends and I from East Ardougne hung out in," Honnen said.

The house was one-story, had three rooms, and a small - but destroyed - toilet. I placed my bag in a corner and sat down on one of the wooden rocking chairs. They creaked each time I rocked it.

"Stay here," Honnen said. "I'll go get some food."

Oh no. Seeing the condition of this entire city, I couldn't even imagine how the food would be! But saying no would hurt his feelings so I let him get me food. He opened the door to the kitchen and shut it. I sat there, alone in his "lounge". Rocking the rocking chair. The creaking sounds were annoying, but I couldn't stop rocking the chair; it was fun. Then, I heard something as the rocking chair's feet slammed lightly against the floorboard. I rocked the chair again and heard the sound again. It sounded like someone knocking at a hollow wall. I looked down at the dusty brown floorboard and tapped it with my foot. Yes, it was hollow. But, why would the floor be hollow? Curious as I was, I decided to open the floorboard to see what was in it. But if I made too much noise Honnen would find out and scold me. I had to come up with a way to do it softly. I searched my bag pack and found some of the darts I had saved up. I pierced the floorboard several times and slowly a finger-sized hole was formed. I looked through the hole but couldn't see anything. The smell from the hole smelled exactly like the blood on Honnen's dagger! It was disgusting! But I had no time to be scared, because the entire city smelled like that. I fitted my index finger in the hole and slowly ripped it, giving small intervals after every ripping sound.

Soon enough, it opened and the hole was now as big as my head. I inserted my head inside the hole, holding my breath at the same time, to see what was inside. It was dark, but a little light from the lounge did manage to reach inside the hole. I spotted some clothes. A shirt. Covered in something brownish red. I couldn't clearly make out its colour, but was aware that it was a type of cloth. Then, I spotted what seemed to look like hair. Blond hair. Blond hair smeared with something brownish red. As I peered through the hole, letting some of the light in, I could see some girl's skirt and under garments covered with the same brownish red material as the cloth and the blond hair had been covered in. I was beginning to get goosebumps and was shivering heavily. Sweat dropped down my face and a chilly feeling covered my spine. I went back up to get some breath. Then, I put my head back in it, to get a last look at the place. Before going back up I saw something that froze me at the spot. It was a bare belly. My sight went up and I saw bare legs. And then, a terrified face of a small boy. The face was covered in dust and blood and I realized that the brownish red substance was indeed blood. Next, I saw the nude body of a young girl, probably not even older than Honnen. Was this my imagination? I pinched myself and it hurt. I wasn't able to put my head up, I was frozen. Horror and fear filled inside my belly. I thought I was going to vomit, but I managed to hold myself through. And then...

"So, I see you found out," I heard a child's voice coming from above. It was Honnen. I was exhausted as I slowly put my head back up. I was greeted with Honnen holding a platter of food and glass of green water. "Go on. Speak."

I was unable to utter a simple sound. I was shivering. "Say something. Curse me. Come on. I'm waiting."

"Ho...nn..." That was all I was able to say. He was standing behind me. He sneered and then laughed out loud. Son of a devil, that laugh was scary! I slowly got up, my legs just barely managing to hold me upright.

"Don't worry, Ken," This was the first time he called me by my name. "For being such a wonderful friend of mine, I'll make it fast and painless."

"You...you..." I tried speaking.

"Yes?" Honnen smiled at me.

"You... little..." I clenched my fists. "You little son of a nice doggy!!"

"Temper temper," Honnen said, with a lustful smile. "You wouldn't want to get on my wrong side. Oh, and about the bleeding dagger... I killed Cordero and I killed Harstle, the man who was talked about by the couple in East Ardougne, remember?"

I didn't reply. My heart was sinking in fear as my sweat continuously dropped on the floor. Honnen laughed. "I miss my friends. I remember how we used to play together. I see you've already met them." He looked down in the hole. "Hi Harry. Hi Diana!" He waved his crappy little hands at them, as if they were alive.

He was an insult! "Why'd you kill them?" I managed to speak properly.

"We were playing hide and seek," Honnen told me. "Harry was it. I hid with Diana in one of these large houses. We were hiding in a congested place and our bodies touched. She told me I stank and went to hide somewhere else. Well, that's why I killed her. Then, Harry found me and I was infuriated. I had never lost in a game of hide and seek. And Harry had to go too." He giggled after finishing.

He was a complete freak! A psychopath! A deranged devil! I had to get out! I ran for the door, but Honnen tackled me. He was surprisingly strong. I was laying on the floor with Honnen on top of me. His breath smelled like blood. He pointed the dagger at my neck. "Escape won't work here," He licked his lips. "You don't know me, Ken. Zamorak has ordered us Zamorakians to kill all Saradominites and Guthixians in Gielinor. And so, I'm only doing what my lord wants from me. He granted me power that a normal child can't have." He started laughing, and his soft childish laugh literally turned into a man's laughter.

"Get away from me!" I was terrified and shoved him off of me and ran for the door. He quickly got up and held my leg and hurled me at his side with ease.

"Like I said, escape won't work," His human-like eyes were replaced with empty black sockets. I shrieked and turned back. His skin was slowly turning pale. His entire figure changed. He looked like a famine-victim. He was as skinny as any skeleton and the hair on his head fell.

"What are you!?" I cried out loud. He walked slowly towards me. Dagger ready to stab me. I gave out a loud cry, hoping someone would hear me. But it was obvious in an empty neighbourhood like this, who's there that can hear me?

"Come to me!" He whispered through his dried, bleeding lips. Honnen's odour was similar to that of the dead bodies. He grabbed hold of my neck and his bony grip was tight. I was choking. He brought his dagger close to my face. Just as he was about to cut my eyes out, the ground started shaking. Honnen stopped and looked about to see what was happening. His body transformed back into his "alive" form. The ground was rumbling and suddenly, a demon emerged from the floor. It was the same demon which attacked Lumbridge and the one that attacked Varrock. Honnen's expression turned from deadly to fear. A murderer such as him was scared of demons like these. The demon glared at Honnen with its piercing red eyes and slowly walked towards him. The demon grabbed hold of both of Honnen's arms and in an instant pulled them out of their places. Honnen screamed and cried like a little child, his demonic appearance was clearly gone now. I let the demon do as it pleased, half because I wanted Honnen to die, and half because I was scared myself. Honnen's tears rushed down his cheek and his voice was now like that of a baby. The demon showed no mercy and slowly ate him alive.

In a matter of minutes, Honnen's belly was opened and eaten and Honnen was dead. The demon then looked at me and whispered something weird. I was ready to die. I closed me eyes and got ready, but as I did the demon had disappeared. What just happened? I was about to get killed by Honnen but here I found Honnen's belly opened right infront of me. Did the demon just... save my life?

I got up and hurriedly picked up my bag pack; I never wanted to see this horrible place ever again! As I reached for the door, I saw a journal in Honnen's bag. I was a bit fond of reading just about anything, and a journal inside Honnen's bag was very odd. It was his diary. I opened the last written page and it read:

I was delighted to have my friends over at my house to play hide and seek with me. I was waiting for them at our secret tunnel and after an hour they finally showed up! Diana looked really beautiful in her yellow dress and Harry, the silent type as always, looked like an innocent child with his hair neatly combed. We went to my house and started the game. I was it and started counting. After the 100th count I went to search for them. I knew this place inside out and there wasn't a single hiding place I didn't know of. I found Harry hiding under a large basket right outside my house. And Diana was behind the door of one of the large haunted house. Then, it was Harry's turn to seek since I found him first. Diana was so attractive that I wanted to hide with her! I showed her a very enclosed hiding spot and said that we both had to get in there. She agreed and we both went in. Our bodies were touching each others. After a moment of hiding, she stated that it was getting smelly in here. She went outside the hiding place and hid somewhere else. Obviously she indirectly was referring to my stench and so I took out a sharp wooden piece from the wall beside me and stabbed her back. What can I say, she called me stinky! Harry found me due to Diana's screams. Two things: I have never lost in a game of hide and seek and Harry found me which really made me mad, and, Harry knew I killed Diana, I can't let him tell anyone else. I chased him across the neighbourhood until I finally got hold of him and choked him to death. I brought the two dead bodies in my house and dropped Harry's body under the floorboard. I tore off Diana's dress and.... (this part was scribbled and burnt a little)... after that I dropped her bare, bloody body down the floorboard along with her ripped up dress.

13th October, Friday, 10th year of the Fifth Age.

The story ended here. I was surprised at the child's freaking mind. He was really the most deranged person in this world. Then, I recalled the date I read. 10th year of the Fifth Age! What was the date today? Today was 13th October, 169th year of the Fifth Age. The journal entry was made on 10 FA (Fifth Age) and the year today was 169 FA. This journal entry was made 159 years ago! My heart was beating fast as I had traveled not only with a deranged psychopath, but with the ghost of a deranged psychopath. Honnen has been dead for 159 years and today was the exact same day he killed his two friends. The same day in which I could've died, if it wasn't for that demon who "saved" me...

Chapter Fifteen

What was going on? An innocent child whom I had travelled with for so long had turned out to be evil. But the demons whom I despised so much have turned out to "save" me from Honnen. Or did they? Maybe they had a grudge with Honnen and his family? Or maybe they really did save me? Why would they do such a thing? I put those thoughts away and decided to leave this godforsaken place. I tried opening the door but it was sealed shut. I gave it a tackle but it didn't open. Then finally I kicked it several times and it opened. As I left the place I sensed that the streets of West Ardougne were now even more silent than ever. The haunted neighbourhood of Honnen was naturally silent, but as I left it I saw a bloody trail leading into the town square. All the inhabitants of West Ardougne were lying there, dead! The bodies bleeding and shredded! Some of them had parts removed, some had big holes made in, and some were cut severely. It was certainly the work of the demons. Those tentacled monsters might have saved me but this was just too much. As I walked towards the exit of West Ardougne I heard the scream of an old man.

"Wait!" I heard. "Stop! Please! You have to help me!"

I looked back and saw the gruesome sight of an old man who had lost both of his legs. He was dragging his body towards me, his arms just barely managing to lift his weight. His head was bald and his gray beard was smeared in blood. I was scared of the sight. Even though I was supposed to feel pity for the old man, I still felt scared of him. As he neared me he grabbed my legs with his bloodstained hands and pulled me. I lost balance and fell on my back. The man still had my legs held and kept pulling me as if he wanted to eat me. Well, that's what I thought.

"Please, help me!" He said softly this time. His grip was very tight and his long nails scratched through my skin as his grip tightened. I soon lost control and got so scared that I pulled my legs away from the horrid grip and kicked the old man's face. After that I heard no sound. Not even a moan or a whisper. I checked the old man's condition and to my horror he was dead.

"He was in pain anyways," I whispered to myself, trying my best to comfort myself from the murder. "I did a good thing. I put him in a better place; to rest." I got up and ran away from the scene. I reached the wall separating East Ardougne from West Ardougne. I couldn't find the tunnel Honnen and I entered through, so I tried climbing the wall. I found very few ragged sides of the wall so climbing wasn't the best option. I took out my dagger and used it to make the wall ragged. After several strikes most of the wall had become ragged and climbing wasn't easy but easier than before. I managed to climb across the wall and reach my destination.

I crossed the wall and saw that East Ardougne was no different. The houses were battered and the watchtowers destroyed. There were bodies lying everywhere. The demons had also terrorised East Ardougne while I was gone. The demons began to worry me to a great extent now. First Varrock, then Lumbridge, and now Ardougne. Three big cities have been destroyed. Hopefully, Falador and Al-Kharid haven't been effected. I calmed myself down of the exhaustion and faced the fact that everyone was dead in this city. Suddenly, something flashed back to my mind, The Saradomin Staff! I had completely forgotten about it! Ever since my run in with the H.A.M. Cult I had totally forgotten about the staff. The staff and my real destination: The Gnome Stronghold. I wasted no time at all and run to the town square. Seeing that everyone was dead I didn't feel guilty when I stole some bread loaves and cake pieces to fill my hunger and patches of fur to keep me warm just in case.

I packed up the remaining bread loaves and furs and headed out of East Ardougne. The sick-looking sheep were still alive; however, the farmer had been slain. Fortunately for me, the Gnome Stronghold was only a day's walk from the entrance of East Ardougne. I would be able to reach there by nightfall. This wasn't going to be such a hard trip after all. But it wasn't long until I realised that I had destroyed the bridge when I was trying to escape the mob. I looked at the map of Kandarin and saw that there was another bridge, but that was far north and it'll probably take me more than an hour. I had no other choice and had to take the other bridge. On my way to the other bridge I encountered many more sick-looking sheep with various colours. After what felt like an hour of endless walking, I realised that the Sun was setting. It seemed that my calculations were wrong about the trip. Now I'd probably reach there either during midnight or at dawn. I grew a bit hopeless and tired and wondered why I took this trip? Oh yeah, to get some melee training from the gnomes in order to defeat the two vampires heading to Varrock in about four weeks time. I laid down on the grass and looked up at the night sky. There were many stars and a few clouds. It was the night of the crescent moon. For some reason, night times had always been that part of the day when I felt most energised and active. Specifically, the night of the full moon.

My eyes slowly shut and I was almost asleep. I was disturbed by a rustling sound among the thick grass. It must've been an animal, I wondered. I shut my eyes again, but was again disturbed by the same rustling noise. This time, I sat up and looked alarmed. Wondering it must be the demons, I wielded my dagger and was prepared for an ambush. My expectations were wrong. Instead of ugly, tentacled demons with bloodthirsty, red eyes, I saw a group of lovely ladies with light brown to blond hair each holding a Steel spear and wearing light, Iron chain mail armour. Their feet were bare and covered in mud and their faces were weather-bitten. I wasn't ready for a bunch of humans to assault me and so the ladies got me by surprise and surrounded me with sharp spears ready to be lunged. They spoke to each other in an odd language. After a moment of talking to each other one of the ladies, the oldest one perhaps, spoke.

"Who are you?" she said.

"Why does it matter?" I questioned, learning from past experience that mentioning my name in these parts could mean trouble.

"I asked you your name," the elder woman pointed her spear close to my neck.

"Ken," I said, shoving the spear aside.

"Ken who?" She asked, while the other ladies stood by me with their spears pointed to my back.

"I don't know my full name," I said.

"He's lying," The elder woman said and gestured to one of her woman to kill me.

"OK OK, I'll talk, I'll talk!" I yelled. "My name is Ken. Ken Scythe (I had to use Wally's surname)."

"Where are you from?" The elder woman further questioned me.

"Varrock," I said.

"And why are you here?" She asked.

"I wanted to go to the Gnome Stronghold."

"Any specific reason?" She asked. Her questions really began to annoy me.

"No, just wanted to visit it," I replied. I hoped my answer was wise. "I'm a traveller."

"Very well 'traveller', we spare you," She said. "But travelling all by yourself in these parts can prove to be quite dangerous. Mind if we escort you there?"

"No, not at all," I exclaimed. I could use the extra protection and besides, I could learn a lot from them. "Be my guests."

"Good." That was all she said. After that she whistled and five more women came out from the bushes. They were eleven in total, including the elder woman.

"Now, care to give me some answers?" I said.

"What do you want?" The elder woman asked with impatience.

"Who are you?" I simply asked. "It's my only question and don't worry, I'm not going to be a threat to you in anyway."

"Are you sure?" She cautiously asked. "It is quite confidential but, seeing that you are nothing but a mere traveller, we'll tell you. We are the Warrior Women of Kandarin."

"Aren't there Warrior Women in Varrock Castle with King Roald?" I asked, bewildered.

"Yes there are," She replied. "We are just another branch. The Warrior Women were meant to serve no leader, we just stay in different locations just in case weary people need our help. Now, stop talking and lets hurry to the Stronghold or else we might not get there until tomorrow morning."

I picked my bag and followed the Warrior Women. Although the Warrior Women were reputable throughout Gielinor for their immense power and strength in numbers I, for one, felt very uneasy asking them for protection. First of all, they were women, they were supposed to be asking me for protection. And second of all, they are reputed for their strength in numbers, these women were only eleven which is clearly not a large group. I crossed my fingers and hoped that the H.A.M. or any other threat don't attack us. Though the night was cold, I was sweating a bit from the intense nervousness. We walked for hours on end with very few intervals. The Warrior Women didn't seem to tire at all! Whenever we stopped for a bit of rest I was the only one who sat or lay down panting, while the women just stood there waiting for me to get back up.

We finally made a stop just north of the Combat Training Camp. The elder woman stated that we were only an hour's walk away from the entrance of the Stronghold. The Warrior Women tore off some leaves from the trees and used them as mattresses. I was surprised to find out how primitive the life of the Warrior Women of Kandarin was. The women back in Varrock were much nobler. I didn't have any mattress or blanket so I took some leaves myself and slept, feeling itchy too. I didn't realise how tired I was and fell asleep as soon as I laid myself on the ground.

* * *

The morning was damp and cold. I woke up to find my clothes were wet and covered in mud. I saw that the Warrior Women were nowhere in sight. I began to worry that they must've dumped me or maybe I had been tricked into a trap.

"You slept well last night," I heard the elder woman speak as she came into view from the thick bushes.

"Where did you women go?" I asked.

"It rained last night," She explained. "As soon as we heard thunder we quickly got up and made for the trees seeking shelter under the branches. One of my women tried waking you up but you were knocked out!"

"So you left me to sleep in the cold?" I asked outrageously.

"I was hoping that the rain water would wake you up," She said. "But it seems not even mother nature can disturb your slumber."

"Humph."

"Come, we haven't any time to waste," She gestured for me to follow her and then whistled, summoning her few soldiers.

I followed the Warrior Women and within few minutes we reached a large, wooden fence around twelve feet tall. The elder woman told me that this was the southeastern wall of the Gnome Stronghold. She treated me like I really was a traveller, and at first I appreciated the information, but later on it began to bore me. From southeastern wall to south wall, we were walking faster than last night. There was dew on the leaves of the trees and I thought that it looked beautiful. The entrance of the Stronghold didn't seem any farther away to me now, but I was wrong. We reached the gate directly within an hour! I saw the magnificent, wooden gate, made out of the hardest Yew trees found in Kandarin and standing thirty feet tall. It was a sight to remember, despite it being just a mere gate. I was awed with admiration that I hardly noticed the Warrior Women. I turned around to see that they were out of sight and gone. Well, at least I reached my destination. But before I asked the Gnome guards to let me in, I suddenly remembered of the Saradomin Staff I had forgotten to retrieve during my trip. I remembered putting it somewhere south of the entrance of the Stronghold and southwest of the Combat Training Camp. I had to leave my destination and travel again to get the staff and then finally enter the Stronghold meeting up with my would-be tutor!

Chapter Sixteen

I couldn't believe it! I had forgotten to take the Saradomin Staff twice! How could I have been so irresponsible? The Gnome Stronghold was there, right in front of me. I had travelled for so long just to reach here and now I had to go back and retrieve the staff! I was tired and nearly lost hope. The Gnome Guards looked at me sternly. Probably wondering why I was standing there. I looked at them back in the eye, which made them look away. I had no other option, so I turned around and walked towards the Combat Training Camp. If I remembered right, I had buried the Saradomin Staff somewhere south of the Gnome Stronghold and south west of the Combat Training Camp.

The soil was still damp from the rain the night before and the soles of my boots were really dirty. Not to mention by clothes, which had been damped and were covered in mud. I was stinking like a rotten tomato! I put those thoughts aside and focused only on retrieving the Staff. My thoughts then shifted towards Rose and Melina, and Wally and Sin. I hoped for the best. I just didn't want them to worry for me as I was worrying for them. What if the two vampires found a short cut and would be in Varrock a little early from the prescribed date? Or what if they were already there? The thoughts made me jog, then gradually run, towards the Saradomin Staff's location. I remembered that I had buried the Staff beside an unusually large Oak Tree. As I neared the location, a flock of birds immediately flew from the trees on my right, which startled me. I looked up and saw several birds flying away from something. As I was wondering what might have caused the birds to fly off in such a rush, someone knocked me over.

"Hey, what the hell?" I shouted, as I pushed a young man with jet black hair and a dusty face and clothes aside.

"Run!" The man yelled and quickly ran east.

"What?" I was on the ground wondering what the man meant. My question was answered when I heard a large roar. The trees and bushes were cleared away by a large Ogre. The Ogre stomped its gigantic foot at me but I fortunately rolled away. I ran towards the same direction as the man had with the Ogre hot on my trail.

"What the hell is going on?" I said, as I caught up with the man.

"Tell you later," the man said while trying to outrun the Ogre who was surprisingly fast.

"I know a hiding place," I said. "Follow me."

Leading the trail, the man followed me to the large Oak Tree where I had buried my Saradomin Staff. We quickly climbed up the tree and hid ourselves amidst the thick branches and leaves.

"Don't make any noise," I whispered. We didn't make any noise, but the sounds of our panting could've been enough for the Ogre to find us. Fortunately, the Ogre didn't notice that we had changed the direction and it kept going further assuming that it was still chasing us. "That was close." I said quietly making my way down the tree. The young man, probably a few years older than me, jumped down the tree with ease. "You got pretty strong legs."

"Thanks," the man said as he sat to rest under the tree.

"What happened?" I asked, sitting beside him.

"I was travelling to Isafdar," the man spoke. "On the way I stopped by the Combat Training Camp and decided to entertain myself by killing a few Ogres which were inside the cage. The Ogres got mad and broke free of their imprisonment."

"If there were 'Ogres' then how come we only encountered one?" I asked.

"I managed to dispose the others," the man got up. "Well, I have to go."

"Why do you want to go to Isafdar?" I asked.

"To settle some family disputes," the man spoke confidently and then started walking away.

"Wait," I stopped him. "Can I at least know your name."

"The name's Bartholomew Magus," He spoke.

"Ken," I said. "Ken Karomaz."

"Nice name," That was something new. "Well, got to run. Ciao!"

I saw as Bartholomew stealthily ran through the forest. I realized that I was standing on top of the Saradomin Staff's burial ground. But I wasn't completely sure where it was buried. My nails got to work as I started digging and digging. The digging hurt my fingers and my nails got dusty and dirty. After sometime of digging I saw something golden and shiny. It was the shape of a four-pointed star and it was none other than the Saradomin Staff! I quickly dug some more and then pulled out the staff. I finally retrieved the Saradomin Staff! I quickly thought about Rose and Melina whilst holding the staff and closed my eyes. Rose and Melina came in my mind and I could see that they were in a small quarter. Rose was sleeping on a straw bed while Melina went outside their quarter. She greeted some Warrior Women and Knights and I soon figured that they were in Varrock Castle! I opened my eyes again, and wondered. Why would they be in the Varrock Castle? Was King Roald holding them as hostages for me to come out and rescue them? Or were they seeking refuge in the Castle maybe because the demons had destroyed the cabin? I quickly stopped thinking negative about their situation and closed my eyes and started thinking about Wally and Sin. They were in the Wilderness, no doubt. Sin was doing some Combat moves as Wally was watching. Then I saw Wally repeat the moves which Sin did. I was glad to see that they had already started their training, unlike me. I only had three to four weeks and every second counted.

I pulled out a few leaves and stuck them on the Saradomin Symbol atop the Staff to hide it from thieves or suspicious people. After the Symbol had been covered it looked like any other staff, only exception was that it had a white body. I walked back all the way to the Gnome Stronghold, not worrying about the Ogre that I had encountered. Then, I heard the Ogre's roar and I guessed I had to hurry up. I ran to the Stronghold, instead. By nightfall I reached the Stronghold gates and saw as the Gnome Guards changed position and the night time duty arrived.

"Here," I gave them the bag of coins which had 2,000 gold pieces. "I wish to enter the Stronghold."

The Gnome Guards looked inside the bag and made sure that the gold was real. After confirming the gold was real they counted the amount and then handed me the bag back. "Sorry," the high pitched voice of the Gnome Guard pierced the air and kind of startled me. "The toll fee has been recently changed by King Narnode Shareen and it is now 5,000 gold pieces."

"You're kidding me, right?" I asked. "Please say you are." The Gnome Guards just looked at each other awkwardly. I had travelled all the way from Varrock just to find that I can't enter my destination just because of the stupid toll fee! I didn't lose hope though. I had to get in the Stronghold one way or the other. Since the walls of the Stronghold were twelve feet high I figured I could get over it if I find a tree close to the walls. I travelled west of the gate and kept walking. I walked along the walls, searching for a tree close enough the walls and big enough for me to climb over the wall. Unfortunately, none of the trees were close enough and if they were close, they weren't big enough. I had been walking for quite sometime now until I finally saw a tree which was big and pretty close to the walls. I wasn't much of a nature specialist but, judging by the tree's thick bark and big leaves, it looked like an Oak Tree to me.

I looked up at the sky and saw that it was the night of the full Moon. For some odd reason, I had always been active at night times and very active on the night of the full Moon. It was a good omen for me, that I might make it in. First, I held the staff tightly in my mouth and climbed up the tree. The bark hurt my body but it was worth the climb. I finally got hold of a branch and made my way up. My teeth were aching from having to hold the Saradomin Staff for so long. I crawled to the end of the branch and peeked over the wall to check if there were any Gnomes. Luckily, I didn't see any Gnome in sight. I took out the Saradomin Staff from my mouth and gave one giant leap over the wall. I crash landed on the hard, Gnomish territory. I had hurt my left leg but not injured it. I got up and didn't realize a crowd of Gnomes surrounding me. I was sweating to the limit. I didn't know what to do. Then, one of the Gnomes yelled out to call the guards. I made a run for it. The Gnomes dispersed, some chasing me, and some running away. I was clearly outrunning them but then a huge gang of guards was waiting for me ahead. I was surrounded north and south. Then, I heard a high pitched whisper. I looked at my left and saw a Gnome dressed in blue Wizard Robes fit for a Gnome. He gestured for me to follow him and I obeyed. We ran behind rocks and bushes and weren't seen by the guards. The Gnome led me inside a small cave.

"Thanks for the rescue," I said, panting. "I'm Ken Karomaz."

"I don't care who you are," the Gnome said sternly with his funny Gnomish accent. "I only saved you because your staff interests me."

"Oh, the staff," I hid it behind me. "Its just an ordinary staff. I had it painted white."

"Yeah sure," the Gnome said. "Where did you get the Saradomin Staff?"

"First of all," I said bravely. "Tell me who you are!"

"Very well then, I'll tell since you are so eager to know," the Gnome sat down on a wooden chair. "I am Brimstail, the only Gnome Wizard in the Tree Gnome Stronghold. I have a great deal of knowledge in the Runic Magic and the Runes themselves. I am also familiar with the spell that can teleport a being into the Rune Essence Mine. I also am a friend of Kolodion's."

"You know Kolodion?" I asked. "If so, do you know who Sin is?"

"Ah, that bratty elf," The Gnome replied. "Yes, I know who he was. He was an annoying child, he was. Can't believe Kolodion actually took him in as his student! What happened to him?"

"He told me to come to the Tree Gnome Stronghold to seek some melee training," I told Brimstail. "Could you be the one he was talking about?"

"Well, I certainly know nothing about melee combat," Brimstail struck his light beard. "But when it comes to magic, I can teach you a great deal."

"Sorry," I said. "I didn't come here to learn Magic. Do you know any Melee Tutor here?"

"No," the Gnome said. "I was going to teach you the Modern Magics but since you refused..."

"Uh," I was confused. "I guess if I can't find any Melee Tutor, you'll do. Teach me Magic then. I want you to teach me something big, such as the Bolt Attacks."

"Very well then," Brimstail handed me two Air Runes and one Chaos Rune. "Cast an Air Bolt on this here book shelf. I want the book shelf to fall down."

"Aer Claustrum," I whispered under my breath and then a gust of wind was formed in my hand and it successfully struck the bookshelf, however, it did not fall. "There, I successfully cast an Air Bolt." I felt proud of myself.

"No, no, no!" Brimstail yelled. "I will not allow you to make a mockery of Magic! That was not an Air Bolt! No where near an Air Bolt!"

"But," I was confused. "I had the proper Runes and said the right spell."

"What!?" Brimstail was mad. "Magic isn't only about having the appropriate Runes and whispering some gibberish! Your 'Air Bolt' had no life in it! Do you not know the reason the book shelf didn't fall? Huh?"

"Uh, your book shelf is pretty strong then," I said, smiling.

"Stop it!" Brimstail yelled.

"Stop what?" I said.

"Mocking Magic!" Brimstail said. "I guess we'll have to learn from the basics. Here take these runes." He handed me some Air Runes and some Mind Runes. "Cast an Air Strike for me. I want to see if you have mastered at least the most basic of spells."

"Aer Battuo," I whispered and successfully cast an Air Strike. The book shelf still did not fall, which was expected as an Air Strike was very weak.

"Incorrect," Brimstail said sternly. "That again was not an Air Strike!"

"If you're wondering why the book shelf didn't fall," I said. "Well, its because Air Strike is a weak spell."

Brimstail laughed. "You are a fool! I've seen beginner Wizards cast an Air Strike that can shatter large boulders! Do you really underestimate the power of any Magic Spell? If so, then you are a complete idiot! I suggest you go to sleep for now. I'll teach you how Magic is really done first thing tomorrow at dawn!"

This guy was a complete crack! He was acting as if he knew everything about Magic! What an ego he had! Well, Brimstail showed me to my sleeping place, a straw mattress with no pillow or blanket. Despite the uncomfortable feeling, I slept soundly.

Chapter Seventeen

"Wake up!" I heard a strange voice. "Ken! Get up!" Suddenly, I felt a splash of moisture on my face. My eyes opened. I saw Brimstail standing by me holding an empty bucket. "Good, you're awake. Lets get back to your training."

"Couldn't you think of any other way to wake me up!" I yelled at him.

"Nope," he said. "You're one heck of a sleeper."

I dried my face with my clothes, getting up to stretch a bit.

"Hurry up and get ready," Brimstail said impatiently. "We have much work to do."

"Yeah yeah," I said, as I rubbed my eyes and went over to a large bucket filled with water. I took some water in my hands and washed my face with the cold water.

"Are you ready yet?" Brimstail said.

"Be patient!" I said. I washed my hair a bit and then said, "Yeah, I'm ready."

"Good," Brimstail said. "Grab some runes and cast another Air Strike."

"Do I have to learn from the basics!?" I asked him, speaking rather loudly.

"Yes," Brimstail said, turning his back to me. "You are a disgrace to Magic and I would be ashamed of myself if I ever taught you the advance spells without you knowing the basics."

"Very well," I said. I focused my vision on the bookshelf and whispered its Spell Code. "Aer Battuo!" I successfully cast an Air Strike but, obviously, the bookshelf did not fall down. I looked at Brimstail, hoping to get a good response.

"Why did you come here if you didn't know Magic in the first place?" Brimstail said calmly but offensively.

"I came here to learn Melee!" I yelled at him. "You were the one who forced me to learn this dumb Magic!"

"You need help," Brimstail said. He came closer to me. "Now, I want you to feel the air around you."

"We're inside a cave," I stated. "How can I possibly feel any air?"

"Feel your exhalation then," He said. I did as he said. I breathed in and then out and felt the warm air coming out from my nose and touching my hands. "An Elemental Spell is always cast successfully if you can feel the particular element around you," Brimstail explained. "I want you to cast another Air Strike similarly."

I took some more Runes and took a deep breath. After whispering the Spell Code I exhaled and felt the warm air touch my hands yet again. Then I cast an Air Strike. I felt magical energy rush through my veins and into the Air Strike I cast. The spell struck the book shelf and it was shattered into mere wooden pieces with the books lying on the ground.

"Good!" Brimstail exclaimed happily. "Now that was an Air Strike!"

"What about your bookshelf?" I asked.

"Oh don't worry about that," Brimstail said. "I can have it repaired for free from King Shareen. Shall we move on?"

"Yeah!" I said.

"All right," Brimstail took out a few more Runes from his drawer. "Lets cast the Earth Strike."

"What!?" I yelled. "I thought you were going to teach me Air Bolt!?"

"Ha!" Brimstail laughed. "Do you think you could possibly master the Bolt Spells without completely knowing the basic Elemental Spells? I think not! Now, cast an Earth Strike for me."

"How do I do this?" I asked.

"Feel the earthly element around you," Brimstail said.

"And that is...?" I asked.

"Do you not have any common sense!?" Brimstail yelled impatiently. "We are in a cave! Look around you! Earth is everywhere!"

He was really impatient! I hated him! But I had to learn something. I felt the rugged cave ground through my boots. I couldn't feel it properly, so I pressed my foot against the rough ground and finally felt some bumps on the ground. The soles of my boots were rather worn out so I could feel some of the soil touching my feet. After a moments silence I whispered, "Terra Battuo!" I felt the same feeling of magical energy rushing through my veins and into the Earth Strike spell. A green aura-like substance was formed and shot to the nearby bookshelf. Brimstail's second and last bookshelf shattered into tinier bits and even some of the books' pages were torn off.

"That was excellent!" Brimstail said, rather excited. "Perfect! A brilliantly cast Earth Strike!"

"How come you didn't teach me Water Strike?" I asked. "Its easier to cast than Earth Strike."

"Not in this cave its not," Brimstail said. "Despite Water Strike being weaker and easier than Earth Strike it certainly is one of the most restricted Elemental Spells along with Fire."

"Why is that so?" I asked.

"In order to cast Water Strike you need to feel water around you," Brimstail explained. "But if there's no water than you have to feel the dampness and moisture on the ground. If, again, that is not present then feel the humidity in the air."

"And for fire?" I asked.

"Fire is surely the hardest!" Brimstail said. "You need to feel fire, of course. But if there's no fire then you need to feel the heat around you."

"How is that hard?" I asked. "Heat is everywhere."

"True," Brimstail said. "But for a good and effective Fire Strike you need extreme heat. Heat which is found in the Kharidian Desert."

"I see," I said.

"Now that you have mastered Earth Strike I suppose Water Strike won't be a problem for you," Brimstail said. "Lets move on to Air Bolt."

"What about Fire Strike?" I asked.

"Ha! For that I suggest you go to Al-Kharid," Brimstail smiled. He went over to one of his drawers and gave me some Air and Chaos Runes.

"Do I have to do the same thing which I did for Air Strike?" I asked.

"Not quite," Brimstail said. "Yes, the feeling of the air part is the same. But you also have to feel the essence of Chaos."

"How do I do that?"

"Child, do you have any bad memories?" Brimstail asked. Upon asking that question my mind reminded me of the massacre at Varrock. The way the woman was killed and how I found my grandparents dead.

"Yes," I said, looking down.

"I'm sorry if it offended you," Brimstail said, worried. "The reason of me saying that was because an Air Bolt needs the caster's anger to power it. The angrier the Wizard is the better your Air Bolt."

"I understand," I said. "Where should I strike it?"

"Just cast it on the wall," Brimstail pointed.

I reminded myself of those dreaded demons that killed my grandparents. I was trying to anger myself, but fear overcame me as I thought of the demons' red eyes. "I'm sorry, Brimstail. Its just..."

"Don't worry, child," Brimstail said. "Just try harder, I'll be patient this time."

I thought about the demons again, while at the same time trying to feel my exhalation. It certainly was harder. My mind wasn't used to thinking two different things at the same time. I pictured the demons slaughtering the people of Varrock. And then I saw my grandparents' dead bodies on their beds. The thoughts made my cry. Tears slowly streamed down my cheeks. But then a sudden rush of revenge awoke inside me. I knew what I had to do. I had to kill the demons who killed my loved ones. Brimstail's wall turned into the demon and I screamed while casting the Air Bolt, "Aer Claustrum!" A bigger flow of magical energy rushed inside me and into my Air Bolt powering it. The Air Bolt swiftly struck the cave walls and cracked it severely. I was panting. Exhausted from what I had done.

"Very good," Brimstail said as he noticed my exhaustion. "This is why I didn't want to teach you directly from the advanced spells. They require too much effort."

"No," I said, wiping some sweat from my forehead. "I'm fine."

"You don't look too fine to me," Brimstail said. After finishing his statement he heard the sounds of trumpets. He turned around and exclaimed, "Oh no! Its the King! You must hide, Ken!"

"Where?" I quickly said.

"Anywhere!" Brimstail said, making sure his voice wasn't heard by the King outside. "Just stay inside the cave while I go talk outside." Brimstail went up the stone staircase to meet with the King. "Good morning, sir!" I faintly heard Brimstail's voice.

"Good morning, Brimstail," King Narnode Shareen spoke. His voice weirder than Brimstail's. "There's rumour that a human has entered our Stronghold without properly paying the toll fee."

"Really, sir?" Brimstail said. "I heard nothing of the sort."

"I'm sure you didn't," King Narnode said strictly. "There's also rumours that the human is hiding inside your cave."

"Why, that's ridiculous sir!" Brimstail said. "I hate humans! Why would I pet one?"

"Get out of my way," I heard King Narnode say that and then heard footsteps. The footsteps grew louder by every step. I was nervously hiding behind a large pot of plant. I was shivering a lot. And one of the guards spotted me.

"He's over there by the plant pot!" The guard yelled. I quickly got up and ran towards the exit but I was blocked by a wall of Gnome Guards. Then, King Narnode rushed towards me with his spear. But before anything could happen Brimstail climbed on top of King Narnode and blocked his vision while pulling his hair.

"Run, Ken!" Brimstail said. I grabbed my Saradomin Staff and ran, managing to push some Gnome Guards aside. I reached the exit of the cave and ran for the Gnome Stronghold's border walls. Upon reaching the walls I sat down, hiding myself behind the medium-sized grass. I saw through the grass as Brimstail was trying to break free from the Gnome Guards' grip. He was struggling too much that King Narnode quietened him by punching his face. Then, the Gnome Guards dragged Brimstail away.

I felt really stupid for running away and not staying to help Brimstail. He helped me so much by teaching me some new Spells, and this was what I gave in return. But then, my real friends back at Varrock needed me too. There was only a few days left for the Vampires' arrival in Varrock. It was like, the more I wanted to complete my mission, the more my mission expanded. I closed my eyes while holding the Saradomin Staff and concentrated on Rose and Melina. They were talking to each other near the fountain of Varrock Square. Rose's expression was worrying me. She looked like she had lost something. Melina went over and hugged her. I hope nothing bad happened to them.

Then, I thought about Wally and Sin. They were no longer in the Wilderness. It seemed they were sitting by a camp fire just outside Varrock's west entrance. Looks like Wally had finished his training, I thought. I guess I still had less than a week to go back home. I got up and took some long grass and used it to tie the Saradomin Staff to my back. Brimstail, I'm coming.

Chapter Eighteen

The morning was rather dull in the Gnome Stronghold. Dark clouds filled the morning sky, blocking the dreaded sun rays and protecting me from any Gnome's vision. I crouched my back and walked along the tall grass, trying my best to hide as much of myself as possible. I walked slow at first, until I reached Brimstail's cave's entrance. After that, my pace quickened and I ran through the tall grass, undetected. The tall grass soon gave way to medium-sized grass, until finally, my only safe passage was gone. Fortunately, there weren't any Gnomes in sight. I decided to walk comfortably now. I stood up straight and observed the map of Kandarin. The Grand Tree was located in the north eastern side of the Tree Gnome Stronghold, so I headed for north east, with the Saradomin Staff tied tightly on my back.

The dark clouds in the sky began to resemble the clouds I saw back in Varrock when the demons had assaulted it. However, it was like any other cloud so I decided to ignore it. After what seemed to be fifteen minutes of walking I finally caught glimpse of the massive Grand Tree. No wonder they called it that! It was huge! The trunk of the tree was big enough to fit at least one large house. The height of the Grand Tree soared way above into the sky, touching the clouds. Was this the work of Mother Nature? Or did the Gnomes construct this? It was amazing however, standing close to one of Gielinor's most recognised monuments. Then, I saw in the horizon, Brimstail was being dragged by the Gnome Guards and into the Grand Tree. Now was my chance to follow them. I quietly walked behind the army of guards and made sure that my feet didn't touch any grass. King Narnode Shareen was walking ahead of the army and so it was hard to see him. The gigantic doors of the Grand Tree were opened for the guards and this was where I had to stop. I couldn't just sneak behind the guards and get in. I stayed back and cursed in my heart.

The evening Sun began to set and it was nearly night. I had kept full observation on the Gnome Guards guarding the entrance to the Grand Tree. Luckily, the guards had to leave and the night shift duty had to arrive. I examined the guards as they walked down the wooden stairs and into their quarters. For a few seconds I didn't see any night shift guards, so I quickly ran towards the wooden doors of the Tree. Unfortunately, there was a small padlock which I hadn't seen before since I didn't get a closer look. I quickly scrambled towards the bushes again as the night shift guards arrived. I tried coming up with any kind of plan but my mind didn't come up with any. I decided that it wasn't the time for a clever plan as I had little time left. Brimstail needed me, and my friends needed me as well. I had to jump outside my hiding place and assault the two guards head on. But I had to time it right. I came as close to the wooden stairs as possible. The guards were busy talking to each other. I counted, 3, 2, 1! I sprang out of the bushes screaming loudly as I heard one of the guards curse. I ran towards the guards at full speed and tackled one of them against the wooden wall so hard that the back of his head started bleeding. He was unconscious. The other guard tried stabbing me with his spear but I easily held it in my hand and knocked him aside using his own spear. Then, I stabbed him with the spear. The two guards were out and the previous two guards were still asleep. I searched the fallen guards for keys to the padlock and the one with the popped head had it. There were three silver keys tied together. I tried all of them and one of them unlocked the huge doors. The doors creaked whilst opening.

The room was as big as expected. There was an oversized throne built for King Narnode Shareen, and even though it was several feet away from me, I was able to see every detail on it. There were beautifully carved gemstones and weird Gnomish designs all over the throne. There were two very large green Gnome Standards on either side of the throne with a green sun insignia. Besides that, there were several plant pots and busts of famous Gnomish people near the walls of Throne Room. There was also a ladder in the centre of the room. I left the doors open to let a little light in and walked towards the ladder. I climbed it to reach the second floor. The second floor had two large rooms on my right and left. I checked the room on my right and I saw that it only had a pub, a restaurant, and a clothes store. The left room had another restaurant, a grocery store, and two banks. Since the second floor had no prison, I climbed up to the third floor. The third floor had rooms to my north, south, east, and west. The northern, western, and eastern rooms were useless whereas the southern room had what looked like a weapons store. There wasn't any prison here so I climbed up to the fourth floor. This floor was rather small as compared to the other floors and I assumed it to be the topmost floor because there wasn't any ladder. I went a little deeper in the room and saw a medium-sized cell. The prison was big enough for around ten to fifteen criminals. I saw Brimstail, lying there asleep.

"Brimstail," I whispered, rattling the cell's iron bars with my nails.

"Huh, what?" Brimstail opened his eyes and sat up, alarmed.

"Its OK," I whispered. "Its only me."

"Ken!?" Brimstail spoke a little louder this time. It was obvious the man was happy to see me. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to bust you out," I said, feeling how strong the iron bars were.

"Its no use," Brimstail said hopelessly. "These bars are too strong to be broken. Unless you had a strong weapon."

"There has to be another way," I thought. "How about magic?"

"I don't have any runes!" Brimstail complained.

"But I do," I said. "I'll give it a go with my Earth Strike." I whispered the spell code of the Earth Strike and concentrated on the feeling of wood against the soles of my boots. I closed my eyes and channelled all my inner energy into the strike until finally I cast an Earth Strike! The green aura ball crashed against the hard iron bars, bending them badly and rendering them useless. I felt the bars this time and they were fairly easy for me to bend aside for Brimstail to escape.

"Who goes there?" Brimstail and I heard a Gnome Guard yell from the floor beneath us.

"We're trapped," I panicked.

"Don't worry, we can still escape via the Gnome Gliders!" Brimstail yelled.

"The Gnome Gliders!?" I asked, bewildered.

Brimstail led me to the other side of the prison room and there it was, the so called Gnome Glider. The 'skeleton' of the glider was made of wood, hard wood, and the gliders consisted of some sort of paper. I think I saw that paper like material back in Al Kharid, when I went with my grandfather as a little child. Brimstail, without saying a thing, got on my back.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked.

"Glide, man, glide!" Brimstail desperately yelled as the Gnome Guards had finished climbing up the ladder. I never had an experience in any sort of aviation. My instinct made me grasp the bottom wooden frame of the glider tightly and I jumped outside the Tree through an opening for the glider. We soared through the air and I never had a better moment of freedom. The breeze flew through my hair, the moisture in the air touching my tongue. It felt great!

My moments of joy were soon interrupted as one of the guards threw his spear and it struck our glider wings. The paper like material tore and our glider started falling down like a shooting star. Brimstail and I screamed loudly. The Gnome Glider crashed right in front of the Grand Tree's entrance. Fortunately, the glider fell on its back and our fall was slightly cushioned. I managed to get up easily, however, Brimstail found it a bit difficult. I helped him get up and said, "Come on, we have to hurry!"

"I can't," Brimstail squealed. "My leg is broken." I instinctively picked him up and told him to hold on to my back. And then, I ran towards the exit of the Stronghold as the Gnome Army chased me.

"What's the fastest way to Varrock?" I asked Brimstail.

"Besides teleportation?" Brimstail said. "I think its the Spirit Tree."

"Where's that?" I asked.

"Just up north," Brimstail pointed.

We finally reached the Spirit Tree. It was quite large. Larger than a Yew Tree but certainly not taller. The main features that distinguished the Spirit Tree from any other ordinary tree was that it had deep hollow eyes with no eye balls. It also had a rather 'wooden' moustache and a mouth. I put Brimstail on the ground and he spoke to the Spirit Tree in a very awkward language. The Spirit Tree replied Brimstail with the same awkward language. I assumed they were speaking ancient Gnomish. I turned around and discovered that the army was closing in on us.

"Hurry up, Brimstail!" I yelled. Brimstail silenced me with a gesture and continued speaking with the Spirit Tree. The army made me nervous. Brimstail was frightening me since he was taking so long and practically didn't care about the army. I shook my fear aside and took out my Saradomin Staff, ready to defend Brimstail and the Spirit Tree.

"Stop!" King Narnode Shareen yelled as he made his way through the army. "We are on Saradomin's side, human!"

"Then leave us alone!" I yelled.

"I'm afraid I can't," Shareen said. "The Zamorakian Humans haven't done us any well, so why should we let an opportunity like this slip by?"

"I'm a Guthixian, not a Zamorakian!" I said confidently.

"So?" Narnode said. "If a Human can be Zamorakian, it shows that the entire race doesn't have a settled heart. Some prefer Zamorak, some Guthix, and some Saradomin. Unlike us Gnomes, we strictly follow Saradomin. If one Human follows Zamorak, then all Humans are capable of following him."

"No!" I replied. "We're not like that. We're complex that's why there are Humans who follow almost all of the Gods."

"I will not go unavenged!" King Narnode yelled. "Attack!" The Gnome Army advanced towards me.

I felt tense. I gripped my Saradomin Staff tightly in my hands. Holding it in front of the advancing army as if it were a sword. My insides tightened. I felt magical energy pass through my veins at great speeds. My actual blood flow stopped momentarily, but my magical flow increased in speed. All of my energy was drained from me and put into the Saradomin Staff I was holding. Then, automatically, my hand with the Staff pointed towards the Gnome Army who had stopped after seeing my Staff glow. They began walking back slowly. Then, they started running. I felt sorry for the army, as they had no chance of escaping. I did it. A huge blast was shot from my Saradomin Staff and it was big enough to destroy the entire army. The blast from the Saradomin Staff struck the army and they were all blasted deep in the ground.

"How did you do that!?" Brimstail asked, surprised.

"I don't know," I said. Panting. "What was that?"

"You just cast a Saradomin Strike!" Brimstail said, bewildered. I was bewildered too, beyond my limits. I didn't even know my own power! First, the constant Fire Waves on Sin, and now a Saradomin Strike on the Gnome Army! What next? "Stop dreaming and lets hurry!"

Brimstail held my hand and whispered something to the Spirit Tree. Then, I felt as if something was pulling me under the ground and after a moment... it was black.

Chapter Nineteen

The feeling was inexplicable! It was like a mix of feelings. My body being stretched thousand miles apart, but my insides remaining intact. My mind felt as if someone had shook me several times. I began to feel dizzy. I was in some sort of realm. Brimstail was beside me. He held my hand and assuringly looked at me as if to let me know that we weren't in any danger. Suddenly, the feelings stopped in an instant and it was black. My vision cleared up slowly and I examined my surrounding. I was back in Varrock!

I looked back and saw the same Spirit Tree as I had back in the Tree Gnome Village. I turned toward the Grand Exchange and the ruins weren't cleared up by King Roald, nor the dead bodies. It was still in the condition Roy had left it when he had first arrived. "That was one hell of a ride!" I exclaimed.

"What happened here?" Brimstail looked at the place, shocked with disbelief. "Who did this?"

"It was the work of a Vampire," I told him. "He had a Saradomin Staff, which enabled him to do all of this."

Brimstail began sobbing quietly. It was obvious that the man had either relations or friends in Varrock. "Is the entire Varrock ruined?" He asked.

"No," I assured him. "Just the Grand Exchange. However, most of Varrock is silent these days." I walked a few feet forward. "There was a massive massacre here a month ago. Demons did all of this. But they looked unfamiliar to me. Like they weren't from anywhere in Gielinor. I believe it was the work of Zamorak."

"I think too," Brimstail said. "That rubbish of a God has gone too far! Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it. May Saradomin aid this world when it needs him most."

"And Guthix too," I added. "Come on, lets go to the castle. I think my friends are there."

"All right," Brimstail said as he tagged along just behind.

Brimstail wasn't used to destruction, and the sight of ruins or dead bodies scared him the most. He frequently held my shirt and stuck close to me like a child would do with his parent. It was surprising to see a master wizard so scared of destruction. After a few minutes of walking we reached the destroyed Varrock West Bank.

"I thought you said that only the Grand Exchange was ruined," Brimstail gulped.

"I guess I forgot to add this one," I said. "But, I assure you that nothing else is destroyed."

"OK," Brimstail said, sweating. The grass which I had used to tie the Saradomin Staff on my back was rendered loose and completely fell. I gave the Saradomin Staff to Brimstail for holding. He grasped it tightly and had it pointing forward, to show that he was ready for any such ambush.

As we left the West Bank several dead bodies lay on the ground. The bodies were of the Varrock Militia. "That's something new," I said, wondering what might have happened in Varrock while I was gone.

"I thought you said that nothing else was bad!" Brimstail shrieked.

"Shut up will you!" I yelled, frustrated by his cowardice. "A lot has happened since I left so you can expect me to not know!" I spoke rather loudly which scared the already scared wizard. Tears began flowing down his cheeks. I looked at his pitiful condition and wondered that this was the guy who trained me. I felt guilty for speaking loudly to him. "I'm sorry," I said, looking down. "I didn't mean to speak like that. Forgive me."

"I'm sorry too," Brimstail said. "I know you must be feeling what kind of a wizard I am. Scared of things like this when I was originally meant for Combat Magic."

"Its OK, Brimstail," I said, trying my best to comfort him. "Being scared is just a part of life." I gestured him to continue walking. "Come on, we need to reach Varrock Square to know what happened to the soldiers."

As soon as I finished saying that, Brimstail and I heard a large explosion. "What was that!?" Brimstail shrieked yet again, hiding behind me for protection.

It came from the direction of Varrock Square and I immediately knew what was happening. "The vampires!" I gasped.

"The what?" Brimstail said while shivering.

"Lets go!" I ignored his question and ordered him to follow me as fast as he can.

"Wait!" Brimstail yelled as he ran behind me. We ran towards the Square, with me outpacing the little gnome.

The sight was horrible. Varrock Square looked nothing like it did a month ago. The ground was completely destroyed with the rocky pavements torn aside to reveal the natural sandy ground underneath. The fountain was blasted. The statues were tiny pieces of rock and the water was covered with several rock fragments. Zaff's Staff Shop was brought down and the old gypsy's tent was shredded. My jaw was wide open as I saw Melina lying on the ground, unconscious and bleeding from the belly. Wally and Sin were fighting a large bulky pale human whom I instantly recognized as being one of the two Vampires that were scheduled to arrive. Sin's right arm was disabled and Wally's face was covered in bruises.

I heard a familiar voice calling out my name. It was a female voice and I turned to my right to see an injured Rose running towards me. "Ken!" She yelled with tears running down her cheeks. She ran and hugged me passionately. Her dust-laden hands rubbing my back and her tears touching my neck. "You're back!" She cried. "I knew you would return!"

I helped her stand properly and looked at her dusty face. "How long has it been?"

"A day," She said. "A day and a night since the vampires arrived." She then pointed toward Melina. "She fought valiantly."

The large Vampire, Wally and Sin saw me and the Vampire grinned as if he recognised me. I ignored the stares and carried Rose in my arms and Melina on my back toward the Blue Moon Inn for shelter. "Stay here, don't come out." I told her. Then I ran toward the brute who had did this.

"Glad to see you're back," Wally said, his voice sounding as injured as his condition.

"What took you so long?" Sin asked.

"Sorry guys," I said, making eye contact with the large vampire and giving him a glare of rage. "So, is this Naw?" I asked.

"Yeah," Sin replied, panting heavily. "None of my magic could stop him. Not even Wally's."

I ignored Sin's comments and kept looking at the Vampire, who began getting impatient. I shifted my glare to the Varrock Castle and I saw King Roald and another pale man - probably the second vampire - sitting on big chairs on the castle's gallery. Was the king with them!?

"King Roald doesn't have a choice," Wally said, answering my question as if he read my thoughts. "Ranis has forced him to sit and watch as his town perishes."

"I won't let that happen," I said, clenching my fists.

"I'd like to see you try!" Naw finally spoke. His voice was deep, really deep. "I can't lose to a rejected warrior."

"What do you mean?" I asked, raising my voice.

"Ha!" Naw laughed. "Didn't your brother explain anything to you? Lord Drakath rejected you from the Vampire Army because you were too weak."

That was the same information Roy had provided me! My so-called 'brother'! I was shocked with disbelief. "You are wrong!" I said. "My parents were in the Varrock Army, I have no siblings! I am not a Vampire!" I yelled as I rushed toward Naw and punched his belly.

"What the hell!?" Naw said, holding his hurt belly. "Why you little!" He grabbed hold of my arms and threw me toward Zaff's Staff Shop's ruins. I was hurt badly but my motivation overcame me and I got up and again ran towards Naw. This time I head butted his belly and then went underneath him to kick his groin. "Argh!" Naw gasped in pain. Wally and Sin looked at the battle in astonishment as I had turned the tide of the battle in our favour.

"Aer Claustrum!" Wally yelled and cast a huge Air Bolt toward Naw, causing him to fall back several metres.

"Estus Claustrum!" Sin yelled as he cast his Fire Bolt which caught Naw off guard and caused him to receive several burn marks. Sin reached for his pocket and exclaimed, "I'm out of runes!"

"Here, have these!" Brimstail yelled, as he threw his rune pouch to Sin. Sin cast more Fire Bolts at Naw.

None of these hit him as Naw ran toward Sin while dodging all of the spells and finally tackled him so hard that he flew back and crashed hard on the general store's walls, breaking them. Wally began running away, however, Naw spotted him and also tackled him hard. Wally fell several metres ahead and lay on the ground. I screamed and cast a spell of my own. Brimstail never taught me how to cast a fire spell, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Naw screamed to show his might as I felt the heat around me. The night was cold and it was hard trying to feel any heat. Then, I felt for my body heat. The heat which fuelled me since the start of this battle. Naw started running toward me. I closed my eyes and felt the heat. Then, "Estus Ledo!" I cast a successful Fire Strike as my magical energy flowed through my veins and toward the spell. The spell had little effect on Naw, blinding him temporarily while giving me enough time to grab the Saradomin Staff from Brimstail and lunging the tip of the staff onto Naw's belly.

The Saradomin Staff had a four point star as the tip and the points of the star were sharp enough to cause his belly to bleed. Naw gasped in pain. I concentrated on pressing it deeper in his body. Naw grabbed the Saradomin Staff and since his physical power was much greater than mine, he took out the Staff from his belly and threw it aside. His face was enraged as the tendons on his face began to clearly appear. He brushed aside his hair and whispered out a Spell Code. It wasn't of a familiar spell so I didn't recognise it.

"Oh no!" Brimstail yelled as if he heard what Naw was casting. "Stop him before he completes it!"

I wasn't aware of the spell Naw was casting but did as Brimstail told me. I ran towards Naw and punched his muscular belly as hard as I could. But this time, it didn't affect him as much and the next thing I felt was a stinging pain in my arm and some unknown force struck my belly and it felt as if someone had punched me in the belly, someone with a very large fist. I was hurled back several feet.

"Merces Rursus!" Naw yelled...

Chapter Twenty

"Merces Rursus!" Naw yelled as his body had a reddish glow around it. He grinned and silently stood his ground. Why isn't he moving? It was as if he was waiting for me to make my move. Well if that was what he wanted, then that was what he would get! I felt the sudden chilly air around me. It was cold. After I felt the breeze flow through my hair I cast the Spell Code for Air Bolt.

"Don't do it, Ken!" Brimstail warned me. However, I ignored his warning.

"Aer Claustrum," I whispered as the magical energy rushed through my body and was concentrated around my hands, forming a sharp and powerful whitish air ball. After a moment, I hurled it toward Naw, making sure that it was as powerful as possible. Naw's grin only widened as he didn't even move away. He waited for the blast and closed his eyes. The Air Bolt successfully struck him and a smile was on my face, "The fool," I said.

As the air cleared away, I saw that Naw was still standing there!? He laughed out loud. Moments later, a larger Air Bolt was formed out of nowhere and headed toward me. I was bewildered and shocked. As the Air Bolt neared I narrowly managed to jump out of the way. The spell had cut the back of my shirt and caused a small cut on my back. I fell on the ground as Naw was laughing. "You fool!" He mocked me. "Were you not aware of what spell I cast?"

"Besides that Air Bolt, you cast nothing else," I said, as I slowly got up, dusting off the dust.

Naw laughed even harder at my ignorance and Brimstail looked worried and embarrassed. "That wasn't my Air Bolt! It was yours!"

"What!?" I gasped. "I didn't cast an Air Bolt that powerful!"

"The spell which I had cast before is called Vengeance," Naw said, his laugh silencing. "Whenever a person strikes me with either combat types, the attack is reflected back to the opponent. However, the attack is more enhanced." He began laughing again.

Now what should I do? I turned back and saw King Roald, who wasn't looking too happy, and another Vampire, probably Ranis, the prince of Morytania. I turned to my left and saw my Saradomin Staff. That's it! Naw saw me look at the Saradomin Staff and ran toward it. I also ran toward it but the big brute managed to reach it before I could.

"So," Naw said. "Roy didn't manage to hide our Saradomin Staff." I looked worryingly at him. He had a very powerful weapon in his hand. While he was busy observing it, I slid underneath him and once again kicked his groin. He was hurt, but my foot was hurt as well. I felt stinging pain in my foot as I had forgotten that Naw had cast Vengeance. But then, I realised that my attack did hurt him. Maybe he can also feel damage but not as much as before.

Naw turned around and punched me right across the face. I fell back and crashed on a nearby house, cracking the walls. I got up and held my hurt back. Brimstail quietly crept behind Naw and grabbed hold of the Saradomin Staff. However, the vampire didn't let go of it as well and the dwarf and the giant were in a massive tug of war. I went over to help Brimstail, and it seemed that we were almost about to win.

A large explosion broke our little game and Brimstail and I fell back on the rocky remains of Varrock Square. "Hey!" I heard King Roald yell. "You said you won't interfere!" I was able to see Roald arguing with Ranis.

"Shut up," Ranis said. "They were wasting there time, anyway."

King Roald looked angrily at Ranis. Naw wasn't hurt at all from the blast. The Saradomin Staff wasn't in his hands, it was a few feet away from me. I quickly rushed toward it and pointed it at Naw defensively. "Stand back!" I yelled. "Trust me, I can cast deadly spells with this!"

"I doubt it!" Naw laughed as he didn't stop coming closer.

"What are you thinking, Ken!?" I heard Brimstail yell at me. "Don't attack him! It will just do minimum damage to him and will be reflected back toward you with greater strength!"

I ignored my master's statements and realised something had to be done. Minimum damage, eh? It was better than no damage! I had to cast an extremely powerful spell that would do a great deal of damage to him. The spell would damage him and then be reflected back toward me. I'll have to be quick to my feet and will have to dodge it!

I focused all of my magical energy on the Saradomin Staff. I even contributed my physical energy by holding onto the Staff with a tight grip. "Prepare to die!" Naw yelled as he closed his eyes and got ready to cast his own spell. I closed my eyes as well and felt my heart beat. I felt my pulse and how the blood flowed in my veins. Suddenly, I heard a large explosion. I opened my eyes and saw Brimstail lying at my feet. His clothes were torn and his body was heavily wounded.

"Brimstail!?" I yelled. I checked his pulse and then his nose to see if he was breathing. I thought Naw was going to cast a spell on me! But in fact he did it on Brimstail! To my horror... Brimstail... was dead. My tears soaked the gnome's white beard. I had a flashback in which Brimstail was teaching me the spells. "Thank you, my master," I whispered as I wiped my tears.

"I'm so sorry!" Naw mocked me. He began laughing intensively. I looked at him furiously. He had crossed his limitation! A red force surrounded my body as my rage increased. I looked at my Saradomin Staff. It had a white body with golden trims and had a golden four point star at its tip. Suddenly, the Saradomin Staff disappeared from my hands and was replaced with another Staff. This staff also had a white body with golden trims. However, instead of a golden star at its tip, it had red horns. I was shivering as I realised I was holding the Zamorak Staff!

Naw gasped as he saw the change. It didn't really matter to me. I didn't care which staff I had, as long as I had the power to defeat Naw! The red force surrounding me was absorbed by the Zamorak Staff and I automatically whispered, "Flamma e Zamorak!" I wasn't in control of my body. It felt as if some otherworldly being had possessed me and was controlling me. I decided not to fight it.

A large fiery ball was formed from the staff as it was hurled toward Naw. He was shocked to the point that he couldn't move. I screamed loudly as the spell struck Naw hard. I had successfully cast the Flames of Zamorak.

Suddenly, my Zamorak Staff changed back to the Saradomin Staff. Naw screamed in agony as the fires of the chaos god tore and burned his body. Moments later, he fell down on the ground, dead. However, before dying, his Vengeance spell was still in effect as it reflected my Flames of Zamorak. Even though Naw was dead, the spell which I cast to kill him was now heading back toward me, stronger than ever. I got ready to dodge it, but the spell was too fast. I lost grip of the Saradomin Staff and my body met with a sudden burning feeling. My entire body felt like it was thrown in the Cauldron of Hell! The Flames of Zamorak had struck me too!

Chapter Twenty One

I could hear the sound of large explosions. Followed closely by another. And another. Then, menacing laughs. And then screams. Screams of more than one person. I was blacked out but I was able to hear everything. I slowly opened my eyes, my vision vague. Rubbing my eyes, I got up to see that I was in a wooden room. The General Store. The shop owner and his assistant were shivering and hiding behind the counter. Right next to my place of rest was a window, from which I was able to see where the sounds came from.

Naw's body lay on the ground in a pool of blood. King Roald was no where to be found and the second vampire, Prince Ranis, was fighting my friends. Sin was unconscious on the ground, while Wally tried keeping it low in the battle, not wanting the vampire to attack him. Rose was the only one actively fighting against Ranis. Her wounded body not ready for defeat. Blow after blow her body was dealt with, but her determination grew. Ranis looks like he's having a good time.

I looked away from the window and spotted Melina. She was still unconscious and was lying on the ground, her wounds covered in linen cloth. I tried getting up, which proved difficult. Every inch of my body felt burned and weak. I, with all my strength, managed to stand up successfully. However, another large explosion occurred and I fell back on the ground, my body aching with pain. Soon, my body became so weak that I didn't even have energy to open my eyes. My vision became vague once more and I lost breath. My lungs were blocked and I was unable to feel my heart beat. Black out.

* * *

I was seated on my throne and felt excited, having finally conquered Gielinor from Guthix. A dream which I had always thought would never live on. But here I was, seated on the throne of Gielinor. I was the one and only authority of Gielinor! Guthix and Saradomin stood no chance against me!

"My lord!" My commander said. "The elven and dwarven forces were defenceless against our army. Soon, Keldagrim and Isafdar will be under the reign of the almighty Zamorak!"

"Delightful."

"Soon, all shall know the glory of Zamorak!" My advisor stated.

What's going on? Where am I? I feel weird. Am I... me? Or am I...?

Wake up... wake up... you can not die... not just yet... I won't let you die...

* * *

My eyes burst open. I was sweating and panting. My heart was beating and my lungs didn't seem blocked any more. What the hell just happened? I felt powerful. Was I...? No, never mind.

My strength was somehow brought back. My wounds had disappeared and I know longer felt any burning sensation. I got up and ran outside the General Store, the shop owner yelling for me to stop. Ranis was holding Rose by the neck and was saying something to her. Filled with fury, I ran toward Ranis for ever touching my friends that way. My head-on assault proved worthless as Ranis spotted me and threw Rose at me. I caught Rose in my arms and she was looking at me with a blood stained face. Her tears were dyed red by the blood. She touched my cheek with her dusty hand.

"Ken..." She whispered before falling unconscious.

"She was quite a trouble when compared to your pitiful friends over there," Ranis said, pointing to Wally and Sin, who were lying on the ground; half dead. "Don't worry, I didn't kill them." Ranis answered my worrying look. I looked at him with a darkened expression. I carefully placed Rose on the ground and clenched my fists. Ranis laughed out loud. I smiled. "Why that smile? Happy to die?" I didn't answer. "Very well," He ran toward me with his long sword.

I ducked the strike and moved aside. He again ran toward me and this time sweep attacked me. I jumped up, dodging the strike, and then kicked Ranis' head. I was keeping a defensive and steady stance, while Ranis just went head on for the kill. He probably assumed I was too weak. He continuously slashed at me with his sword, but I managed to dodge all of them. I ducked and tripped him. He fell and I quickly sat on top of him with his long sword pointed at him.

"I never realised this would end so quickly," I said. "And here I thought you were stronger than Naw, being the prince and all."

Ranis laughed. "My friend, this battle has only just begun." A wave of black magical energy surrounded him and I began shivering. The black magic formed a large dome around us. It was cold and my breath froze. I looked down and saw Ranis wasn't there. "Now, what were you saying about me being weak?" His voice sounded like it came from outside. I was trapped. "There is no way out!"

I ran toward the dome's black walls and punched it. My hand instantly met with a very cold feeling.

"The walls of the dome are freezing to the touch and they will keep shrinking," Ranis laughed. "And now, I shall leave you to die alone!" I heard Ranis running away. He escaped!

There has to be a way out of this freaking dome! I kicked the dome figuring that my boots would keep me warm. However, I was wrong and the ice cold feeling reached my foot despite my thick, leather boot. I tackled the dome, but again, my body was met with a cold feeling. I started panicking. If I didn't find a way out of this blasted dome, I would perish. After several attempts at breaking the dome walls physically, I grew tired and sat down on the hard ground. Well, this is it. My life's story ends here, I guess. Me, dying in a shrinking dome with ice cold walls. I lied down on the hard ground and closed my eyes. Thinking about all of my past adventures.

Melina, Wally, Sin and... and Rose. They were heavily wounded and were in need of surgical assistance. However, there was no one to help them. And their only hope was trapped like a rat inside a dome. My cold tear flowed down my cheek. I fell asleep.

* * *

I was in a barren wasteland. It wasn't the wilderness. It was something worse. Before me lay the shattered remains of the once great Gielinor. Instead of majestic palaces and heart warming people, my sight only saw large and dark castles with statues of strange people and beasts with the Zamorakian Symbol. There were very few people. And the few people looked sickened, and miserable. They all looked at me with dismay.

I heard a strange voice laughing menacingly. "You...!" The voice called out for me. No one around me said that, it was something else that was speaking to me. "Your life... is my doom!" The voice yelled. "Your death marks the beginning of my life!" The voice laughed as it faded away. Suddenly, everything went black and there was no one around me.

Are you giving up already?

Why shouldn't I?

When I revived you, I hadn't intended that you should die again.

Then what did you revive me for?

For a special purpose. I'll give you the last of my strength. After this I won't be able to revive you any more. Please carry out my mission for me.

What mission?

There was no answer.

* * *

My eyes burst open once more. Despite the extreme cold, my body perspired. I got up and saw the dome walls closing in on me. I had to come up with something before the walls completely enclosed me. That's it! Fire makes ice melt. Checking my pockets for any Rune Stones, I produced a few Fire Runes and a few Mind and Air Runes. I had only the runes left for one last Fire Strike. It wasn't what I had in mind but it would do. Casting a Fire Strike would not only melt the dome walls but would also damage me since it was to damage the entire interior of the dome.

It was hard trying to concentrate on my body heat with the cold condition of the dome. The dome walls were now touching my head and arms and I was very close to my second death. I closed my eyes and screamed. Instead of feeling cold, I felt hot. The Fire Strike which I cast had not only burnt the dome walls but also my entire body. I yelled at both the pain I felt and at the delight that I was soon to get out of my imprisonment.

The dome exploded and I was launched in the air by the explosion. Not caring about anything now that I had escaped the dome, I fell hard on the ground, probably breaking a few bones. But it was worth it. I had escaped my death, having received a second chance, and that was all that mattered. My body was charred.

I got up to see my helpless friends, lying peacefully on the ground. I slowly made my way to Rose. "Need a hand?" I turned toward the General Store's entrance and saw the shop owner and his assistant were still alive. His assistant had Melina in his arms and the shop owner picked up Rose for me.

They placed the two inside the store and went to pick up Wally and Sin. I slowly walked inside the Store and sat on the counter. Ranis had escaped and had left my friends and I completely helpless.

"John, check the cabinets for any medicines and linen," the shop owner said to his assistant, John. John tied the linen around my arms and belly while the shop owner poured a medicinal potion on my friends' wounds.

"Do you know where that vampire headed off to?" I asked the owner.

"Yeah but, you are in absolutely no condition to fight him," he replied.

"Just tell me," I said.

"He escaped toward the wilderness," he answered.

I got up from the counter and said, "Take good care of them for me," I looked at Rose's face. "When they wake up, tell them I was gone to get help and will be back."

"You got it," the shop owner reluctantly said.

So, Ranis had escaped toward the Wilderness. He wasn't going to get away from me. I am going to make him pay for the damage he has caused. He will suffer and die by my hands!

This is a common mistake, so I'm going to point it out for you so that there is no trouble.

"Well, you're too late." I said sadly.

The period after "Well, you're too late" should be a comma, since the next part which would be "I sad sadly" would be a fragment, not a whole sentence. So, it should be:

Oh and it's spelled Gielinor, the "i" starts before the "e"

Chapter Twenty Two

I was walking hurriedly across the empty streets of Varrock. The cold wind swept through me. Despite the cold, my mind was completely set on Ranis and my brain had no time feeling the cold. I quickly sped up as I began to run. Soon after, I reached the Wilderness Ditch. Damn! What was I thinking! I didn't even think of a way to cross the ditch!

"What!?" I saw Ranis across the 3 metre ditch. "How are you still alive!?" He looked astonished but didn't seemed afraid.

"None of your petty tricks can stop me!" I tried seeming as brave as I could. I had to find a way to cross the bridge! Ranis slowly walked away, thinking that there was no way I could reach him. I looked back and saw a small watchtower. Thinking quickly I went over to the tower and started violently kicking at its wooden legs. I punched it so hard that my knuckles bled and my feet swelled. Tackle after tackle, the tower gradually gave in and crashed downward. It bridged me across the ditch and I was on the other end of the ditch in no time.

Ranis began running after he heard the tower crash and I chased after him.

"Come back here you scum!" I yelled, running as fast as possible and ignoring the frequent foot cramps.

Ranis ran and led me to a dark area within the Wilderness. He suddenly stopped and tackled me while I was trying to slow myself down. I fell to the ground but got up and gave him an uppercut. Ranis then kneed my belly and punched my back. I fell down again but then quickly got up to push him away from me. I was extremely mad at Ranis, but he remained calm.

I jumped on top of him and punched his face. He kicked me away from him and then wielded his short sword. A mere sword wasn't going to stop me and I quickly slid underneath Ranis and kicked his behind. He gasped in pain as I grabbed the sword from him and cut his left arm. He yelled as blood streamed out of his arm. His fangs began protruding as his vampiric features were coming into vision. I assumed he was beginning get serious. He quickly got up and caught me in a stranglehold. I was at his mercy now.

His choke tightened every second and my breath reduced. I started spitting blood from my mouth. He then used his other hand to increase his hold on my neck. Thinking quickly, I use my back to drop myself on the ground. Ranis released me from the hold and I used this as an opportunity to hold Ranis in one of my own submissions. I placed my knee on his spine and then pulled his head upward. Ranis roared in extreme agony as he began kicking me from behind in an attempt to save himself. "I won't let you live!" I yelled. "You think you can walk away just like that after all that you have done!?"

"You son of a censored.gif!" Ranis cried as he powerfully pulled himself up and shoved me off of him. He took his time in fixing his neck and then looked at me with blood lust. He roared and then ran toward me only to head butt me on the forehead. Soon after, he laid on me several blows to my chest and belly. He then pushed me to the ground and sat on top of me, having held my arms underneath his knees. He then gripped my neck and pressed it in violently, not letting me breath. I spat out a lot of blood from my mouth and was unable to breath. It seemed as if my world was ending. I closed my eyes and thought I had faded away. However, Ranis' gripped loosened immediately and air rushed in through my nostrils. I felt relieved.

I got up to see that Ranis had landed several feet away from me and was steaming. "Ken!" I heard Wally's voice. I looked back and saw Wally and Rose running toward me. My tears endlessly flowed down my cheek as my friends had saved my life. I got up and hugged Wally. "Its all right, man."

After letting him go I looked at Rose and smiled. She smiled back. "What are you guys doing here?" I asked. "You aren't supposed to be here."

"We just saved your life!" Wally said. "Besides, the shop owner told us you were here."

I was frustrated as I realised Ranis was recovering. This place was too dangerous for them and I didn't want anyone else to get hurt. "This is the last straw!" Ranis screamed as he cast a huge fiery spell and launched it at me.

"No!" Rose screamed as she covered the spell using her body.

"ROSE!!" I yelled out loud. Rose was completely burned. As she was about to fall on the ground I quickly held her in my arms. "What were you thinking!?"

"Ken..." She cried as he touched my cheeks with her burnt hand.

"Why? Why did you risk your life to save mine!?" I yelled at her. "I have no one left behind! What was the point of such useless sacrifice?" Wally began crying too and Ranis only laughed.

"Ken... I..." Rose cried helplessly. "I... love... you..." With that said she shut her eyes and was put to rest.

"Rose?" I said, in disbelief. I shook her body, but it did not respond. "Rose!? No! Rose..." I hugged her burnt and dead body as my tears flowed down her shoulder.

"Aw, now isn't that sad," Ranis said mockingly. "Lover boy lost his beloved."

I looked at Ranis with anger. My veins rushed with new found energy in it. I lay the peaceful body of Rose softly on the ground and told Wally to safeguard it. As I got up I felt something strange inside of me which seemed as if it was trying to call me.

Kill him! Kill him now!

My entire body felt extremely powerful as flames began surrounding me. My tendons grew larger and I screamed. Gradually my screaming turned into roaring as my ears became pointy. My skin turned pale and fangs protruded from my mouth. In the end, I gave one powerful growl! What had I become?

Ranis looked at me with fear. His body trembling. I looked at him and my primitive instincts knew that he was the one whom I had to slay. "What are you!?" He yelled as he ran away as fast as he could.

I ran after him, surprisingly finding my speed to have increased drastically. I chased him around the wilderness until he finally gave a stop. He looked at me in the eye and, if I were human, I would've felt sorry for him. But my new form, somehow, had more power than I and had completely taken over my body. My growls were halfway between the beast and me.

I scratched his face once and twice. His face reminded me of Rose's sufferings. At the thought I quickly bit Ranis's neck and he gave a loud scream. Suddenly, all was over as Ranis's dead body fell on the ground.

I didn't feel weird any more. My body felt like my human self. I looked around and saw Ranis's dead body in front of me.

You are growing! Soon it shall happen!

Chapter Twenty Three

I felt relieved as my body slowly transformed back into my normal size. My muscles were relaxed and my blood began flowing at a normal pace again. I was shivering and felt exhausted from the recent event that had made me realise something. I looked at the palms of my hands and saw what seemed to be normal human hands. The intense feeling of guilt and sudden realisation of truth wasn't a very pleasant one. I felt the tips of my canines to check if they were fang-like. However, they felt like any other human canines feel.

My shirt was completely torn however, my bottom managed to stay put. It seemed my transformation resulted in me becoming a large vampiric brute. I still felt unsure if that monster was still me. As a human I was able to feel myself completely and had full control over my thoughts and feelings. But while I was in that dreaded transformation, not only did my power feel alien, but also my mind. It felt as if my original thoughts were thrown aside and someone else had taken control over me. I didn't feel like myself. Nor did I know who the being was who spoke to me telepathically. It seemed all too strange. I used to think that it was I who was speaking to myself. However, now I realised that the telepathic voices in my head never did sound like me nor did they share my opinion. It was like a whole new being was living inside my mind and was trying to seek control over my body. Well, if that was the case, then the creature was certainly winning.

"Ken!" I heard the faint voice of Wally calling out my name. "Ken!" He repeated.

I slowly got up from my sitting position on the rough ground, not wanting to rush my body after the unthinkable experience. Upon firmly standing up my body felt very weak and my legs almost weren't able to support my weight. I was uncertain whether I was able to stand up any longer without support.

"Ken!" Wally called out, his voice sounding louder this time. "Ken! There you are!" He exclaimed as he rushed toward to help me stand up. "Ken, I have good news!"

"What is it?" I asked, holding on to Wally's shoulders to stop myself from falling.

"It's Rose! She's alive!" He exclaimed happily, looking into my face with a smile.

"What?" I said in astonishment.

"She's alive!" He shook my body happily and then hugged me. "But we need to get her some medical assistance as soon as possible. She's not doing well."

"Hold on," I said, as I slowly let go of Wally's shoulders and tried walking on my own. Successful, I exclaimed, "Let's go."

We walked slowly, mostly because of me. Wally was forced to slow down every few seconds and he frequently picked up his pace. "Almost there," He said.

After another few minutes of walking we reached the scorched battle field where Ranis had burnt Rose. "Rose!" I cried, rushing over to her despite my physical uneasiness.

"Ken..." She whispered through her burnt lips, holding my hand.

"It's going to be all right," I assured her, my tears making their way out of my eyes yet again. "We'll get you to safety."

Wally bent over and carefully picked her up, making sure not to hurt her burnt areas. He carried her in his arms and asked, "Are you able to walk faster now?"

"I guess," I said. "Just don't worry about me. If you see that I am far behind, don't stop there, just keep moving, all right?"

"OK," Wally said, beginning his walk. I tagged along behind slowly.

"Where are we headed?" I asked.

"Since Varrock has been completely abandoned, I guess the closest place from here is Canifis," Wally said.

"Where's that?" I asked.

"It's to the west of Varrock across the River Salve in Morytania," Wally answered.

"Right..." I said, not knowing exactly what he said.

"Hopefully Dr. Fenkenstrain will be able to help," He said.

"Who's he?"

"Some freaky scientist who excels in biological experiments," Wally answered. He knew quite a lot about Gielinor. It was good to have him around.

As we were walking I couldn't help but notice a few tracks on the ground. The prints were quite large and seemed strange. According to my knowledge, I hadn't seen any creature on Gielinor with those kind of foot prints. The tracks had three pointy toes sticking out in three different directions. Suddenly, I heard the sound of someone running. I looked back but saw nothing. I got the sudden feeling of insecurity and was about to tell Wally that someone might be following us. However, before I could say it, our pursuer had already revealed themselves.

"Now is not the time!" Wally exclaimed, standing back to back with me. We were surrounded by the demons!

"What do we do now?" I asked, my fists clenched and ready for action, however, my body begged to differ. "I don't think I'll be able to fight them."

"Don't worry, I'll try holding them off," Wally said, handing me a sleeping Rose in my arms. "I'll distract them with the few runes I have, while you make your escape, all right?"

"But what about you?" I asked.

"Don't worry, I think I have enough runes to kill all of them!" Wally said. His voice sounded confident and his reassuring smile made me believe that Wally was fully capable of handling all of them.

"Good luck, pal," I said, smiled, and walked away as fast as my weak legs could carry me. However, as I 'ran' one of the demons blocked my path and then another one stood behind me. But then, Wally shot both of them with his Fire Strike. I looked at him and he gestured me a direction which was demon-free. I quickly walked toward that direction.

Upon leaving the demon infested area I heard several explosions from Wally's spells. But I also heard screams. Guilt overcame me yet again for having left a friend in dire situations such as these. Wally wasn't able to handle them all alone. But what was I to do with Rose in my arms and my body unable to battle? But some things mattered more to me and so I fled as quickly as possible to Canifis. After several minutes I finally reached the 'bridge' which I had created by dropping the watchtower across the ditch. I carefully walked across and then headed eastward toward Morytania.

As I was walking I heard someone calling out my name. It sounded like a female's voice and was quite far from where I was standing. I reckoned it was Melina. "Melina!" I called out her name as well.

"Ken! Where were you?" Melina found me. She was with Sin. "How can you leave without telling?" As she came closer she saw Rose's condition. "What happened to her!?"

"Its a long story," I said. "Listen guys. Wally is in the Wilderness fighting an army of those demons that attacked Varrock. You've got to help him!"

"All right," Melina said, nodding her head. "But what about you?"

"I'm going to Canifis to get some help for Rose," I explained. "Just hurry up toward Wally, OK?" I wanted to make sure that they leave to help him immediately because every second that passed my guilt increased.

"Come on, Sin!" Melina ordered Sin and the two rushed in the Wilderness.

Don't worry Rose, you're going to be all right. I stared at her helpless face and then carried on walking. My body felt a bit better than before and it enabled me to walk faster than my normal pace. I passed by the broken Lumber Yard, its sorry condition reminding me of the sufferings of the people of Varrock. I forced myself to restrain from the sight and walked faster.

I reached a small wooden gate. It was small enough for me to jump over it, however, I hadn't the energy. I carefully lay Rose on the ground on the other side of the gate and then slowly made my way on top of the gate and successfully reached the other side. I picked up Rose who apparently woke up. "Huh? What's going on?... Where are we?" She asked, her eyes only slightly open.

"We're going somewhere safe," I whispered to her.

"Anywhere is safe, as long as I'm with you," She whispered, touching my cheek with her burnt and dusty hand. After that, she lay down her hand and slept again, not having any more energy to continue talking. I smiled and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead and continued my way.

I noticed that the sky around me began blackening. The clouds blocked the Sun entirely and it felt like I was in the Wilderness again. But I remembered crossing the ditch. I had never seen Morytania before and Wally hadn't explained to me its climate and inhabitants. I just hoped it was welcoming.

A short while later I reached a large temple with a broken front door. I slowly crept inside, wary of any demons or Zamorakians. The temple was completely ruined on the inside. Chairs and benches were destroyed and it looked like an earthquake had hit the place. I silently walked deeper in the temple until I heard someone. Someone whispering. It sounded like an old man. Over to the corner, was an old man dressed in brown robes, sitting on the floor with his eyes closed and whispering something unheard of.

"Who are you?" The old man asked, noticing my presence despite his closed eyes.

I didn't answer, thinking that maybe the old man was guessing my presence.

He opened his eyes and asked again, "Who are you?" This time more seriously.

"I seek help for a friend," I showed him Rose. "Do you know where I can find some? Probably Canifis?"

"Canifis?" The man asked. He resembled the monks back in Varrock. "You seek help in Canifis?" He closed his eyes.

"Yes, why?" I asked.

"A land infested with the evils of Zamorak is a land where no help can be found," the monk answered. "Give her to me. I have a blessing which might cure her burns."

I reluctantly walked closer to the monk and carefully lay Rose in front of him. I looked at him suspiciously, making sure that he didn't try anything funny. He closed his eyes and then murmured some weird words. It seemed like a Spell Code but didn't match any Spell Code I had memorised. He placed his hands on her forehead and it began glowing white. When he removed his hand he left a mark on it. The mark was that of a four pointed star and, recognising it to be of Saradomin, I trusted him. Slowly, the white aura that had been on Rose's forehead made way downward. The places which it crossed were instantly healed and in a matter of time she was completely rid of all the burn marks. The old man smiled.

"Thank you!" I whispered to him gratefully. His blessing worked amazingly!

"Her burn marks are healed but she is still unconscious and will remain so for quite sometime," the monk said.

"Thank you so much!" I said, keeping my voice low. "May I know who you are?"

"Certainly," he replied. "I am the High Priest of Entrana." I had heard quite a lot about the High Priest of Entrana from my grandparents. My grandmother always used to say that he owned the largest cathedral in Gielinor.

"What are you doing here, then?" I asked, looking at the wrecked condition of the temple.

"I was called here, along with a few other monks, to protect Misthalin from the raids of Morytania," he coughed. "I have blessed the River Salve but as I grow old, the blessing does too. In a matter of days I will depart from this world and the river will be free for the Zamorakians to cross." I lowered my head in grief.

"Is there any way I can re-bless the river for you?" I asked.

"None that I know of," the High Priest said sadly. Suddenly, we heard the sounds of rocks falling. "You must go before they arrive."

"The demons?" I asked, trembling.

"No! Now go!" He whispered. I picked up Rose and headed outside the temple. However, as curious as I was, I couldn't help but stay longer and see who the intruders were. I lay Rose at the back exit of the temple and saw from the ajar door.

A large and strong man with pale skin and a sharp pair of fangs appeared inside the temple, followed closely by a red-haired vampire. The two vampires seemed to have a noble prestige among the vampires as they both wore black cloaks which were embroidered with gold jewels as the trimmings.

"So, are you willing to pay the tax now for the survival of the Paterdomus?" Asked the larger vampire, holding out his hand to the High Priest of Entrana.

"I will never give you anything!" The old man spat at the vampire's feet.

"How dare you!" The red-haired vampire broke out. However, the larger vampire gestured him to stop.

"You know that attitude will get you nowhere, old man," he spoke to the High Priest. "The River Salve is getting weaker as we speak. I'm the only one that can cross it at the moment, along with a few other powerful vampires. But by the time it is completely weak, my entire army shall cross and annihilate Misthalin!"

"You will never succeed!" The High Priest sneered.

"You really think so?" The large vampire chuckled. Then stopped. A stern look on his face. "Get rid of him." He spoke to the red-haired vampire as he left the temple.

"Gladly," the red-haired vampire cracked his knuckles and then unsheathed his sword. It was a large and broad blade forged completely out of black metal. The hilt was beautifully designed as it had various vampiric symbols on it. In the centre of the hilt was the symbol of Zamorak. The red-haired vampire lunged his sword at the High Priest as I moved away from the gruesome sight.

I quickly picked up Rose and ran away from the temple, crossing the bridge and entering a darker world.

Chapter Twenty Four

I walked across the swampy ground as Rose lay peacefully in my arms, unaware of what was going on around her. After walking a few miles I spotted light in the distance. Assuming it was a city, I walked faster toward it, careful not to wake Rose along the way. As I approached the city I was met with a horrible sight. A monk lay dead on the marshy ground, his crimson blood spewed all around. I gasped at the sight and nearly woke up Rose from her slumber. I ignored the sight and continued on my way.

The clouds around me darkened as I neared the city and I began thinking about what the High Priest told me. He warned me not to go into a "Zamorak infested" place. However, I felt like there was no other option. If I had turned back those two Vampires would have smothered me! I could only hope that the inhabitants of Canifis weren't as bad as the High Priest said, even if they were Zamorakians.

Nearly half an hour had passed and the sky was now pitch black. The clouds looked like rain clouds, however, I knew that the Sun never rose in these areas. After a few more minutes of tirelessly walking, I finally reached my destination. The city - I mean town - was dotted with several small lamp posts lit by candles and a few people walked the square. The buildings were constructed using wood - willow I assumed - and were fairly small in size, unlike the ones in Varrock. The people wore dark clothes and had shaggy hair. I tried hiding myself as much as possible in fear that they might hurt me, and that I might seem an odd figure. However, one of the citizens spotted me and asked, "You look like you've had a bad day." A man dressed in sophisticated black clothes appeared before me. "Would you like some help? My house is just there." He pointed to a dark alleyway.

"Uh, I-" I began.

"Follow me," The man said, not letting me finish my decision. Unable to resist a request from a supposedly rich man, I followed. He led me inside a dark alleyway and then turned left to a large wooden mansion. It still wasn't larger than the houses back in Varrock, but in comparison to the other houses, it was pretty large. "Come in." He said, unlocking the padlock to his large wooden door with iron frames.

"This is a wonderful place you got here," I commented, looking at the lavishly decorated halls and a centre staircase leading upstairs.

"Please, make yourself comfortable," the man said. "Let me direct you to your room. Will you be sleeping with your wife?"

I coughed. "She's not my wife," I began blushing.

The man chuckled. "I see. But you seem to have a liking for her."

"I do not!" I said.

"No need to worry," he winked at me. "I'll leave you two in one room." He climbed the stairs and showed me to our room. It was heavenly! A large wooden room with a canopy bed, a large bookshelf with all sorts of books, a large three seat sofa and a display of Runite Scimitars, Longswords, Battle Axes, and Broad Swords on the walls.

"This is beautiful," I whispered.

"I hope you enjoy your stay," the man said as he closed the door and left. I was unable to think that the High Priest would stop me from going to a place such as this! That man gave me a perfect example of Canifis and I admired it. I lay Rose on the large canopy bed and neatly tucked her in. I placed her in the centre of the bed. As shy as I was admitting my love for her, I felt too disgraceful to sleep with her without her knowing. So I slept on the sofa.

"Good night," I whispered to her.

* * *

I woke up a few hours later and looked outside the window into the 'morning' light. To my surprise, the Sun had not risen and the sky looked exactly like it did last night. I sat beside Rose and touched her face. She woke up. As her eyes opened she quickly sat up and exclaimed, "Where am I?"

"Its OK," I said. "We're safe."

"Where are we?" She asked me, awed at the room she slept in.

"We're in Canifis," I told her. She then looked at the bed she slept in and then at me.

"Did you sleep-?" She began.

"No no. Not at all," I interrupted her, knowing her question. "I slept on the sofa."

"They're in there?" We heard a large voice coming from outside our room.

"Who's that?" Rose asked, alert.

"I don't know," I answered, feeling insecure too.

Suddenly, a large vampire with red-hair appeared inside the room. I recognised the brute to be the one who killed the priest back in the Temple. "Ken, who's this?" Rose asked, clutching the blanket.

"You're coming with us," the red-haired vampire said, snapping his finger. Suddenly, two other vampires appeared and tied Rose. I tried my best to shove them aside, however, they outnumbered and outmatched me and I was pushed aside. After tying Rose, they tied me with a thick rope.

"Let us go!" I yelled.

"I'm afraid I can't do that," the red-haired brute said. "Your kind isn't welcome here. Take them away to my palace."

The two vampires did as they were told and carried us away.

* * *

We were thrown inside a large cellar with no light at all. Rose was terrified while I tried to keep my cool. "There has to be a way to get out," I said.

"What were you thinking in the first place going to Canifis?" Rose asked, terrified beyond her limits. I felt sorry for her. She was in this because of me.

"I'll get us out of here," I assured her. Getting up I checked if the cellar had any opening or weak or hollow wall. However, I stopped checking as soon as I heard someone coming in. It was a vampire holding keys, most probably the ones to our cellar. He sat on a chair next to our cellar. I got an idea. "Excuse me, can you come over, my foot is stuck in between the bars," I told the vampire guard.

He got up and walked and bent down to my foot. He freed it and then got up to leave. But as he turned around I got him in a strangle hold through the bars and he choked to death. I took the keys from his pocket and unlocked our cellar.

"Stay here," I told Rose. "I'll go see if the coast is clear." She obeyed me and stayed while I slowly crept outside the room. There were two doors I had to choose from. One probably led to another room while the other probably led to the corridor. I opened one of the doors and saw a large wooden rostrum with a journal placed on top. I quietly crept to the book and saw the title, "Chronicles of Iban". Curious as I was, I opened it...

Chapter Twenty Five

I opened the Chronicles of Iban and the first page was:

1st Gregoran 149FA (Fifth Age):

Governing Morytania under the leadership of my father, Zamorak, had never been easier. Taxes were paid, the different varieties of people obeyed my law, and most importantly, my son was engaged! Being a Godly Prince he had offers by several women, however, for some apparent reason, he rejected them all. Until finally one fortunate lady, Josephina, found a place in Zane's heart. I was most pleased upon the revelation and ordered a banquet to be held in which all the citizens of Sanguinesti were invited! My son was also happy with his decision.

I turned the page:

3rd Gregoran 149FA:

My son, for the first time, introduced me to his beloved. She was a Vampire from Canifis. Upon knowing that she was a peasant I was displeased at my son's choice. However, he was my son so I did not stop him from his love. And so the feast was to begin later that evening! It was wonderful and a large audience attended it. Before the eating began Zane announced his wife to the entire Morytania and stated that he was going reduce the taxes by half. Although he didn't ask my permission before doing so, I instantly allowed him to make that decision for the joy of his wedding which was to take place later on! The banquet ended quite accordingly and everyone had fun!

The entry for that day was ended and so the next page had the next entry:

20th Gregoran 150FA:

Preparations for the wedding began and it will be held later on tonight...

... I have returned from the wedding and I must write that it went perfectly! Not only is my son now officially married but also I made an announcement that Zane was to be my heir to the Morytanian throne. Drakan felt that he should've deserved the role, but I told him that my son was more important. He appears to be a bit suspicious. I think I should keep an eye on him.

Next page:

9th Satopa 150FA:

The time is here! Zane has a son! The moment that I was waiting for had finally arrived! Now the family was completely complete. Zane and Josephina thought about the child's name and considered naming him Roy. However, I felt that the name Zack would've been more suitable... But they didn't listen! I was now the proud grandfather of Roy!

I was dumbfounded by what I had read. However, I decided to read on to clarify things:

1st Gregoran 151FA:

Recent rebellions had broken out throughout the Sanguinesti. Drakan played a large part in trying to repel the rebellions and I appreciated the help from my most trusted general. My own son, Zane, hadn't helped me at all. I was beginning to reconsider by decision and secretly wrote in my Will for Drakan to be heir of Morytania after me. I was ashamed at the decision but I felt that I made the right choice.

Nothing important was found however, I felt as if I was closing in on something good:

4th Octaver 151FA:

Unbelievably, Zane has had yet another son! I find this one to be cuter than Roy. Zane and Josephina took long into thinking of a name and ended up with the name, Zarkenon. I found that name to have no appeal and it was way too big for a little child like my new grandson. So, I took order and forced the changing of the name. Finally, the name was changed to Ken! My personal choice!

My heart was beating extremely fast. What if Roy had told the truth about me?:

4th Octaver 155FA:

My power has been stripped away from me. Upon reading my Will, Zane became so enraged that he attacked Drakan. However, somehow, the two formed an alliance and together managed to defeat me and my army. I am currently locked up in a cellar. I don't believe it! Having been betrayed by your own son and trusted general. The two are seemingly working together to rule Morytania and have made a new law stating that any Vampire found weak would be thrown out of the kingdom. Unfortunately, my beloved grandson, Ken, turned out weaker than his dreaded brother and was given to an old couple living in Varrock to be taken care of. I don't know how he'll survive without blood and without the darkness of his kingdom.

I didn't know too how did I survive without blood and darkness. Sadly, it seemed as though Roy was telling the truth. I shut the journal and stepped aside to think all this up. I was indeed a Vampire... I was the grandson of Iban!

Chapter Twenty Six

It was unbelievable. The fact that I was Iban's grandson was too disturbing for me to accept. How was I able to live on a normal life in Varrock undetected? Suddenly, I had a flashback.

"I'm not the monster!" I yelled. "Honest!"

"No, you're not." King Roald said, he was really beginning to frighten me. "You are a Vampire."

"What!?" I yelled, disbelievingly!

"Attack!" King Roald ordered.

No wonder King Roald kidnapped me. He knew I was a Vampire, and most probably the son of Iban, all that time. But the most puzzling part was: even if I was a Vampire, which I undoubtedly am, then how come I survived eighteen years with no blood and darkness? I stared at the palms of my hands and got another flashback.

My entire body felt extremely powerful as flames began surrounding me. My tendons grew larger and I screamed. Gradually my screaming turned into roaring as my ears became pointy. My skin turned pale and fangs protruded from my mouth. In the end, I gave one powerful growl!

It was all making sense to me now.

"Not easy is it?" I heard a deep voice behind me. Turning around I met face to face with the red-haired Vampire who killed the monk back at the temple.

"Who are you?" I said, backing away from him in fear.

"Do not fear me, Ken," the vampire spread out his arms as if inviting me to embrace him. "Come here." He spoke gently.

"No," I said. I began shedding tears. "You are not-"

"There is no need to cry in such a moment," the vampire whispered, stepping toward me with his spread out arms. "I've missed you for so long." He came close and hugged me. "Come here, my son."

"Dad," I cried, hugging him back, my tears soaking his cape. "I have a question." I asked, slowly ending the hug.

"Anything," my 'father' whispered.

"Can we call for a change?" I asked. "Become more balanced than evil?"

"Are you asking I leave faith in Zamorak?" He asked, his whisper getting louder.

"Well, uh," I wasn't sure how to put it. "Yeah."

"Absolutely not," he calmly disagreed, walking away from me. "And I have a question for you."

"Yes, dad?" I asked, wiping my tears.

"Join us," his evil whispers echoed through the room and tickled my ears. "Rejoin your true faith." He lay out his hand in front of me, so as to shake my hand.

"No," I simply whispered.

"I was told, by Drakan," father spoke. "That if you accept the offer, you'll be offered a luxurious house and your own band of soldiers. However, if you were to disagree... he wouldn't let you live."

"I would rather die," I whispered bravely. "Then serve a pitiful excuse of a god such as Zamorak!" My voice was half mine and half that of someone old.

"How dare you speak of my grandfather that way!" My father yelled, tightly holding my wrist and taking me out of the room.

"Let go of me," I yelled, punching his hand. I turned around to face the cellar we were in and saw that Rose wasn't there.

My father dragged me out of the dungeon and led me through the large corridors of his castle. His violent dragging stopped only when we reached a large hall with a red carpet leading to two elegantly constructed thrones. The rest of the room was blank except for the few guards. I observed the room and saw Wally, Melina, Sin, and Rose being held captives by the Vampire Guards right next to the throne.

"Tie him up," My father spoke disgustingly, throwing me aside as if I were a rag doll. I struggled and tried kicking the guards, but their vampire strength exceeded my own and they easily handcuffed me.

"What do you want from us!?" I yelled at my father, losing all the respect which I had for him.

"Speaking like that to your own father is an invitation to death," the vampire spoke rather calmly, staring at his glass goblet of wine. Suddenly, the large doors burst open and in came another vampire. This was one was larger than my father and my dad stood up to him as he entered the room.

"Who are they?" The vampire, whom I recognised to be the one who killed the monk, asked.

"Just some trespassers, my lord," my father said, bowing down. "We'll get rid of them immediately." The larger vampire, Lord Drakan, sat beside my father on his throne and thought for a moment. He stared at us and then had his menacing eyes set on Rose. For a moment I almost thought that he wanted her.

"Who's she?" Drakan asked, pointing to Rose who looked down.

"One of the trespassers," my father said.

"She's beautiful," Drakan smiled at Rose.

"Uh, yes she is?" My dad said.

"Bring her to me," Lord Drakan ordered one of his men. The Vampire Guard pushed Rose toward Lord Drakan. She kept her gaze low. Lord Drakan got up and touched her cheek. She began to shed tears. "My, you would make an excellent bride." I clenched my fists and felt like rampaging at the Lord. "Tomorrow night!" Lord Drakan yelled. "Tomorrow night the wedding begins!" Rose looked at him in shock.

My fists clenched tightly and I gritted my teeth. Despite my desperation, I was unable to move.

"Begin preparations for the bride!" Lord Drakan announced. "I want her to look splendid!"

Rose began crying as the Vampire Guards pushed her out of the room. I was unable to believe at the chain of events that had just happened.

Chapter Twenty Seven

Rose wasn't even trying to struggle. The Vampire Guards had her arms and shoulders tightly held. She looked back at me with a tear dropping from her face. I tried my very best to free myself from the guards' grasp, but they were inhuman. Soon, Rose had left the throne room.

"Forget it," I heard Lord Drakan speak to me. He climbed out of his large throne and stood in front of me. "She's beautiful isn't she?" He let out a menacing smile. I looked at him with dismay. I put my head down and wanted to cry but, somehow, refrained myself from doing so. Lord Drakan lifted my chin and said, "Don't worry. Your punishment will be fast and painless." He chuckled and left the throne room with my father following him as if he were his slave. I looked at my father. He was supposed to be my role model. I was supposed to follow his footsteps. But if the steps will lead me astray then I had no other choice but to keep away. I looked at my father as he left the throne room with hatred.

"Lets go," the Vampire Guard who was holding me said as he forcefully led me out of the throne room too. After me, Wally, Sin, and Melina followed, being forcefully led outside by their own respective Vampire Guards.

* * *

"In you go!" The Vampire Guard threw me inside a small, but quite deep, pit. Followed by Wally, Sin, and Melina. The Vampire Guards put a large, stone lid on the pit. They let the lid be slightly opened to let some air and light in.

"Well, here we are!" Melina said, sarcastically expressing her joy. Sin grunted in response. I observed my friends' conditions. Melina had burn marks, Sin was scratched all over his face and a little on his arms, and Wally was bruised and looked beaten. Only I was the one who was completely healed. Seeing the state in which my friends were in, I felt like an outsider. An intruder, a complete stranger who had led them to this. I hugged my knees and brought them closer to my face, trying to hide my grief-stricken face.

"What's wrong, Ken?" Wally asked. I was unable to reply. He was a great friend. He had fought the demons for me and I had only left him there to fight alone. Even though I wasn't able to fight at that time, I still felt guilty.

I swallowed and then spoke, "Nothing," I said, my voice still cracked.

"We have to find a way to get out of here," Sin said, breaking the silence. He looked up and said, "Those fools have left us an opening. We can still make it out."

"What's the plan?" Wally asked. I didn't feel like talking so I kept quite and obeyed my friends, hoping that their guidance would lead us to victory unlike mine.

"I'll give one of us a boost and that person has to go find a rope for us all to get out," Sin said.

"But we aren't able," Melina said, pointing out her burn marks. "What if the Guards catch us?"

"Then I guess we'll just have to send the most able person here," Sin said, looking toward me. "Ken. I'll give you a boost."

"No," I said, turning my back to him. "I won't do it."

"Why not?" asked Wally.

"It'll be ruined," I said, closing my eyes. "Whatever I do will always end up wrecked. I don't want to make the same mistake again! Like I did with you guys..."

"But Ken," Sin said, his voice sounding soft for the first time. "Think about it. You'll be doing us all a favour. You're the only one who has the strength to run and fight assuming the guards find out."

"We need you to go get a rope for us," Wally said, laying his hand on my shoulder. I thought about it. I was certainly not stronger than any of the Vampire Guards. I was unable to free myself from only one, let alone several of them. But looking at my friends' faces made me think otherwise.

"Fine," I said, standing up. "I'll do it."

"You're the best," Melina said. Sin stood up and gestured me to stand on his shoulders. I carefully climbed on top of Sin, Melina supporting me and Wally holding Sin. I carefully and slowly stood on top of Sin's shoulders.

"Hurry you're hurting me," Sin said, trying not to shout. I slowly opened the lid to an extent that I was able to squeeze through. I held on to the edge of the pit and used all of my muscles to force my body upwards and out. Upon reaching out of the pit I was fortunate to see that there weren't any guards. However, the room was dark except for the moonlight reaching in from one of the windows.

I couldn't find any rope so I took one of the two unlit, three branched, brass candelabrum. "Here," I whispered to my friends below. Melina held on tightly to the branches of the candelabrum and I lifted her up. She was fairly light but still pretty heavy. Wally was lifted up next. My arms felt sore and tired.

"Here, let me help," Wally said.

"No," I said, moving myself away. "I want to make it up to you guys. I can do this." I said as Sin held on to the branches. Slowly, I lifted him up as well. My arms felt a surge of pain go through them. They felt so weak that lifting them was even a burden. I lay down on the ground, panting.

"Thanks, Ken," Sin said, removing dust from his body. Wally helped me stand up.

"Now what?" Wally asked.

"Now," Sin said, thinking. "We need to find Rose. I'd say splitting up to be the best idea but then we have the chance of getting caught faster. So lets stay together and search for her."

Wally observed our prison. "But how do we get out when there is no entrance?"

"Good question," Sin said, feeling stupid. "According to the position of the Moon we still have four hours till sunrise. We'll take turns guarding each other. I'll go first, and after an hour I'll wake you Melina. Then comes Wally and finally Ken. Agreed?"

"Agreed," We all said.

* * *

"Ken, wake up," I heard Wally's voice. "Wake up, Ken."

"What?" I woke up, rubbing my eyes.

"Come on," He whispered. "Its your turn."

"Already?" I asked.

"Don't complain," he said, yawning and quickly went to sleep. I got up and yawned myself. Standing up I stretched and then sat back down, awaiting dawn.

After nearly an hour of waiting the Sun began rising. Our dungeon was brightly lit by the sunlight and I was able to see clearly the room in which we were in. The walls were made of stone and there were two candelabrum in the corner of which one I had used to free my friends. Looking closely, I saw that there was indeed a door. Damn! I felt so stupid. How could we have missed our greatest opportunity of escape? How did we not see the door when it was right there? I quickly woke my friends up.

"I don't believe it," Sin said, scratching his head. "Well, let's leave before we get in trouble." As soon as he finished saying that, a band of Vampire Guards entered the room.

"All right guys, time to-" the guard stopped. "How did you!?" He wondered. We wasted no time and quickly ran to fight. However, the Vampire Guards were physically fit, unlike us, and they had the additional advantage of vampiric strength. They pinned us to the ground and used bendable iron to tie our arms and legs and carried us on our shoulders outside.

A moment later we reached the throne room, which was elegantly decorated. There was a wooden stand in front of the two thrones and standing next to it was a Zamorakian Priest. I saw Lord Drakan dressed in a noble suit standing on one side of the stand with my father right next to him. A large audience had attended the wedding ceremony and they consisted of vampires only. They were seated row-wise on wooden chairs. The Vampire Guards took us to the back of the room, farthest from the Lord, and made us watch the ceremony. Soon, wedding music was being played as the throne room's doors opened and in came Rose. She looked beautiful in her black wedding gown. Lord Drakan smiled as his bride arrived. The sight made me sick and the courage which I had lost had arisen once more.

The Priest opened the Unholy Book and spoke, "May vos duos insisto semita of Zamorak." The words were alien and probably were from the God Wars era. He touched the hands of both the would-be spouses and cast something. Before letting him finish I kicked the Vampire Guard holding me in his crotch from behind and ran toward the disaster of a wedding.

"I will not let this happen!" I yelled as I ran as fast as I could. I almost reached Drakan if it wasn't for my father who intervened and dropped me to the ground. As I lay there I saw Lord Drakan give Rose a long kiss. My heart sank and now only anger surrounded me. I began sweating. I roared and got up, shoving my father aside and then pushing Drakan so hard that the wooden stand he fell on broke. The Priest and the audience looked in horror but Rose came over and hugged me, crying.

"You insolent fool!" Lord Drakan cried. "Get rid of him, Zane!" Drakan yelled. It was probably the loudest yell I had ever heard. My father wasted no time and quickly sprang on top of me. He tightly held my neck.

"You won't live!"

Chapter Twenty Eight

My father wasted no time and quickly sprang on top of me. He tightly held my neck. “You won't live!”

“Get off me!” I yelled at him as I kicked him aside. My father was on the ground, holding his abdomen from the blow I dealt him. As I got up, I saw Drakan do something. He whispered something, most probably a Spell Code, and then a small flash of white light quickly appeared and disappeared from the palm of his left hand. After that I heard a large growl coming from my side.

Turning around I saw my father getting up from the ground, his face more demonic than before. Grey hair began growing around his neck and his face turned completely brown-red. Wally gasped at the sight. “Its him,” he pointed out. “The Son of Chaos!”

My father’s pupils were completely vanished and his eyes were entirely black, which made them look empty. His nails had also grown a great deal and he had a malformed face. Terrifying as he looked, he also sounded scary. “Ken!” He roared. “You shall die first!”

Suddenly, Melina sprang in front of me and said, “No he won’t!” My father responded by a large shriek, even scaring his own people present, and charged towards Melina.

“Move!” I yelled, as I quickly pushed her aside from harm’s way. Then, my father gave out another loud cry and a large ball of green energy gathered around him.

“Terra Undo!” He yelled as a large wave of green energy was hurled towards Melina and me. I quickly grabbed her arm and jumped to the side, the Earth Wave destroyed the wall behind.

“He’s the Son of Chaos!” I heard Wally complain, his astonishing look began to worry me. My father quickly chased after Melina and, amazingly, cast another Earth Wave at her. It was quite small since it was cast in a hurry, but it was a direct hit. Melina fell down to the ground, her clothes burned. I quickly ran up to her and grabbed her out of my father’s way.

What has suddenly gotten into him!? He wasn’t this strong and deranged before!

“There’s no hope left,” Wally gasped, staring at the ground below. “He’ll kill us all!”

“I’m surprised you know that much,” Lord Drakan walked beside Wally and looked at his companion in action. “Zane, he is free now.”

“What do you mean?” Asked Wally, sweating.

“Do you possibly think I would be stronger than the Son of Iban?” Lord Drakan laughed. “Not at all! It was only when I realised that his power would mean my downfall I quickly hired a sage to come up with a spell to suppress most of his energy. Fortunately, the sage was able to make one and taught me how to use it. For all these years, I have been ruling as his senior only because his actual power is locked. He does not need to know. However, I decided that today would be a wonderful day, since it is my wedding, to see the devil at work and so unlocked his true potential. And besides, you and your friends started to annoy me.”

Zane, as I know longer had the decency to call him my father, cast another Earth Wave, which we fortunately missed. Then, he cast one Earth Wave at the Vampire audience who had originally been here to watch the wedding of Drakan. Zane was crazier than ever. Not only did he want to eliminate his own son, but also he wanted to destroy his own people. He let out a loud and menacing laugh. “If you wish not to fight back I understand,” his empty sockets grew more terrifying as he spoke. “But I am going to destroy Morytania no matter what!”

“No you won’t!” I yelled. I stood in front of him and concentrated on his next move. Melina came in and stood beside me, also getting ready for a massive showdown.

“What the-?” Wally gasped. “Are you people completely insane!? He’s unstoppable now!”

“Watch, Wally,” Drakan whispered into his ears. “Blood baths such as these are rare in my country.” He chuckled.

Zane yelled once more and then ran towards us. His power was so immense that the ground beneath him was destroyed by every step he took as he ran. I ducked from one of his punches but then was struck on the back of my neck with his powerful elbow. He kicked Melina, but she evasively dodged that. However, she suffered a massive punch to the chin. He charged at us yet again. I nodded to Melina and soon we both ran as fast as we could. He laughed menacingly as he shot Earth Waves at us while chasing us. Fortunately, all of his Earth Waves missed us but destroyed the audience and the wedding hall itself.

I came to a halt as a hard concrete wall of the Hall was in our way. Turning around, we met with Zane. “You think two against one is any good?” He mocked us. “How can you possibly intend on killing me?” His arrogant voice was half roar.

“Zane,” I spoke. “You surprise me. So, my ‘father’ won the battle. But keep in mind that the war is not over yet!” Zane’s only possible response was a deep and menacing chuckle. He abruptly stopped and then ran toward Melina. His speed was so great that I was not able to help her. She, too, was not able to see him coming and was clothes lined against the hard concrete wall. The attack was powerful enough to cause minor cracks on the wall.

“Son?” He asked. “How much do you love your friend?” Zane walked aside from Melina and she was coughing up blood.

“Melina!” I yelled at her. “Leave, now!”

“But Ken,” She said, spitting out a little bit more blood.

“I said go!” I ordered. She obeyed me and quickly ran toward Wally, hoping to recover a bit. Finally, Zane and I ran toward each other and collided. Our arms were pushing each other from the shoulder. Then, I kneed Zane on the chin. However, my attack was to no avail as he didn’t even feel it! He lifted me up into the air and then threw me to the concrete wall, tearing it apart.

I was on the ground, injured, but I could see that Zane now headed for Melina. She quickly began running in fear but the brute caught up with her and smashed her head against the wall while rubbing it. Then he threw her on the wall and quickly cast an Earth Wave on her, rendering several burn marks and scratches on her face as well as burning most of her body.

“Melina!” I yelled as I managed to get up and run toward her. However, Zane was quick to his feet and struck me with a clothesline. I was smashed hard on the wall next to Melina. I was so frustrated that I double kicked Zane’s abdomen in an attempt to get him away from me as far as possible. Fortunately, he fell back several feet. Moreover, as I went toward Melina to get her away from the torment, Zane cast an Earth Wave with the blink of an eye and I was burned and thrown several feet away from her.

My landing was hard as I fell on the ground back first. I felt a minor surge of power rush through me. I got up and charged at my former father with as much rage as his insanity. He cast an Earth Wave to stop me in my tracks but I resisted the thrust of the move and carried on running toward him. He then cast another, then another, and finally the fourth one. After at least three more Earth Waves, I was no longer able to resist the thrusting force of the spell and fell down on the ground. My body had taken so many shots that it was charred entirely. Amazingly, my anger overcame my weakness and I got up to face torment once more.

“Give up!” Yelled Zane, casting yet another Earth Wave. This one sent me flying back several metres, as my body was weak from all the blasts. Zane began panting and I realised that even he had a limit to all of this. Then I was proved wrong as Zane surrounded himself in a dome of his own Earth Wave. That dome then exploded, causing several minor Earth Waves to be showered all around the Hall. The ceiling, walls, and floors were completely wrecked as the Hall fell apart. Fortunately, none of the waves struck me and I was unable to get up to see if any had struck my friends. “What’s the matter, son?” Zane asked, his empty voice echoing in the ruins of the Hall. “Have you given up?” I did not feel like answering as it would tire me and decided to use every second to replenish my health. “I guess you can say goodbye to your friend.” He whispered the Spell Code and cast a massive Earth Wave, hurling it toward Melina. I saw helplessly as the wave was about to strike her.

However, in the distance I saw a red and fiery ball heading toward us. At first I thought it might have been from another evil and was heading to destroy us. But when the fire ball struck Zane’s Earth Wave I thought otherwise. Melina was saved but I was unable to find her saviour. Suddenly, a pale figure appeared before her. It had pointed ears and a muscular build. Relieved, I knew that it was none other than Sin!

“Looks like pointy wants to play,” Zane taunted, not knowing how pathetic his statement really was.

“Do you always pick on the women?” Sin mocked him. Zane made an angry face, obviously his dignity was insulted by an elf!

Sin walked over in between the distance of Melina and me and whispered, “Vigoratus Humus.” Instantly, I felt re-energised. I was able to easily move my muscles and got up to thank the elf. Melina did the same too and we were very grateful.

“Which spell was that?” Melina asked him.

“Heal Group,” Sin smiled. “From the Lunar Book.”

“I’m glad you’re here,” I commented. “If it wasn’t for you I would’ve been dead!”

“You shouldn’t have done this,” Zane said. “Now you’ll have to suffer even more pain! You are a complete waste of Zamorakian blood!”

“And I am glad!” I yelled as I ran toward him, continuously punching and kicking him. Sin joined me in the attacking and repetitively punched him as well. However, nearly all our blows were either resisted or parried. It was unbelievable. To end it, he simply pushed us aside.

Melina came in next. She gathered the rune stones from her pocket and whispered the Spell Code. After a moment of concentration her spell, Air Blast, was successfully cast on Zane. However, the mighty being didn’t move an inch despite the powerful spell which was cast.

Sin rushed toward Zane in an attempt to knuckle his head. But Zane quickly stopped him and then kicked, using his toes, at Sin’s belly making him fly several feet back. Melina also ran toward Zane with fury. Her attempt of attack failed completely as Zane easily shoved her aside while he ran toward Sin. Zane’s powerful foot met contact with Sin’s body as he kicked it as if it were a ball. To finish it Zane cast an Earth Wave at Sin, who was still in mid-air. Before landing Sin was blasted off further away from Zane by the Earth Wave.

“We’re doomed,” Wally stared with disbelief at the rest of us. “He is pure evil. Son of chaos!”

Sin landed right next to Wally and was frustrated by his complains. He got up and grabbed him by the collar. “What do you think you’re doing?” He asked, speaking rather loudly. “Stop whining and fight!”

“As soon as he transformed into this state, he resembled the hideous Zamorak!” Wally stated, shedding some tears. “How can we defeat something that is unbeatable!?” Angered by his companion’s cowardice, Sin left Wally on the ground and went on to fight my father.

Zane cast an Earth Wave at me, but I dodged the spell. However, not realising that Melina was behind me, the Earth Wave had struck her! I looked back to see if she was OK, but when I turned around again, Zane knocked me down with an almighty punch to my chest. I was thrown back against one of the remaining concrete walls. I got up and cleaned the blood from my lips.

Summoning all of my strength I tried getting up. It felt as if all the blood had been drained away from my body and I was lifeless. My weak arms could only barely lift me up from the ground. My calves had not the strength to support my weight when I stood up, and I was unaware as to how long I would remain standing. Through my blurred vision I could see that Zane was casting yet another spell. Indeed another Earth Wave. I spread out my legs and stood firmly on the ground, using both my arms to guard against the upcoming spell. Then, Zane cast the Earth Wave at me and, fortunately, I remained standing. I was bare down to my waist and my chest was burned badly. I did not realise how I got the strength to remain standing even after the Earth Wave. Zane frowned, but then cast several other Earth Waves. After every Earth Wave my legs grew weaker. After a few more, they felt dead and I was unable to hold on to the blasts. Just as I thought I was going to fall flat and die, Zane suddenly stopped the river of Waves at me. As the smoke cleared away I could see his faint figure approaching me. Using the little energy I had within me I backed away from the approaching terror.

As my father neared me, I felt my pocket for any rune stones. Unfortunately, I had none left. However, the fear of dying was unbearable and immediately magical energy was surging through me. The powerful energy was channelled at my wrists and hands and when Zane was only a step in front of me, I quickly cast the spell. I did not say any Spell Code and I hadn’t any rune stones. The spell I cast was blue and felt a bit wet. A large explosion occurred just in front of me and as the smoke cleared away, I was horrified to see that my father was still standing. He chuckled and lifted me by my hair.

“What was that supposed to be, son?” He taunted me. He let go of my hair and as I was falling, Zane punched my guts hard.

“Ken!” I heard Wally scream out my name. Wally ran toward Zane with pure hatred and fear. He first punched him, which was quickly dodged by the son of chaos, and then he jumped up and kicked his face. The blow was severe, and Zane probably did feel pain, but he did not stir. Wally did not stop there. He quickly lay a massive punch on Zane’s teeth. A few fell out, but the monster did not show a hint of pain. Wally gasped as he had known this would’ve happened. Wasting no more time, he quickly whispered, “Incendia Flatus!” A large ball of fire was shot at Zane, singeing his hair slightly. Zane was not hurt badly and he began moving closer to Wally. Wally backed away and quickly cast another Fire Blast, which left only Zane’s chest slightly scorched. As Zane approached him, Melina quickly came in their way and cast a Fire Blast herself, which was obviously to no avail. To avoid further damage, Zane uppercut Melina on the chin and then tackled Wally on to the nearby concrete wall.

He pressed Wally’s face harder against the wall until Wally lost breath and fell unconscious. I scanned the room for Rose. She was standing fearfully next to Drakan, holding onto him as if to find safety. A great deal of envy arose inside me and I could see nothing except for me killing Drakan. I just hoped that Rose did not really loved him.

“Come my bride,” Drakan whispered to Rose, touching her cheek. “We must escape from this horrible place.” He carried her in his arms, which made me even more envious, and headed for the exit silently.

“Where do you think you’re going, Drakan?” Zane spoke menacingly, standing behind Drakan and Rose.

“I was just a-” Drakan gasped, his words unable to come out. “I just was taking Rose away from danger.”

“You know, Drakan,” Zane said, looking at his hands. “I don’t know what you did to me but I like this new state. And I think I’m going to stay this way! As for you,” He came closer. “You will die!” Zane punched Drakan, but the vampire quickly ducked. However, Zane quickly lifted Drakan and Rose by the necks and pressed it tightly. I wanted to scream but I could only barely manage a faint whisper. Drakan was getting what he deserved but Rose was not supposed to suffer. Her innocent face was crying in pain as she spat out some blood.

Get up! Get up, Ken! I ordered myself. But my ‘dead’ arms were unable to lift me up. Rose’s screams echoed in my mind. A drop of tear slowly made its way below my cheek and onto the ground. “I’m sorry, Rose,” I whispered, closing my eyes and taking deep breaths. Suddenly, I felt the same type of magical energy, which I had used against Zane to cast the water spell. The energy was again channelling toward both of my hands. Instead of using it to cast another spell, I let the energy gather itself. Slowly it filled my hands and then I felt it in my feet. I used the energy to give new-found strength to my arms and legs. In a matter of seconds, I was able to stand up completely, however, I still felt a little dizzy.

I looked at Zane and then slowly walked toward him. He let go of Rose and then threw Drakan out into the distance. Turning around, he said, “Still want to play?”

I shut my eyes and ignored him. I cupped my hands together and raised them to the sky. Guthix! Give me the power to overcome my fear! I need not any advantage over my opponent! I merely ask that you strengthen my heart and only lend me the bravery! After having finished my prayers I ran toward Zane who also began charging at me. We both simultaneously punched each other’s knuckles, but the force from Zane’s punch was much greater than mine and I backed away to recover.

Zane began running toward me at a very fast pace. I quickly turned around and began running myself. He cast a small Earth Wave, which struck my back and I toppled hard on the ground. Guthix! I managed to get up and walked toward Zane. However, the mad monster struck my Adam’s apple using the side of his palm. I fell on the ground gasping for air. The brute then jumped up very high and then abruptly landed his knee on me. The ground beneath us cracked. I felt physically dead. His massive weight had landed on my body at a great speed.

Guthix will never help the likes of us! I heard a demonic voice inside my head, speaking to me.

Who are you? I questioned.

I am you! The demonic voice retorted. I am your true self! With that said the demonic voice faded away and I was left bewildered at what just happened. I got up to face Zane once more. Before I could do anything, my father ran toward me and cast an Earth Wave again. It was a destructive force and I was thrown back hard against a rocky wall, cracking it.

“Its no use, Ken,” Wally spoke faintly while lying down on the ground. I showed no signs of weakness to my opponent and got up. Amazingly I was able to stand up, assuming that Guthix had provided me with some power. I thanked my god and stood in front of Zane to face him again.

“You are beginning to annoy me,” Zane articulated. The mad beast rampaged at me, tackling me onto the rocky wall again. I was stuck helplessly to the wall. Zane stood back and cast another Earth Wave at me.

“Stop, Ken!” Wally barely yelled. Zane, his Earth Wave interrupted, ran toward me and then pulled my arms on either side. I screamed loudly in agony.

Guthix! I need your help! There is no other way I can win this! I begged my god.

I told you it won’t help us! The demonic voice spoke again. We are not favourable in Guthix’s eyes. We are evil!

You are wrong! I yelled at the voice. Suddenly, Zane began a furious episode of punches and kicks at me. The feeling of pain arose yet again and I screamed. He held me by the neck and threw me on the floor. Then, he punched me so hard that the floor beneath me was demolished. I was nearly breathless.

“You lasted longer than I had expected,” Zane verbalised. “But your time has finally arrived!”

Guthix! All praise be to Guthix! The God of Balance! The creator of worlds!

Your pleas are of no use! The demonic voice spoke again. The Creator will not even speak to the devil himself!

Shut up! I yelled telepathically. Guthix! Evil is winning the battle. Grant me the power to justify this and keep things in balance. For evil nor good should cross their limits! Lend me the strength to overcome evil and keep balance once more! I yelled out loud this time. I felt the ground tremble at the sound of my voice. My voice sounded inhumane. I felt bad and my scream turned out to be a loud demonic roar. I did not know what was going on. Zane charged his fist using the power of his Earth Wave and hurled a punch toward me. However, I managed to hold the blow.

My hair grew longer and reached all the way down to me waist. My muscles expanded and grew larger. My fangs protruded from my teeth and my trousers nearly tore off. “I will make you suffer!” I roared at my father. My voice sounded exactly like the demonic voice that had spoken to me telepathically. But I had not the mind to stop and think about what was happening to me. I just wanted to end the cataclysm before it was too late.

“You resemble your mother,” Zane whispered. His expression changed from menacing to worry as I soon began feeling fear grasp onto my father. This time, it was I who had smiled the menacing smile. His pitiful face was my joy and I longed to see him suffer! I roared once more and felt extreme power grip me.

“Your time has arrived!” I yelled at the chaotic monster who had caused so much damage. I slowly walked toward him, chuckling threateningly. I felt my father tremble and he backed away in fear. Seeing the sorry state he was in I laughed. “Not so mighty any more, eh father?” I smiled, my sharp fangs touching my lower lip. Wally, Melina, and Sin looked at me bewilderingly. Obviously the three were surprised at my state. I ignored their confusion and went for Zane. I gave out a loud roar and hurled a large Fire Wave at my father. The monster was down, injured badly by just one spell. He immediately got up and ran. But I jumped up and landed in his way. “Not so fast,” I quickly charged my fist with a Fire Wave and punched Zane’s abdomen extremely hard. The blow was so hard that my fist tore through Zane’s skin and came out from his spine.

I smirked, seeing my father dead. I took my hand out of his body and let him fall. Suddenly, my body felt a shot of pain. I screamed, holding my head with both my hands. My muscles felt relaxed and grew back to their normal size. My hair began falling. They stopped falling until they reached their normal state. My fangs disappeared and my canines returned. Also, my entire body shrunk back to its normal size.

Thank you, Guthix! I praised my lord.

I heard the demonic voice laugh. That wasn’t Guthix, you fool! It was me!

I ignored the senseless statement and focused more on the beautiful sensation of laziness. Sleep felt like heaven and I also ignored my friends, who were asking me if I was OK, and fell asleep. The threat had finally stopped.

Chapter Twenty Nine

"You can not win Zaros!" I yelled at my former leader. Zaros ran toward me, however, my Armadyl Staff kept him at bay. "Give up your empire and power to me," I threatened. "And I'll spare your life." The pitiful excuse of a god only snarled and ran at me. This time, I realised I hadn't a choice left. So I lunged my Armadyl Staff at Zaros and the pushing force of his run made the Staff cut through his body. "It didn't have to be this way," I whispered. "You left me with no choice." Zaros coughed out blood and then died. I took the Staff out of his body and wiped the blood off of it by rubbing it onto Zaros's clothes. The crowd of Zarosians around me looked at me with fear. It was obvious that they were awed at their God's downfall. I held up my Armadyl Staff in front of them. "Those who shall accept me as their new God will live," I yelled, my voice reaching across the entire hall. "Those who don't, will die." With that said I seated myself on Zaros's - my - throne and was met with a crowd of Mahjarrats, bowing down at me.

"My lord!" One of my followers came up to me and said, "It seems as though Azzanadra and Akthanakos refuse to repent! What of they, my lord?"

"Bring them to me," I said.

"I am sorry my lord," My follower bowed down.

"You let them escape!?" I bellowed.

"It was not intentional, lord," My messenger cried. "Please forgive me."

"Ah, weakling," I commented on the foolish act of my messenger 'begging' for mercy. "Go find them!"

"We can't," My messenger stood up. "Because they are already approaching here with an army."

"Hmm," I drummed my fingers against the arm rest of the throne. Then I looked at my Armadyl Staff. "No matter what they throw at us, we can win." I got up from my throne. "Prepare an army of our own." However, with the Armadyl Staff in my possession I doubted the need of an army. But it was good to be on the safe side. "Where's my son?"

"He's in the courtyard, lord," My messenger spoke as he bowed and left the room to fulfil his duties.

I walked down from my throne and went outside into the courtyard of the large palace. It felt good being a God. It felt as if the whole world was ready to do your bidding. As I was walking, I heard footsteps from behind me. "Iban?" I turned around and was met with a very powerful spell, knocking me away several feet. The Armadyl Staff was still in my grip.

"Thanks for doing my work for me!" Iban said. "Now, hand over the staff, Zamorak."

"How dare you speak of your father that way!" I got up, enraged at my son's foolish attempt to overthrow me. "I doubt you even have any follower." As soon as I finished saying that, Iban clicked his fingers. Coming from the shadows of the courtyard came five muscular Mahjarrat.

"You were saying?" Iban whispered.

"Hah!" I laughed as I awaited the warriors. Each Mahjarrat had a long Broad Sword with a large rectangular shield. Despite the heavy equipment, they were no match for me. One of the warriors ran at me, his Broad Sword ready to cut me in half. I parried the blow and then struck his armoured belly with my staff. Then, I blasted him away using a powerful, but unknown, spell from the staff. The Mahjarrat died instantly.

The remaining four surrounded me from every corner. They approached cautiously, moving in a circular pattern. Instantly, all four of the massive Mahjarrats swung their blades at me. I successfully parried one and dodged the other, but the remaining two had cut me. One had made a small cut on my spine whilst the other had badly cut my arm. I dropped the Armadyl Staff as I gasped in pain. At that moment, Iban rushed toward the staff and pointed it at me.

"Those who shall accept me as their new God will live," Iban threatened me, mockingly. "Those who don't, will die." I had no other choice but to give up to Iban's demands and so surrendered myself unto him.

"Now was not the time to betray me, Iban," I warned. "A much greater threat approaches us and only I know how to defeat them!"

"You were always good in telling lies, father," Iban taunted. "Lock him in the darkest cellar!" Iban, his image now disgusting to me, walked away into the throne room.

The Mahjarrat tightly held me in their grasp as they led me into a dark dungeon. There, they unlocked a tiny but dark cellar and threw me inside. I sat there in amazement at the tide of events. Just as I had gained the upper hand against Zaros, I thought I was to become king. But, like Zaros, I too was betrayed. Unable to regain my empire I retired in the cellar.

"Zamorak!" I heard a deep, demonic voice call out my name. "Zamorak! Wake up!" Opening my eyes, I was met with a large Mahjarrat, standing outside my cellar.

"What do you want?" I asked angrily.

"Lord Iban needs your help," The Mahjarrat whispered, obviously embarrassed at having told me that.

"Ha!" I chuckled. "The fool needs my help? What for?"

"It seems that the threat you were speaking of was true," the Mahjarrat spoke softly. "Lord Iban is unaware of how to defeat them, and so he calls upon you!"

"I refuse," I simply stated. "I will not help anyone until and unless I am given the staff!"

"Lord Iban promised handsome rewards after the completion of your first quest," the Mahjarrat told me.

"The Staff?" I asked.

"Something even better," the Mahjarrat whispered assuringly.

"Very well," I said, still a bit unsure about my decision. The Mahjarrat led me out of the forsaken dungeon and into the armoury. There, he told me to wear a massively large and spiked full armour set with crimson trimmings. After wearing the set, he gave me a large battle axe, the metal polished neatly and the handle glittering with gold.

"You are to lead the elite faction," the Mahjarrat retorted as he left the room. After the battle was over and won, I will regain my throne, I thought. I left the room and headed for the courtyard. There my small army of 500 Elite Mahjarrat awaited me. I looked at them with pride and set out to eliminate the Zarosian Threat once and for all!

Iban's army was in the front-line whilst my Elite army stayed in the rear. I saw Azzanadra and Akthanakos leading their army to battle! The time for war had started and our massive armies collided!

* * *

"Ken! Are you with me?" I heard the familiar voice of Melina waking me up. "Ken!" She said with joy as she hugged me.

"What happened?" I asked wearily.

"You just killed Zane!" Melina said with joy.

"I did. I did, didn't I?" I whispered to myself. "Yeah, I did." I smiled.

"Sorry to be the first to break in the bad news but we still have to rescue Rose," Wally stated seriously.

"Right," I struggled to my feet, but with Melina's help I was able to stand firm. "Where's Sin?"

"He's gone to check if any more trouble awaits us," Wally explained. Then he headed outside the hall gesturing for us to follow. The hunt for Rose had begun!

Chapter Thirty

I brushed the dirt off of my clothes as I struggled to get on my feet. "So where could Rose be?" I asked Wally.

"I saw Drakan and her walk out the Hall," Wally answered. "They couldn't have gotten too far."

"Well then lets go!" I burst out, walking away from Melina's support.

"Heads up guys," Sin interrupted. "Those tentacled bast-ards are approaching."

"How can you tell?" Wally asked.

"When those dark clouds are close, then the demons are sure to be near as well," Sin pointed out to thick, dark clouds in the horizon. Those were the same clouds that had hovered above Varrock when the demons first attacked it. "We'll have to keep a strong guard as they can attack at any time."

Wally began walking outside the Hall. Melina, Sin and I followed Wally outside. After walking for a few minutes we were able to see the slow moving carriage in which the couple were held. I couldn't even think what Drakan would be doing inside with her, so I had to get to Rose fast. But we were slowed when a band of Vampire Guards spotted us and attacked. "Now is not the time," I gritted. I ran toward one of the Vampire Guards and pulled at his arms. Surprisingly, his arms felt extremely easy to pull and so I completely pulled them out literally disarming him. I was dumbfounded but I realised I had not any time to stop and wonder. And so I used to weapons in the disarmed arm and began attacking the other two Vampire Guards. Sin quickly leapt in and head butted one to unconsciousness and threw his body aside. The last guard began running and so I threw the sword which I took from the disarmed Vampire and speared him in the spine, killing him instantly.

The battle had ended as quickly as it had began. We pursued the carriage once more and acted as if nothing really happened. The carriage had a rear window but, fortunately, it was curtained so we had no trouble tailing it. I came a little too close to the rear side of the carriage and felt like ripping apart the wood. But I knew I had to keep calm to rescue Rose.

The carriage moved slowly, which was really tiring to us, and it led us to a large stone palace. It wasn't the largest I had ever seen, but it was splendid. Entirely made of stone, it had several wooden watchtowers surrounding its many entrances and exits. As the carriage neared the palace, the rest of us slowed down our pursue. There were two guards standing outside one of the entrances and inspected the carriage before it entered. Upon seeing Drakan inside, they immediately let it in. It was at that moment that we knew we had to get rid of the guards. Wally and I slid close to them, taking cover from the thick grass and bushes. Realising that there was no way of quietly killing them, we had to ambush them. Wally and I sprang from our hiding places and Wally kneed his guard in the groin and smashed the back of his head against the wall while I simply twisted the head of my guard.

We didn't speak much after we finished because we had to hurry before the demons arrived. The gate leading inside the palace was made of iron but had a foot wide gaps. They weren't enough for us to squeeze through.

"Stand back," Sin spoke as we stepped aside. He concentrated on the gate. Suddenly, the gate was pushed back by an invisible force. "Telekinesis." Sin whispered. "Manipulating a simple Telekinetic Grab to do other things." It was quite impressive. He didn't even move a muscle and the door broke right there in front of him. I was awed at how much a Wizard was capable of. After the gate had broken I thought that we had made too much noise and we would get caught. But, surprisingly, no one had noticed and the entrance was clear for us to go inside.

A large wooden door was the only thing that separated us from the palace now. Sin broke the huge iron padlock using his Telekinesis once again and we entered the palace.

"Its about time you arrived," Drakan spoke as he stood in front of us. The interior was dark and no torches was on. Only the moonlight was let through from the glass-less windows. "Ken. I don't think Rose is ready to leave me. Not after what I had done to her." He smiled to me evilly. I quickly lost my temper and went over to him and grabbed his throat.

"You did nothing!" I whispered, tightening my grip.

"I don't think... doing this... would be the best... idea," Drakan gasped, barely able to speak. "You wouldn't want... Rose to get hurt... now would you?" I immediately let go of his neck, but kept my gaze. I hated him. "You and your friends have been a nuisance for me." He spoke, clearing his throat.

I raised my fist but was stopped by one of the Vampire Guards who appeared out of the darkness. Several others followed, holding my friends. "You won't get away with this," I whispered threateningly.

Drakan chuckled. "You speak as if I was simply going to lock you away. We will lock you and your pitiful friends, but tomorrow night you all will be beheaded!" His voice grew louder as the words came.

"Kill us if you want, but you still won't get away with us," I whispered menacingly at Drakan. Drakan immediately gestured for the guards to stop taking us.

"What do you mean?" He asked me, cocking an eyebrow.

"Demons," I said, comfortable with Drakan's new found stress. "They come out of nowhere and they destroy everything in their path. And their headed this way and from among us, only me and my friends have experience dealing with them. Not you." I smiled at Drakan. I was able to taste his stress.

"Lock him away!" Drakan bellowed. "It looks like he's lost it already."

"You know I speak the truth!" I yelled back at Drakan as the guards took me and my friends away.

The guards threw us inside a dark cellar. My maniacal thoughts were replaced with thoughts of worry. My own words worried me. If the demons were to attack, then that would also mean the end of Rose and my friends. Not knowing what to do, I slipped to the corner of the cellar and fell asleep.

* * *

"Hey you!" I heard a voice calling out my name. It was demonic. "Get up!" I opened my eyes and saw one of the Vampire Guards outside the cellar. My friends were awake. "Lord Drakan has called you." He pointed out to me.

"For what?" I asked suspiciously.

"Apparently," the Vampire Guard looked down in shame. "Those demons which you spoke of have attacked us."

"Ha!" I chuckled. "Tell Drakan to get lost!"

"He promised Rose's release after you have finished helping us," He spoke, assuringly.

"How can he be trusted?" I asked.

"When his empire is at stake, he really means it," the Vampire Guard unlocked my cellar. "Your friends will remain in the cellar." I had no other choice but to obey the Vampire and followed him outside the dungeon. He led me to a small room and showed me my armour. It was a large, spiked armour, and I was amazed at the familiarity of the armour set. After I put on the armour, the guard handed me a large Iron Battle Axe. It's blades were enormous and its hilt was glittering with gold.

"Hurry up outside," The Vampire Guard said. "Your faction awaits you."

I felt as if all these events have happened somewhere before but I was not able to recall. I headed outside the room and into the courtyard and was met with a large group of armed vampires. At that point I realised that these events had indeed happened before. It was all too familiar.

I was accompanied by an experienced Vampire General who was lead the faction alongside me. Our armies met with those of the demons. I had never seen a large gathering of those demons. And was amazed at their number. Not only did they have us outnumbered but they also had us outmatched. The horn blew and the soldiers gave out a war cry. In a few moments our massive armies rushed toward each other. Two big armies collided...

Hey everyone! I really appreciate it that you guys like my story. Well, before I start off with another scene, I'd like to take my time into telling some of the changes I'll be making. Normally, the God Staffs are used to cast spells of their respective Gods (for example: Saradomin Staff is used for Saradomin Strike, Guthix Staff is used for Claws of Guthix, and Zamorak Staff is used for Flames of Zaramok).

In the 'Fall Of Gielinor' the God Staffs have that capability, but they also have their own special God-like abilities. The abilities of each God Staffs are listed below:

1. Saradomin Staff:
It can heal someone, it can restore lost power, it can sense power, and it allows the wielder to see things in far away places.

2. Guthix Staff:
It can create a force field, it allows the wielder to control all the forces of nature and wildlife, and it also allows the wielder to communicate with any God.

3. Zamorak Staff:
It can cause enormous explosions, it allows the wielder to control the temperature, and it also allows the wielder to call upon all the followers of Zamorak.

Well those are all the changes I've done. Hope you enjoy the story.

NOTE: All these changes which I've made are not real and are completely fictional. They have just been changed to suit the conditions in my story.
Wackitty
Amazing story! I'm really enjoying it? So is there more? Oh, and I loved the way you added more concepts to the god staves... ps. i really liked the battle between roy and the others

I like the threats which you have given the protagonist in your story. First we find that Varrock's been attacked by some sort of weird entity; those demons. Secondly, the characters are faced with the threat of Chaos Druids, Zamorakian Mages, and King Lathas (or atleast for Wally and Sin). And thirdly, there are the Vampires that are also proving to be a threat. Nice story btw.

One thing I don't understand, though. In your story, who is the MAIN hero? As in the mainest of the main!

Ken: He is the narrator of the story but that doesn't necessarily mean he might be the hero. Because you portrayed him as a little bit cowardly, although he did manage to defeat Sin with Fire Waves!

Wally: He used an incredible amounts of Air Bolts without the help of a staff and nearly killed Roy!

Sin: He was the one who used the finishing Fire Bolt to kill Roy!

Melina: She is strong. Although she never defeats anyone so far, I can tell she is good and experienced.

Rose: I don't really know about her. Is she an extra? Or is she going to turn out to become one of those mystery characters?

Please tell me the main hero!

Yeah, this is a great story...the thing I don't get is, how come if this Ken's father and mother were fighting with the army of Misthalin, how could they be vampires? In the Battle like you said where Varrock and Morytania were fighting, you said your mother and father died in the war. But they were on Varrock's side, not the Vampires'...Good story...Rated 1000000000000000000000/10! Can't wait 'till I see what happens...

Thanks for the comment on my new post. Yeah, I kind of figured it wouldn't be that much fun to read but the next chapter will hopefully be more interesting to the readers! And about your new story, I congratulate you in deciding to make a story and if it is runescape-related story then make it in RuneScape Stories, but if it is a fantasy story about non-runescape content then I suggest you use The Library. smile.gif
Wackitty
it is a fantasy story but i can easily make it into a runescape story, just wanted to know where it would suit better...
Buland
If you can change it into a RuneScape story easily, then I suggest you post it here in RuneScape Stories for two reasons:

1. A fantasy story always suits RuneScape Stories.

2. Not many people are active in The Library. I'm saying this out of experience. If you post in The Library you'll barely get any responses.
