What do you guys think is the best distribution of Linux and why?
Youhei
Xubuntu, I use it and for my Windows 98 which gets viruses easily but now that I use Xubuntu for it, it is very safe. Plus its for older computers.

I really like ubuntu, it has a simple UI and the community is great for whenever you want to fix a problem. I've heard good things about Xandros as well but haven't needed to try it out. Suse is supposed to be good too, but heck i just love ubuntu biggrin.gif running it at the moment.

I started out as a fan of Ubuntu, but I tried Fedora, and fell in love with it. It's smoother, better made, and just "feels" better. However, the skill level required is a little higher, but if you're using linux in the first place, it shouldn't be a problem

Both use gnome do you think its better? I'm really impressed with ubuntu at the moment it really uses my memory and quad core very well. Quad cores are always utilized on certain apps and memory is used effectivly.

Do you know any linux distro with good ati support pfft.gif?

I'd like to try RedHat.

Linux Mint is a great Ubuntu based Linux distribution. I used it a few times while staying with a friend of mine, and it completely blows Ubuntu away. Many people say that Linux Mint is what Ubuntu should of been. A few plus sides to it is there is a Gnome, KDE, XFCE, Fluxbox, and Debian editions of Linux Mint, and you can use a Live CD to test it out (Just a note, if you use the KDE version, you need to have a blank DVD and a DVD writer. You can also use the miniKDE version with just a CD if you dont have a blank DVD or a DVD writer. Its still KDE based, but just doesnt have all the applications the full KDE version has. Your better off going with the main edition which is Gnome based and has quite a variety of great apps with it.

Linux Mint may be a good OS, but in all honesty, I'm a Vista person and prefer it very much over anything Linux based.

I like:
Ubuntu - First I ever used, impressed me a lot because of speed.

Fedora - Runs really smooth, and looks better (Even though its GNOME, I still think it's more distinctive pfft.gif )

I'm downloading/dual booting it.

Fedora is probably best if you're a new user. Ubuntu takes a little more skill.
Zero
1. Slackware
2. Debian
3. Ubuntu/Xubuntu (I know Ubuntu is base off of Debian)
4. Knoppix
5. Fedora

Thats my top 5 list of distros.
