I was just thinking that a lot of people are sports fans and there is always something big going on in sports. Like this month is March Madness which includes not only the NCAA Final Four Tournament, but also the beginning of the Major League Basbeball season.
Summer issues would include stuff about both the NBA and NHL playoffs. Also in August you could focus on the Summer Olympics.
Each issue would be able to have something big in sports about it. You could also include a viewpoints part where you could talk about controversies such as steroids in sports, cheating, best players, best games, etc.
I would think there would be enough interest to include a sports section but I'm not completely sure.
Anyway, just an idea...

Sport is already covered in Entertainment. Is there some reason you think it should be in its own section or had you simply not realized that it was already covered?

I didn't realize that it was already covered. My bad...

But there is not enough football/soccer!!!
90% should be filled with it!

We have around two or so sports articles every edition of the newspaper.
Unless there is a massive surge of sports articles that get accepted, I don't think it needs its own section.

I agree, but what if there was a team extremely dedicated to the Sports Section. Sorta like how Slashing is really dedicated to Stories and Poems?

We would need to find people dedicated to sports. On the forums, sports discussion goes under Entertainment, and they are not always many topics. It's not easy to find someone and other people as well who are dedicated to writing, organization, sports, and working.

Sports would be too specific, as to Entertainment which is broad and many people may be able to dedicate their time to.

I agree with the majority of the people in that there isn't any real need for a sports section now.
Maybe if we get a group of people that are writing quite a few sports articles a week it might be worth it.
The other problem you could run into is a one sided sports section. You might have several people in the U.S. writing about baseball and basketball but with little to no articles covering international football/soccer.

.
Well I would be dedicated. I have a sports blog going on its second or third year on sportingnews.com. I am also in the process of working on an article about March Madness. I follow sports year around, also. If I figure that I have enough time to write a monthly or bi-monthly article for the paper, I may apply.

There isn't enough Premiership football :c
I dedicate my life to football, there should be some section with it.
Could it like merge with entertainment?

We already include sports such as football, american football, etc. in the entertainment section.

If you don't mind, I am going to make the final decision here. Basically, with the newspaper, all Entertainment is put together. There isn't enough to write articles per issue, and we don't really have writers and I don't think it's necessary to search for writers for a Sport Section. Overall, it's not going to happen because we don't need it. Sorry.
