NCAA March Madness!
Yes it’s back! The NCAA’s (National Collegiate Athletics Association) annual basketball tournament is getting under way this Thursday. For those who do not know, ‘March Madness’ is an annual basketball tournament held by the NCAA. On Sunday, the league decided on the Sixty-Four most deserving teams to play in this tournament. There are four different Regions, each consisting of Sixteen teams that will play off to decide who will be this year’s March Madness Champion! Every team received a number that represents their position, and who they will play in each region. The higher rated teams will play the lower rated teams and it will work its way together. There will be a Number 1 team in each Region, and they will face the Number 16 team. The Number 2 team will face the Number 15 team and so on. The teams that captured Number 1 positions were, North Carolina with a record of 32 wins and 2 losses, Kansas with a record of 31 wins and 3 losses, UCLA with a record of 31 wins and 3 losses, and finally Memphis with a record of 33 wins and 1 loss. Every team has a definite position already, except for Mt. St Mary’s College, and Coppin State College. They will face off Tuesday to decide who will get the final number 16 position in the tournament. The other team will not be competing in March Madness. The game will be held in Dayton, Ohio at 7PM Eastern Time.
Games for this tournament will be held in: Omaha, Washington D.C., Anaheim, Denver, Tampa Bay, Raleigh, Birmingham, Little Rock, and the Finals will be in San Antonio, Texas. The Championship will be held on the seventh of April.
All of the 1, 2, 3, and 4 seeded teams are the teams expected to have a chance to make the ‘Final Four’, but many expect there to be a few upsets. A few years back, a Number 15 seeded team, defeated a Number 2 seeded team, so don’t be surprised to see a few upsets. This tournament could hold many surprises. Might this be the first year that a Number 16 seeded team is victorious? Will this be the year that your team stands tall?
There is a lot of anticipation for this tournament and much is expected out of the top teams to deliver. All the teams are going to have compete, with all their passion and heart to be called ‘March Madness Champion!’
