I believe if you're on the team for a certain section (graphics) you should talk to the section head of your desired section and ask him if you could write articles for it.

So i couldn't as such be on the team?

Yes, you can write for multiple sections. But it is advised you contact the section before.

Your article can be for any section, but once you hired you can write for multiple sections
