I read this on the Internet today, and I thought I would share.

We hate spam and hate those spammers too. But how do we get spam? We get most of the spam from the spammers who buy our email address from the websites where we register and give out the email address.
It is absolutely impossible for us to find out who sold our email address to those spammers who choke our inbox with unwanted emails. But now there is a solution to find out people who sell our confidential information to others. Gmail provides a not so explicit feature which you can use to find out which website is giving out your email address to spammers. This will not work for the previous websites where you have already registered but you can use it for future registrations.
Here is how to use it:
1. While signing up for any new website enter your Gmail address as your_user_name+website_name@gmail.com.
2. Don’t worry, you will receive the mails as usual because Gmail doesn’t recognize any combination of words or numbers after the “+” sign.
3. Whenever you get any spam message just click on the “Show Details” link to expand the email header and find out the email address to which it was sent. The images below show a test which I did with a “+” sign on my email address.

Yahoo has the best E-mailing but not the best IM, leave that to Windows Live Messager and Skype for now. Mainly because Hotmail is easy for Teenagers to fuction that know nothing about computers.

Thats opinion, I would say Google Mail is best email service and Google Talk is the best IM.

The "spam filter" on Yahoo mail automatically deletes the forum activation email before it even gets to your inbox. It doesn't show up in the spam folder of anything. You have to turn of their "advanced spam filter" to get it.

Nice find, I really can't wait to try this out

It would be funny to collect all the website that sold your e-mails, and make a YouTube video which 'Names and Shames' them

Must be down to Tinypic, guess they have some type of filter which stops + in email address.

Another method I've found that surprised me to work was to actually follow those Unsubscribe links. I figured that would trigger sending even more or giving my details to another company or something. I had 100+ new spam mail every time I checked my email and I check it multiple times a day. So one day, I opened each one and unsubscribed to each system, even if two emails were from the same company. In a couple weeks time, I noticed a decrease in the number of emails. So I continued to do so once every few days to about 50-100 emails and now I'm down to only 10 or so spam mails a day. It was annoying to do this, but a few weeks afterwards, I'd say my efforts were worth it.

I've been using this feature for over a year, it is probably the one of the most useful features ever. Brilliant idea on Google's part, it not only makes it easier to filter spam, but it also makes it easier to sort email. The only problem I found was that some websites don't like the "+" symbol, in that case, I just provide my other gmail address which is forwarded to my main gmail account and put into a special folder.
