Full Version: Zune 80 Or Ipod Touch?

Out of curiousity. Any expiriences?

I'm mostly interested in sound quality but I wanted a nice screen.

The Ipod touch isn't a large enough capacity @ 16gig for me to be able to dump my whole library into it. The Zune 80 is supposed to have excellent sound quality though. I obviously cannot move my itunes library over onto the Zune though.

Ipod is flash memory and THIN

Zune has a disc drive and a much large capacity.

As for the question at hand, Zune provide excellent quality of sound as well as video, Personally i don't see the difference with ipods apart from the size.

Well never had a Zune but I have an I-Pod touch and I must say its pretty pimpin' I would vote for that, it can surf online, music, and once you jailbreak it it can pretty much do anything =P

The iPod is basically a complete computer. The MP3 player functionality can be somewhat described as a cool extra, seeing it's also a web browser, 3D game platform (in the near future), mail reader, navigational system, photo browser, video viewer (the Zune doesn't even compare to how amazing the iPod views videos), podcast viewer/downloader and a lot more. If you jailbreak it you can even add more applications. I have 66 applications on my dock, excluding my web server, tweaks, interface mods, etc. That's a whole lot more functionality than the Zune! Plus, if you carry around more than 16 GB of music, there's no way you're going to want to listen to all songs of that.

And the iPod looks a lot better, has the 3.5" multi-touchscreen (which is also pressure sensitive) of 480x320 pixels in resolution (which is very high and the images look extremely crisp), accelerometer (detects exactly how you tilt the device in all 3 angles [x,y,z]), automatic synchronization with iTunes, plays the music from the iTunes music store and it supports all iPhone applications, except the cellphone specific, if you jailbreak it.

The Zune has only one or two advantages. A) it syncs with WMP, B) it's got more harddrive space. But it's just an MP3 player, something you can't say about the iPod Touch.

And for sound quality, Apple has had a lot more experience in that area than Microsoft. The Zune is a rather young platform, whereas iPod is more than 6 years old. That, and I can tell you my iPod provides better sound quality than my desktop computer.

You can play World of warcraft on the ipod touch tongue.gif
Also various other stuff all you need is a compatiable pc.

And Why would you need to listen to 16gbs worth of song?
heck 500mb would be enough for me.

Not to mention that since the ipod touch has internet capabilities, there are plenty of sites that you can listen to your favorite music (seeqpod, rhapsody, etc.) not to mention you can just hop over to youtube and watch your favorite music videos if you want.

I used to be a supporter of the zune, but when the ipod touch came out....it kinda destroyed every other music player out there. laugh.gif

IpodTouch.

Internet+Games+amazing look.

If you have a big library, you may want to consider the iPod Classic 80gb, I chose it over the touch because I would use up the touch's 8gb way to fast. You can get it for about $260.

I would have to say an iTouch.

Just because the fact that I would trust apple more with Mp3's than Microsoft tongue.gif

I would get the Ipod Touch. It might not differ a lot from the Zune in terms of playing music but it's got so many extra features that the Zune just isn't in the same class.

I'm going to point you towards the iPod Touch as well. Why? 16GB is more than enough. For sound quality, iPod does beat the Zune by a good bit--and iPod's earbuds are higher quality than the Zune's.

For music yes, but you'd soon fill it up if you put videos on there.

Not for music for me. I am a big collector and most of my collection is on my iPod. Just the music alone exceeds 16GB, but I do have a few videos on it. I have an iPod Classic 80GB btw and I absolutely love it.

Well said. And if i were you, I would just get the Touch cause you can go to internet and listen instead of just listening to it so bored on the Zune. Also, I think you can make it like a iPhone if you tweak it a little aware.gif

Computers have some of the worst sound quality, especially when compared to real sound systems. Digital cannot beat analog, especially with music. Personally, I avoid all MP3s and MP4s, and all other compressed music. If I have the space to spare, you have to go with uncompressed music. Compression just kills quality--a massacre for all intensive purposes. Yes, the iPod is better than the Zune, but that's usually more because the iPod bundles with better earbuds than the Zune--the Zune earbuds are effectively the $2.99-special.

Touch.

And when you have on. Please don't call it an iTouch.
Ramon
Wait for Touch memory to increase and then buy.

Edit: Also, wait for prices to drop. They always do.

Itouch. You can hack it and put games on it and you have the internet.
