I am making a game using a game maker software but I need music. I can't use premade songs due to all the issues with royalties and what not so I need to make my own. Somewhere while browsing the internet I remember someone saying anyone with a computer can write music?

Is this so?

If so how?

If not, what can I use to write my own music?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PPS: It also needs to be a .midi file

You can use some midi software (not sure on names, i used it at school ) which "records" instraments ontp the pc into kidi files.
You could use a program like Dance eJay ( a personal fav ) to mix your own.

I'm not sure what programs you would use to create .midi music.

However if you search around on Google you should be able to find plenty of royalty free .midi music files.

I've actually really wanted to find a program too, but the only program I could find was on this website, and it's a ringtone maker.

Don't google anything that has to do with free music creation programs. Nearly all of them are bad websites.

go to pyro-lyricist's list of free programmes. there's a list saying "audio creation". try those there...

DO NOT BLAME ME OR HIM/HER IF THERE'S A VIRUS OR THEY DO NOT WORK. they are not supposed to have viruses actually. but anyway if something does happen tell pyro-lyricist to edit the sticky.
