"A poet falls for a beautiful courtesan whom a jealous duke covets in this stylish musical, with music drawn from familiar 20th century sources."
I understand many of you may be completely opposed to the idea of ruining your reputation by watching a musical. I mean, really, musicals are supposed to be so fruity, with people singing just to say they need to use the bathroom.
Moulin Rouge! is not like that. It's slightly sexual, mostly endearing, totally bohemian, spectacular, spectacular! :] It's sort of a story within a story. I enjoy the movie so thoroughly because it's not people bursting into song every 30 seconds. Most of the musical numbers are compilations of popular songs from artists like The Beatles, Nirvana, and Madonna.
Directed by the AMAZING Baz Lurhmann, it stars the also amazing Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. Watch it {or rather not, since the legality of the link is rather...shifty.} :]
You should try watching it, and try to go into it with an open mind. It would add to your credibility as a person to be able to say you watched it and understood the message behind it (which also happens to be the only message I live by).
If you've seen it, awesome. :] Today you've made a new friend.
