Example article about Faking.

Faking is the art of taking a screenshot of RuneScape and editing it to a humerous Fake that cannot be done in RuneScape.

Faking used to be hard, before the introduction of Kits. Kits are templates you use to make your fakes, it makes it easier, faster and have a better outcome! With the new HD RuneScape out, faking has seemed to get harder, some people have stayed with the old graphics fakes, some have attempted the new ones and some people have just quit faking FULL STOP. There are many different kinds of fakes, Normal Fakes, HD Fakes, Animation Fakes, Interactive and even Game Fakes!

Over all they are fun to do, you start out with an idea, take the screenshot and start editing, but the best bit is releasing your work to the public and getting a rating of your work, take some tips from the raters. If your first fake gets bad ratings, don't worry, most people first fakes aren't that good, but over time you will perfect the art and get higher ratings.
Your fakes will generally get rated on the quality, effort, originality and flaws, so a faker needs to think about all of these.

Apart from the fact you can offer us fake images. Is there any journalism/writing skills.
What do you really plan on giving to the section you write for?

Ok so you have a reputation for faking, now what?

In making it or writing for and about it?

Your application doesn't impress me much, i'll let some other people give their verdict first.
Easl
i am currently working on fakes you'll see next issue tongue.gif. Kev as a faker your great, but maybe post an article, it would be nice to see some writing. I dunno if we had an office maybe you could make tea?
Le Breaker, this isn't a Kev support thread.
P.S Sorry Kev

By experience, we mean experience in WRITING. Please put in some sort of article about faking at the very least.

The newspaper is a place for people to display their writing abilities, not for their artistry. If you want to show off your Runescape fakes, well, there's a forum for that already, and you can continue posting there.

You need to write an example of a decent article that would should your adeptness with graphics. You'd need to describe a fake or something like that in detail, explaining what techniques they used, or maybe what they could do better next time. (for example) But I really don't think that lends itself to anything interesting. I mean, you write "oh, he blended this" "he added this" "he could have done better with the spacing of the text". It doesn't lend itself to stimulating discussion.

Or you could help do a "fake of the month" or something... I dunno, I just don't think another Runescape Fakes person is necessary, they seem to have what very little they can do under control.

Of course all of this is just my honest opinion, typing my thoughts out. I'm not sure anyone else shares my thoughts on the subject. box.gif Either way, you need to follow the guidelines of a textual application.

+1

I agree with Lilshu. Make sure you're going to do more than say : I think this fake has potential of being FOTM. There's more needed to be done just that, it doesn't take an expert to choose one of those. Right now, I'm not seeing how that 2px shadow under text being slightly off will like Lilshu said, stimulate discussion. Make sure you write in a way that will make people WANT TO FAKE and enjoy the process of faking itself, not just the finished outcome.

Make your article about faking itself. Please don't go off onto something completely off-topic like Easl did.

Kev
Ok, i've added my article, now i have to wait for it to be accepted.

After reading through your application, i can see that you can write a little. However i do not feel we need another writer for your type of catagory.

It's all up to CookTheChef but i think he will say the same thing as i have.
Easl
I could do with an assistant, he can push the pensa round and photocopy.
Kev i'm not sure, if you did join you'd do the fake collecting and I'd do the articles probably.
Cookthechef
I don't know if we need anything more people on Fakes. Easl, do you really need someone else to help you?

Easl
It wouls be an help, my reasons would be:
Trying to art and graphics coursework (and IT) means I have less time for writing
Kev and me are mates, we get on well and he'd be great on the team
Kev is more talented at promgramming, graphics anf aking
Theres no real downside of putting him in, only an extra bit in the credits.

What we could do is add him for a trial period, to see what he can produce in the time he is on the project. If he is good enough and is needed for the graphics section then he could be kept.
Max the Dog
Part of the newspaper is not about just specificly just putting up images so people can see them.
You need to kind of journalise about the fakers and whats happening with them and then show the fakes.
Good application though =]
