How did the guy from the gsmhosting (bRad) do it? Could anyone do it for me? I want to overclock my piece of crap computer so bad! I could use a BIOS password cracker or something, but I'm scared that might ruin my computer...So in other words, can anyone do this for me?
Agent F
I believe that's only to unlock the Bios if a System Admin has placed one to keep you out. That's what I'm getting from the posts anyways.

Are you the only person who uses your computer, Tig?

I got free access to the BIOS, i can change everything.
That means it is set a password on yours.
Did you install the computer yourself?
Or did someone else install it for you?
Then i mean, installing the operating system.

Mines was made with Dell, but this guy had a Dell also..And I think I found a way to unlock, well it says that it will, but it doesn't work. It's for my Dimension.

The steps are to unplug the 3 pin CMOS, which I did, and then you put it on the 2 and 3 pins. Then you wait 5 secs and then you put it back on the 1 and 2 pins. When I booted up, I went to the BIOS and it didn't work. It was still like that.

I might suggest, even if your computer is a peice of "crap", overclocking, isn't healthy. It literally involves, overworking your system. Make sure you have adequate cooling if you wish to continue.

I need to know a couple of things, is your PC, shop built, or bought from a company ie; Dell, Toshiba etc.

Dells will not overclock in 99% of systems sold in the last 4 or so years. They've physically removed that portion of the BIOS--there are no ways to overclock it, though on some systems there are ways to underclock it.

In short--don't hold your breath. Even software tools I've seen to overclock usually don't work on most Dells.

Would my computer work if it was built in 2002? tongue.gif I'll just overclock it little. Mostly the CPU and graphics. Tweak it up like a pinch.

No, it probably won't. The link to those forums was about laptops, not desktops. If you want to see about overclocking graphics, please run CPU-Z (check the signature) and GPU-Z--I need to find out what you have in the first place. That, and software overclocking is dangerous for that particular era of hardware--mainly because FSB:DRAM:PCI buses are all in sync--locked. By raising the PCI bus much over about 36MHz (from an original 33.3MHz, about a 10% increase), you start running the severe risk of corrupting your OS installation and data loss. Depending on graphics, you may or may not be able to overclock graphics. Even if you do, it's unlikely you'll see much more than a 10-15% increase.

Hmm, ok, after reading your post, I have decided to not overclock cause of the danger of frying my computer. So if you want, please close this post.
