Why I would like to join: I would like to be part of the monthly newsletter staff mainly because I wish to get a feel for how a newsletter is ran and managed. I have noticed that no one writes about anything in sports in the entertainment, and as an avid sports fan, I feel I could place something in that gap. As a fairly common contributor to Sal's Realm, I feel I should expand my horizons by contributing in another area of Sal's Realm.
Desired section: I am applying for the entertainment section.
My experience: I have never written for a newspaper before, however, I have wrote a number of guides just for the website of Sal's Realm. Those guides include the Wizards' Tower guide, the Fight Arena guide, and the Paterdomus dungeon guide. I also have another dungeon guide for the Canifis dungeon which is currently accepting and waiting to be put onto the website. Other than that, I also have a number of tutorials within the tutorial section of the forums. I would also like to note that I rarely, if ever, make grammatical mistakes.
My example: As I am applying for the entertainment section, particularly for sports articles, I feel I should use an example pertaining to sports.
The Chicago Cubs are currently the first place team in the National League's central division. They could very well be in second or even third place at the moment if it was not for a great pitching staff and timely hitting. The St. Louis Cardinals are not far behind the Cubs for the lead in the division, and the only reason they are not is mainly because when the Cubs lose, the Cardinals lose, and vice-versa. The Cubs are being plagued with injuries as of late, including that of Alfonso Soriano, Reed Johnson, and Carlos Zambrano. Fortunately for the Cubs, all three players will be returning very soon. The Cubs have been able to win games without them, but in some tight spots, have not been able to come away with a victory without them. If the Cubs can continue to get timely hitting and great starting pitching, the Cubs should be able to walk their way into the playoffs come October. The Cubs are currently in a slump, unfortunately, having lost six of their last ten games including a four game skid which involved a three game sweep in the south side of Chicago against the crosstown rivals, the White Sox. The Cubs will be in St. Louis this coming weekend for their last road series before the All-Star break. If the Cubs are able to hang on and beat the Cardinals, they should be going into the All-Star break still in first place.
