I was listening to some other podcasts on my iPod recently, it came to my notice that they appear to be talking live in a chatroom and they do not use voice recordings and assemble the words all together in the end. I am wondering if the Salcast could be done in the same way, you guys could all talk in a chatroom, thus, we, the listeners, don't have to encounter those breaks between speakers such as Salcast 8's conversation about Summoning. When you have finished your recording in the chatroom, you can always edit out stuff if you do not like it. This may be difficult, but, it would be quite interesting to listen to when it comes out.

So use ventrilo or teamspeak to talk and record it as the cast?

I would have thought it wouldn't be hard.

Yes, something along those lines. smile.gif Assembling separate voice recordings into one prevents the Salcast from being smooth. The chat can be recorded and the editor would not put together voice recordings but edit out pauses, bad words (pfft.gif), etc.

I don't think you should use those.

Use Shoutcast.

Something like a radio chatshow? I don't think it would work, we would need a professional set-up. (I could do that quite quickly but what would be the point in the show?)

It would basically be a SalCast with an easier script and more interaction between listeners and the cast team. I support your idea if you can get enough support for it to become a regular thing.

Quite scary, but no less exciting!
Desireful
Well, I would be horrible. I make tons of mistakes, so I'd sound like a freak when speaking. xd.gif

But yeah, it would be pretty cool. biggrin.gif I'd do it. tongue.gif Just don't laugh at my silly mistakes.
Entrility
I think it'd actually help to make this more like a radio show. Conversations > talking to no one
Amanda
I support this idea, it would make salcast a lot more interesting and professional.

I don't think professional is the best word biggrin.gif but it certainly would spruce things up a little.

I suggested this from the very start. tongue.gif

Best way I can think of is to use Skype to communicate and then record from it which could be done through Audacity. Certain progams could be used to do any editing.

This method means very little time is needed to produce it, a couple of hours at most.

What I was thinking was we use a Shoutcast server, and embed the player on the website, instead of using Skype to communicate completely.

I suggested that YEARS ago, but to Hexias.

It's quote on quote "live", I'm pretty sure that you can still edit the recording after you guys are done. biggrin.gif

The podcast that I got this idea from uses Skype, so it'd be quite interesting if the Salcast team uses Skype too. smile.gif

I can't see the point of using Shoutcast, remember Salcast is a podcast not a live radio.

I said in the original podcast suggestion topic that Skype should be used but people just said shunned it. sad.gif

So to sum up, you basically record a phone call on Skype with all the hosts in the conversation talking with each other like a radio show. Then you edit the recording, turn into MP3 and upload to the internet.

If it's a podcast, then what's the point of making it live, Skype of Shoutcast?

If they do it all together live, they can actively react to jokes and other people's emotions.

It should make it not such a dull book-on-tape.

No, for the discussions that are held in the podcast, it's just really distracting when you have different recordings and the timing of each and every phrase people says doesn't seem to fit in. Having a conversation on Skype may just kick in emotion.

I think the term 'live' being used confuses the whole thing, the suggestion isn't a live podcast, just a podcast where all the hosts talk in one flowing conversation rather than 'gluing' lots of recordings together.

Oh, then yeah, use Skype.
