Umm ya I don't think that this is a good choice compared to what the experts say but I'll go with a Q6600 because that's more future proof then a quad core.
It's a better idea actually. Yeah a quad-core may be faster in the future, but the E7200 is much less expensive and there will be another generation of processors in 6-12 months. I would personally upgrade again after Nehalem--but my plans for that won't be anywhere near the same as with others. Anyway--quad-cores see nearly no advantages over dual-cores. This E7200 has a big advantage actually--optimized uArch, higher clock speed, easier to overclock on P965 and P45 boards, and just less expensive overall. Half the price, all the gaming performance. That, and none of the initially stated games need much.

Wow VAT is really bad there. Cheaper keyboard and mouse? I'm using the AC Freezer 7 and the Logitech X-240 speaker set for the cart as well. If you don't need speakers, drop those and save yourself a good bit. Lower-end keyboard and mouse would definitely save you a bit.
bob did you FORGET the graphics card?

its a gaming build too. An ATI 4850 would be pretty good in that build as for "future proof" it'll be able to play games for a while but as for swapping out parts, core is being replaced with nehalem so you'll most likely want to rebuild core components when you find your gaming build isn't up to it anymore.
Sorry--Novatech is annoying and confusing--a bit too opaque for my tastes of an e-tailer. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to see the final sum....
Uh yeah--let's go with the HD4850. I coulda sworn I had it in there... if not, sorry? That's why I posted here--I do miss some things occasionally, and those prices in GBP make my eyes jump out of my head!
Go get some rest,

I have been trying to. The parties in Miami took a bit out of me--even now. When I wrote that, a whole heck of a lot more!
