Full Version: Swiftkit... Keylogger?

So I recently decided to get Swifkit since everyone's telling me it's legal and everything. But when I downloaded it, my computer told me that it's "Trying to track key strokes". So uh... Is it a key logger? Also, this message came up AFTER I logged in, and right after that message it froze up and put me back to the log in screen so I'd have to log in again...

Is it a key logger? Should I virus scan? Help? ;_;

EDIT: Also, I wasn't 100% sure if this should go here or not, so mods can feel free to move if they like.

Where did you download Swiftkit?
Lord Earth
I downloaded it from Swiftkit.net, or in otherwords the first result when I Googled it.
Magic Of Woodcut
You downloaded the wrong one. Yu should download the Zybez one. it's the most updated one, which you can download by clicking Here. That's the main one that is safe wink.gif
Lord Earth
Thanks, I'll uninstall it and install that one. But since I down loaded "the wrong one" it worries me, is it actually a key logger? bleh.gif
Magic Of Woodcut
It can be if you log on to RuneScape during it. Don't download that one again. It's unsafe. And read up on the one I linked you to before installing it smile.gif

Yes it does probably mean that the false SwiftKit you downloaded is infected.

To make sure that there are no keyloggers still on your computer:

Make sure you delete all traces of the false SwiftKit on your computer.

Run a thorough virus/spyware scan on on your computer.

This would be your best act: Spyware Blaster. It's one of the most powerful detectants for viruses, so download it and scan you computer, and give it a quick restart before installing the linked Switfkit wink.gif
Lord Earth
Yea I also realized Zybez directs you to Swiftkit.net anyway to download it... so I guess it wasn't a key logger? pfft.gif

EDIT:

Shpendii: Yep, I deleted it and I'm now virus/spyware scanning.
Magic Of Woodcut
Zybez has safe links in it. I believe it uses a different type of the Swiftkit link.
Lord Earth
How is the Zybex link any diffrent though? It directs me to exactly the same site I got Swiftkit the first time though. pfft.gif

I have download swiftkit from the main website, and my computer did not detect a keylogger. I have used it many times, and I haven't been hacked either. Check to see if the spyware isn't another program on your computer.

I can't remember what it says exactly, but I know it said the program was Swiftkit.

Also, I just remembered that I once downloaded Swiftkit from Zybez on another computer quite awhile ago. I kept getting messages saying it was a key logger, but I just kept on using it four or five times. Also, my computer had the same anti virus protecter thing, Zone Alarm. So I'm thinking now, maybe it's just Zone Alarm that THINKS it's a keylogger? pfft.gif

What is SwiftKit?

What SwiftKit is

it should answer your question.
Amanda
My Zonealarm causes me a lot of issues, it blocked me from accessing the internet altogether at one point.

Thousands, maybe even millions, including me, use Swiftkit. And i'm 110% sure it is safe and has no keylogger.

I'm pretty sure that Zonealarm is just being over-protective or wrong.

I don't use SwiftKit for alot of these reasons... closedeyes.gif

My advice would to not even bother with SwiftKit or any program like it because there isn't any real need. The program offers you nothing more that you can't do with another browser tab or window open. And you don't have to worry about keyloggers if you're playing Runescape directly through your browser. You can't say the same about a program like SK nomatter what the developers say. Just take a look at a former Tip.It administrator. He was unhappy and just before he left, he deleted their forum database so they had to go to an old backup. What's to say the same couldn't happen with a SK update but involving a keylogger? Better to be safe than sorry.
Xela
It comes up as a keylogger because it monitors the printscreen button for screenshots. SK is safe, and it's really useful.

What you should do is uninstall it and then scan your comp for spyware, viruses, etc.
Also change your password and bank PIN
This is why I don't download programs like these aware.gif

SK is safe, and the reasons for this can be found at the zybez forum which I can't really link to. It is not a keylogger, if it was that'd be hilarious and so many people would be hacked right now.. but you see, thousands of people aren't complaining it's a keylogger and claiming they've been hacked.. if they were wouldn't they say something .. ?
It's a safe, useful program, some anti spyware, anti virus, etc programs may have problems with it (like they have problems with everything else >_>) because of some of its features.
I'm not saying you should use it, as it's nothing other than simple tools in a small runescape client, but it is safe (as of now at least :l)

SpywareBlaster is a program that prevents against malware, it is not an actual tool for scanning and determining infection.

You guys do realize that the link on Zybez's website takes you to swiftkit.net, the same one he downloaded before.
Lord Earth
Well anyway, I after I deleted Swiftkit the first time after downloading it, I reinstalled it following the Zybez link, despite the fact it leads me to the exact same website.

Ever since then, Zone Alarm hasn't told me it was trying to "track my key strokes". So I suppose it's all good now.
