I think Mozilla messed up by not prompting all FireFox 2 users about upgrading to FireFox 3 through the check for updates feature. I never visit the Mozilla FireFox web page and rely on the check for updates feature. I bet a lot of people do the same thing so they would have never known (or still might not know) about FireFox 3 being released. pfft.gif

I am also disappointed in the Mozilla developers for forcing features on to their users. They removed the old FireFox theme instead of just adding a new one (the users had to recreate the old theme), they have a built in virus scanner which I don't think can be disabled, and users can't copy and paste links into the "browse" textbox on websites like imageshack. They should be enabled by default; however, there should be options to disable features I don't want. Especially if they weren't even included in FireFox 2. happy.gif

Opera and IE do the same thing about their themes, and you can disable the virus scanner... http://www.askvg.com/how-to-disable-automa...lla-firefox-30/

I'm kind of tired of all these people complaining about how horrible FF3 is. If you don't like it, uninstall it and use a different browser nobody really needs to hear your whining.

This is called a discussion. What's wrong with him posting about disliking the software? It's no different than you posting that you like the software. And it's not like there have been a surplus of threads about it either. This is maybe the third topic on FF3 since it was released.

Personally, I like FF3. (using it right now) But if you don't mind me asking, what is this "check for updates" you're talking about?

I like Firefox 3. There are a couple of things that I don't like all that much but they are far outweighed by the improvements.

Under the help menu there is an option to check for updates to Firefox.

Ah, thank you very much.

I only use Firefox on my XP Desktop which I am using now. With my MacBook Pro, I use Safari and don't bother getting Firefox for it unless something bad happens with Safari.
I've never noticed the update thing mainly because I have only used Firefox a long, long time ago and started using it actively now. The virus scanner is annoying because when I try to download something as simple as an image, it scans it for viruses trumpet.gif

The virus scanner (at least for me) only adds like 2-3 seconds to the download. Not a big deal.

Odd... I was using FF3 beta 5 when they released 'normal' FF3, and it prompted me...
The virus scanner doesn't add much for me, if any. Yes, it scans even images, but it takes a few seconds at most.
And you're right about the removal of the old theme-Doesn't make much sense, even though I didn't use the default on FF2.
