Full Version: Best Screen Recorders
What are some good screen recorders and how much do they cost?
I only know of a few screen recording programs.
- Camtasia ($299).
- Hypercam (Free). Quality sucks, but it's free.
And, the free trial really isn't a trial, or, at least I have not had any problems when I went over the supposed "trial" period. I think this is used for quite a few RS movies and pking videos.

Yep, and the free trial was far too complicated for me
unless you're going to use all the features or if you're a complete expert, it's nowhere near worth paying for it. As an alternative I believe Adobe Premiere is a good choice, and it's a much smaller $70 on Amazon. 
Well you can use fraps. If your good with it, it isn't bad. I have 2 issues with it: It only records 30 seconds, and the fps drops below 10 when you run the screen recorder.
I recommend you use the following:
Snapz Pro X - Pretty good quality, but it only lasts sometime if you use the preview...I don't know how long though

Screenium - Good quality as well. If you use the preview, you can only record up to 30 seconds of footage. If you buy it, it lasts longer, and is only $20.00 I think
They both probably cost less than $100.00

- Camastia Studio (299 USD)
Screen Recorder Gold(Free)
Fraps(I believe this is free)
Note: Screen Recorder Gold has Watermarks but has good quality.
Thing about Camatasia: Once you use up the 30 day trial: You can't use it anymore 
So I just use HyperCam.

Only one person has bothered to mention CamStudio. Personally I think it works great, except there's a bug when recording speaker sounds from Vista.
