Okay, 2 weeks ago, I went on vacation and left my two cats, brother and sister, very friendly with each-other, with my caring landlord.

Exactly 1 week ago, however, the sister got out. We didn't know where she was, and we were really afraid. She was in our basement the whole time. She was down there exactly 1 week.

Yesterday, we found her. We brought back up, and she ate for a while.

Here's the thing. Now, no matter how much I pet, she still cries. Her brother and herself keep checking each other out, but when they get too close, they hiss at eachother. At first it was just her, now it's both. The brother was lost without her, now they won't be together.

I want my cats back. What's wrong?

I'm not exactly a cat expert, but I'd have to say that they're sad.

About what? I want to help them...

Personally, I don't like the idea of being trapped in a pitch black room with no food or water for a week. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that your cat didn't like it in your basement.

The fact is that she's back. I really don't understand. She's ate and drank till her stomach was full...

Perhaps when your cat left, the brother cat felt upset and became detached from the other cat, thinking something happened or wondering why suddenly his sister isn't in the house. Possibly your cat was around other cats, and the brother cat isn't happy with his sister.

Treat them both equally and be kind to them, give them the same things, and after a week maybe things will get better. It could be one cat jealous of the other.

Yeah, I thought they might have got POed with eachother somehow. But yeah, they're fixed, and I couldn't imagine the male being aggressive, he's too soft.

It doesn't matter that she's in good condition now. It's like saying that a prisoner of war's torture can be nulled by buying him lunch. Your cat has been affected psychologically and physically. So far, you've only compensated for her physical needs.

What could she need emotionally?

Who knows? Hire a cat whisperer.

I'd bring her to a vet before a cat whisperer. aware.gif

I wouldn't be able to afford it.
