Considering i'm only paying for a 4 MB onenction, that owns. I got ugraded for free And I live in London right next to the server so... Don't think it would make much of a difference.

But from reading up very few users achieve 8000 Down at all and if they do it only lasts maybe half an hour.

That is what you get from using a cheap ADSL ISP.

Not very good, but i had to use the London server which is on the other side of the country. Even though, it's still not that good.

You should contact Virgin Media about that, you should be getting atleast 3500kbps based on your upload and the package you must therefore be on. Unless someone else is slowing your net down.

Something else? Nothing that i can think of... but i'll talk to my dad about it. Considering he pays for it and he is the network manager...

Could be someone leeching of your network or P2P downloading.
