http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2329247,00.aspThe beta hasn't been released yet, should be later today.
All I can say is I hope it behaves like Firefox so we don't have to redesign websites for it.

It uses Webkit, the same rendering engine as Safari.
idk why we need another browser.

We don't need another browser. We need a browser that does Javascript very fast, is lightweight, stable and uses the same standards as Firefox to stop the browser inter-incompatibility problems. --- Oooh, wait.
Definitely going to download this.

Pretty good looking so far, missing my plugins, tho.

I downloaded and this thing eats a lot of system resources but it is fast at what it does though I miss my add-ons from Firefox.

I've just downloaded and installed 30 seconds ago and so far I am just thinking wow. It seems to have a low memory footprint too, which is good because I have a couple of PC's which could do with a low memory browser.
Very interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on it.

It's quite nice I guess but it has a little too simple look for me (even though simple helps).

Same here Stobbo, it's absolutely WOW! It's amazing. If they can get a plugin thing with alternatives for AdBlock etc. I'll be a happy man

Really, it is eating a lot of mine system resources but that is also because I'm running Google Gears, which will port your Google Web Apps to your desktop and run them through Chrome.

Yes I've already downloaded and installed and have had a brief look around and play with. Not all that IMO, although don't get me wrong it's better than some.

I don't think you can make such a blanket statement as Firefox > Chrome right now, the two software are in very different stages of life and you haven't had a chance to use Chrome properly.

I guess but normally Beta's do contain a fair bit of the stuff that will be released with the v1.0.
It's only normally when you go diving into the Alpha and software development stages that you don't get a lot of the added features.
But I agree. Google is a great company (when comparing to greedy Microsoft) and I'm sure there's more, better things to come.

Simplicity is what most people want. They don't want to spend 10 minutes trying to find an option. Though, the best way is to have Simple and Advanced modes.

That might explain why.
Downloaded it and tried it out. As of right now, I'll keep Safari as my default browser. Possibly once it's out of Beta (if it ever does - think Gmail) then I'll give it another try. It seemed fast, though. This is one that could work well on less powerful machines. May try it on my dad's laptop. See if it improves over FF2.

Very sleek and simple looking, just the way I like it. Runs about 10k of memory as a base amount, kicks it up to about 12 when you open a few tabs. (At least for me). Still not stable with Flash or Java, but it's a BETA so give it some time. Allows you to upload most data from Firefox after installation. Another thing I like is the numbered lines in the source coding for pages. Options menu is pretty simple and clean, but I'm hoping they add a few more options in the full release because there isn't much going on in there.
I basically love it's simplicity and lack of memory usage. It's just a great browser overall. I hope they don't bombard the full release with pointless new features that decrease the quality of browsing. I like it just the way it is, but of course it still has tweaks that need to be made being it's not the full version. I like it.
Edit: Heh, speak of the devil. It just duplicated its process x3 when I still only have one browser window open running 2 tabs. I got 3 chrome.exe files running, taking up 13k, 23k and 37k. Darn, and I thought it was going to be a very high-quality BETA browser. Looks like it settles for just "good". Better than IE8's BETA at least.
