Dragonclaw
Hello to all of my fellow writers. It's Dragonclaw! Below is my application to the paper:

1. Why I would like to join: I wish to contribute back to the site that has helped me so much throughout playing RuneScape.

2. Desired section: Technololgy, however I will contribute to where ever is needed.

3. My experience: I write for my school newspaper under any section needed. I once had my article featured in the local newspaper.

4. My example:
Chrome

Chrome... A newly released browser. Many have been wondering, what is it? How well is it compared to other major browsers such as, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox? Read along to find out!

For a while now, Google has had a rivalry with Microsoft, creators of what could be named some of the best operating systems of all time. Names like these show up to be the Windows series. Microsoft now has their newest operating system, Windows Vista, out and running. They also contain a search engine rivalry, Google vs. MSN. Apparently, a new bout comes between the new companies. This time to prove who has the better browser.

Many compete with Internet Explorer (Safari, Firefox to name a few) and continuously there are bouts between them. Now apparently, Google wants to take the lead.

Now, Google now takes on Microsoft with a new web browser, Chrome. This new browser brings a new look to all things web, but it also may have some downs to this new addition into web browsing.

Chrome presents you with a sleek appearance, much of which attracts many browser users. The tabs it holds are easy-to-use and do not waste much time when using them. The contents on newly opened tabs show you pages of website's you've been to the most, allowing you to efficiently browse the internet with ease. Google made a smart move in adding this addition to tabs, however, the privacy level on this new browser could use a little work for the moment. They do offer you different ways to control your Internet privacy.

It does not feature the covering of any passwords and such. This allows anyone and everyone to view passwords you have entered into forms.

Chrome does put up a good fight with Microsoft however. They inteded to place in things with the browser that you use on a normal computer. These include: e-mail, photo editing, word processing, etc.

Something that does strengthen Chrome is it's efficient use of JavaScript. It strengthens the use of it with the use of that browser. It makes Web pages more interactive and easy to use. Chrome's use of JavaScript is excellent. JavaScript is known to eat up computer processer power, and if it is used improperly, it may cause the browser to close. Chrome, however, ensures that if the browser tab crashes, it will not close the entire browser.

Chrome does tend to slow down other programs while running to ensure speed on the browser. It also eats up the room in your central processing unit (CPU). JavaScript may be a culprit, but it isn't. Another program used to run Chrome, and many other resources that we use on the computer such as YouTube Videos: Adobe System's Flash plug-in. The down side you ask? Merely even having YouTube up while you are inactive will cause you to lose power from your CPU. Meaning you will not have enough space to store other files. As outrageous as this may be, the plug-in goes to work on it's own! This means you have no control over what goes on in you CPU, and what get's extracted from it.

So apparently, so far Chrome isn't off to a great start. It is in BETA for now, so many hope things will get better once it is fully released. Microsoft is apparently getting the better of the situation at the moment, but that may change in time.

Thanks,

Twist of Fate
I suggest starting one from scratch. A piece really does help.

I found some work of mine and uploaded it. I hope it's alright.

It's adequate and newspaper-quality, in my opinion.
The only thing I recommend is for you to brush up on transitions to keep the flow going.
