Full Version: Finway's Collection Of Works
Sal's RuneScape Forum > Everything... Not RuneScape > The Story Mat > RuneScape Stories
Finway
Hi everyone. As some of you know, I'm the author of some quite popular Runescape stories, such as Demon Tide, Curse of Zamorak, and Age Of Zaros, among others. I decided to make this post to give everyone whose enjoyed my works a chance to read them again, and for those who haven't yet read my stories, an opportunity to see them. I hope you like what you see. happy.gif

Completed Novels:
Age Of Zaros
This 'novel' was my debut story here on Sal's Forum. It was very popular, and I completed around New Years of 2008. It was started October 2007, and I've always regarded it as a primary example of my early work here on Sal's.

Age Of War
This is the sequel to Age Of Zaros, and was completed a month and a half after I finished that 'novel.' I was rushing the story, especially towards the end, but I still think it is worthy of mention here.

The Curse of Zamorak Series
This is the crown jewel of all my work here on Sal's. This is not only my longest novelesque story here on Sal's, but it's my personal favorite as well. It is divided into three distinct parts, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. It also is one of the most viewed and commented on stories ever. cool.gif

Brothers At Arms
This is my latest story. It tells about the horrors of the Godwars, but from a soldiers viewpoint. I recently finished this small novel, and you can now view it by clicking the link above.

In total, my completd novels have topped 30,000 views. I thank you all for that. wub.gif

Short Stories:
The Ape God
This story was a short piece describing how Marimbo became the Ape god.

The Gifts of Guthix
This story was a short filler I needed to write in between novels. I hope you enjoy it. closedeyes.gif

The Sad Tale of Lord Shadwell
This was just a short little work that I made over a year ago. Nothing much to it, I must say.

Foreshadow
This story tells the tale of Iban as a boy, the one who would become a black knight and boldly lead Zamorak's forces against Saradomin.

Stories
This is one of my personal favorite short stories of mine. It tells the tale of an old man and how he handles being mocked for his so-called 'fairy tales.'

Endurance of Hope
This tale tells of a farmer boy during the Godwars. Another one that I consider one of my better works.

Against the Will
This short story tells of the atrocities committed not during the Godwars, but before them. In it I try to bring out 'The Devourer,' a now lost god who probably had a significantly larger following back-in-the-day.

A Great Lament
Alright, here it is. This is "A Great Lament," my most widely acclaimed short story. On my other short story topics I often recieve comments such as "This is really good, but not as good as A Great Lament." I also would like to add that this is the most popular short story ever on these forums, reaching over three thousand views and over one hundred replies with seven pages of them.

Of the Shadows
This story tells about the demon leader Gorath Tor and his ecounter with Sliske, the great Mahjarrat lord of the shadows.

Rebirth to Ruin*NEW*
This is a newer short story of mine, made to celebrate my two year anniversary here in the Runescape Stories section of the Story Mat of Sal's. The story is about Amascut and her transformation from the goddess of rebirth to the goddess of destruction, a title she currently holds in the Runescape universe today.

In total, all of my short stories have grossed well over ten thousand views. Thank you guys. happy.gif

Other:
The Wilderness
This was a Runescape poem I made comemorating the adventures of a person in the wilderness.

As a grand total, my stories in total have reached roughly forty thousand views. And that's all because of you, my viewers. holiday.gif

That's all I have now. Please try to enjoy my writings, whether you've read them before or not! And please, feel free to leave a comment if you wish, I always welcome feedback. Also, if I have left anything out, please feel free to tell me. I am a pretty forgetful person. happy.gif
Dad
As often as I disagree with you, I have heard many of your stories (I have only read one or two) are GOOD. I may read them later, it's too late now, though.
Finway
Sounds good. rolleyes.gif

Let's just not let our differences in opinion shape our opinions in the Story Mat.

I'll try. tongue.gif

Just read my stories and soon. I don't want any of them to die. huh.gif

Finway is indeed the best author in RuneScape Stories and I never knew he wrote so many books! I only considered Curse of Zamorak Book 1 and 2, Demon Tide, and Age of Zaros to be his only works... guess I didn't see the others. How stupid of me! tongue.gif
Finway
I think Curse of Zamorak and Demon Tide are what represent me best, simply because they're my latest 'novels,' but I've always felt a longing for the wars and actions that Age of Zaros and Age of War contain. happy.gif

Well then, I better get on with the reading! Age of Zaros first! smile.gif

I'd like to add that, to better understand my way of writing, and possibly how I've developed as writer over my last year here at Sal's, to read them in the order that I posted them. happy.gif

There's just one tiny problem with your links. When I click on Demon Tide it leads me to Curse of Zamorak Book 2: The Requiem. Otherwise, the other links are fine. I suggest you fix this problem immediately before anymore people fall victim for it. rolleyes.gif
Finway
Fixed. No more victims for Curse of Zamorak anymore. happy.gif

laugh.gif Also let us know when you'll be getting back to Curse of Zamorak Book 2. As for me, I'm going to sleep. Good night!
Finway
Alrighty then. Anyone else? huh.gif

Your 'novels' are great. I have just recently joined Sal's, as you can see from my profile, and I am a aspiring writer. I hope to get some comments from the 'masters' of the story mat for my first (and unfinished, for the fact,) story, Zamorak's Hands. If you don't understand the title, perhaps if I finish this story you will understand that the title is more metaphorical than literal. I've read most of your 'novels' and think they are great, but the main flaw is that they are almost always never finished! Grr! *Pounds laptop in frustration* angry.gif Really, if you don't want to finish the others, at least finish Demon Tide!
Always hoping you will finish your dangerously awsome tales,
Luna

Even I wanted my story to be commented by the great authors of RuneScape Stories such as Po22, Finway, and Master Neverdead. Po22 and Master Neverdead haven't comment on my story, let alone read it tongue.gif, but Finway has posted one such post and that post is: "So, where's the story?". lol.

I actually want Finway to read my story, comment on it (good or bad doesn't matter, having atleast more than one post from a great writer is more than enough for me), and point out my mistakes so I can really make my story much better.

And for those of you who don't know, I'm the writer of "The Fall of Gielinor: Gods of War". I think its the second most viewed topic on the front page of RuneScape Stories biggrin.gif. But, however, it is the 19th most viewed topic (active/inactive) in the entire RuneScape Stories. Here are the top 20 stories of the RuneScape Stories (active/inactive):

1. Mage Chronicles: Book 1 by Po22 (12,655 views)
2. Fruityfed And Emanick's Reviewing Thread Of Doom! by Emanick (8,517 views)
3. The 3 Noobs by Raven (6,474 views)
4. Curse of Zamorak: Book One, The Fellowship by Finway (6,057 views)

I'll try and comment on your story today or tomorrow, but don't worry, I'll find the time soon. happy.gif

Sweet. happy.gif Oh, and I finished reading Gifts Of Guthix and The Ape God and they were, despite being only one-post short stories, really impressive! Gifts Of Guthix: I found it very intriguing, mostly because it was about my favourite God Guthix. I like the gifts which he gave to the Gods and Goddess. I found The Ape God to be more interesting as it was really sad in the ending but also showed Guthix's ignorance about what the liquid he was drinking could actually do to other people. And it really gives us the 'true' feelings of its pet monkey, Marimbo, which indirectly might tell us how most other real pets think about us. aware.gif
Luna
Ape God? I'll check that out. Trust me to comment it a masterpiece by the great Finway! *Raises goblet in a cheer*

Finway
Thanks for the positive output, guys! happy.gif

Demon Tide (well, what's there tongue.gif ) and I must say you are quite a good writer. There are numerous grammar and spelling errors, but that doesn't matter, really.
I'll read part of another story, but I doubt I'll finish it.
I think you under-use pronouns and other descriptive methods of naming without naming, though.
Also, could you please remove the &hl=<insert search items> from the links? The highlighted words are kinda annoying.

Gifts of Guthix
I would prefer not to bump a topic from that long ago, so I comment here.
Another well written story, but it lacks plot, lacks meaning. As part of a larger story (not necessarily the beginning either) I am sure it could be of great significance. But alone, it is hollow.

Wouldn't that remove the link entirely though? I haven't done much regarding hyperlinks, I'm not sure. unsure.gif

I originally intended for it to go along with my other stores (Age of Zaros, but preferably Age of War), so I understand what you mean. happy.gif

No, if you just remove that part at the end the links will still work fine.
Finway
I did it. I'm not sure if I did it right or not because nothing changed for me. unsure.gif

Yeah it worked. Now there aren't highlighted words all over the stories.

Ok, good. My bad about that, lol. happy.gif

I've read your shorter works, will go through Age of Zaros today.

Atomic Stuff
Please continue Curse of Zamorak.

I'm kinda bored of waiting but is it dead? bleh.gif
Finway
No, it's just inactive. I'll continue it when I find the time/motivation. unsure.gif
Buland
Finway, I was going through "Neverdead's Bookcase" in The Library and I read SlashingUK's reviews about your stories and I must say that you have written quite alot of books in The Library as well! I just wanted you to make another "Finway's Collection Of Works" in The Library also. smile.gif
Finway
Maybe, the thing is, though, that those stories are all much shorter that these ones here, but that is a good idea. happy.gif
Finway
As we all know, I hate double posters, but I had to do something with this thread. I made major edit to the first page (adding eight different stories to the lsit), so it shouldn't be closed. closedeyes.gif
Fake
Nice job on the new stories, I like.
Finway
Have you read Brothers At Arms yet? I thought there would be more of a crowd, as it is my latest completed novel. aware.gif
Finway
Please excuse the double post, but I revised the original page. I edited the view count, and I also added two stories ("Rebirth to Ruin" and Curse of Zamorak). Please, read this people! I don't want my stories to die. unsure.gif
