For your first question,

No, it is not free to make a website. You have to purchase a domain, from various sites like dogaddy.com or name.com, and I believe domains are somewhere around 10 bucks a piece. For your forum question, yes, there are some free forums. You can try IPBFree or InvisionFree, but there not exactly as good as IPB, which would cost around 150 bucks.

For your second quesiton,

That is almost nearly impossible. You'd have to spend about 3 years learning languages like C++, and then you'd have to buy the software to make the game. I am going to guess the software is going to be very expensive.

However, I do hope you can accomplish these things.

1) Using HTML, for the site. There is no way to make it update automatically, so you would have to do that manually. The forum is powered by IP Boards, but there are many others that give more advantages and disadvantages.

2) Well you probably want Java, i would go into more detail but you must pay attention to what i am about to say.

THIS IS HARD. If you had knowledge of HTML then you could probably create the site quite easily, the forums as well, even though they are quite different. It would take a fair ammount of time though. But i very much doubt that you will be able to create a game anything like runescape. It would take years to complete, probably decades with a one man construction team.

And to answer one of your other questions, you can make them for free, it might be advisable to buy some separate software to make the game, and you would have to pay (unless you did this yourself) to host the site and probably the forums if you want them to be much good.

And just so you know what you think you'll be able to get yourself into:

That is made using a free web hosting site. You do not want to use these. Listen: YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE THESE.

They don't give you nearly enough options and it looks like it was made by an 8 year old. There are ad banners at the top of each page that are nowhere near trustworthy and on top of all this, nobody will even go onto your site.

Ah, alright. Well, I am not so sure on that one myself, but if I were you I'd just try to google your problem. (and of course make this thread)

The website and forums are separate.

For the website, I suggest looking over some html and stuff, then you can use like freehostia.com. In order to have a domain (the name), you should use something like godaddy, but you can get a name like redmonke255.freehostia.com for free.

You can then get invisionfree forums and add a link from the website to your forums.

I might get banned for this post. so i deleted this text. But you can use flash, that might work, but it would take a while.

Uh, learn html\css for designing simple web pages. Use a free forum service for a forum because it would take to long to write your own forum with PHP, etc (no point of reinventing the wheel).

Programming a game is not fun. IF you think it's fun or easy, you're very naive. It would take a while to write a game like RS as a one man project.

You're new to the bandwagon, so i'd reccommend getting a general understanding of computer programming\ html\etc. It's not easy stuff.

1.) You learn HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL and how to implement them. You look at the forums/site/etc. and change the site content to update it. Of course you can make a site for free, using something like Notepad. Hosting is something different, though.

2.) You need an extensive knowledge of Java, you have to be a skilled graphic artist/musician, and much, much more...

If a 12 year old can do it, so can he.

Since you're new to web design, this post from another thread should help you out. It would be a waste of money to buy a domain and webhosting while you're still a beginner. That's why I recommend you get a free webhost. You can also get free forum software called phpBB 3 that I recommend. It's completely free and there are a lot of real nice modifications you can add. Like anything new, it will take time to learn how the system works, but the community will help you out along with all the documentation.

For your second question, take a look at this post. It's going to take you years to develop a game like Runescape Classic, especially if you're working alone and don't know anything about Java or C++.

I suppose. Really depends on how well you can apply programming. Like writing algorithims, which is much more difficult then learning the language. Much more then just knowing all these complex statements that will never be used.

I've been programming for about 3 years, and i'm learning a lot of new things all the time... and I still can't write RS and I bet it'll be another 3-4 years before I understand a good amount.
