I'm a little annoyed since I just bought my MacBook Pro about 1.5 months ago and now a new, better version is out that costs the same amount. Grrr. That's probably the only thing about Apple that really bothers me... surprises such as these. sad.gif I sort of knew something like this would happen though, I have very bad luck.

*Sits in corner to sulk.*

Okay, okay, it's not that bad. xd.gif I'm very happy with my laptop and I don't really have need of a better one. tongue.gif It's just slightly frustrating to know that if I had waited two months I could have gotten a higher end MPB for the same price. Meh, these things happen I suppose. There's nothing I can do about it.

I'm glad for those who waited a while longer to get their laptops and are now getting a better deal for their money. happy.gif

Great the refurbished prices will also come down allowing me to swoop in and get a great deal, it doesn't bother me they keep making better models because i could always get an upgrade!
Ivan
Finally, the update I've been waiting for. Everyone told me to get the laptop now when the old Macbook Pro came out but I waited.
Nice specs and good job keeping that same timeless design ohmy.gif

What about the Air? sad.gif Oh well--I don't like Mac keyboards. Better design though, I think.
Fencefry
The main thing that caught my interest is that now the trackpad is entirely galss, and the actual mouse click button is gone, now you just click the pad...

Well, it's always nicer having better specs, same price!

forgot about the air xd

air got a 9400M, 120GB HD optional 128GB SSD , port for a display, 2G 1066 MHz DDR3 ram
Doom
That's actually pretty good, better than what I expected. The price drop is nice as well. ohmy.gif
Bob-sama
The Air is more tempting now: did they convert to a Penryn design yet? Oh, and is it still using a glossy LCD? I hate glossy LCDs.

EDIT: Looks like they're using a 3MB Penryn chip now. Pretty cool. I wish they still offered the 64GB SSD as well: 128GB is overkill in my opinion and not worth $500.

Nothing to make me wish I didn't buy my 2.4Ghz MacBook a month ago. I'm not exactly liking the black on the new MacBooks, either. I like my pure white one.

That Display looks really good, though. I'd get it if I it wasn't going to be $800 USD. Too bad they didn't make them compatible with Mac Pro's and Mac Minis. Maybe someone will create an adapter...

I agree with you, I almost posted something similar. I don't like the black keyboard and how there's more space between the buttons either. Also, what was the point in removing the mouse click from the track pad? I like having it. pfft.gif

But still, the actual laptop upgrades make up for those. tongue.gif
Bob-sama
I almost never use the click bar on my EeePC--it's a multitouch pad, which is nice. I am more interested now in the basic Air--and if I could find a SSD for it (32-64GB), I would definitely enjoy having an Air. Doesn't matter much to me: I don't have much money, so if it comes and I'm still looking for a replacement for my EeePC, that new Air looks like a winner to me.
Stobbo
They do luck much better now, the Macbook look was something I especially despised. I'll take a look at them when I next go to PC World, photos always make them look better than they are in real life. tongue.gif
Natt39
Damn.... and I was so hoping the price would come down this time too..... censored.gif It Actually went UP by quite a considerable amount. They do look allot better though....
Falcon
I was blown away when I saw the new one, I am currently saving my money for it, the only thing that I am not happy about is the fact that apple only bumped the price of the old mac book down $100, if it was more, I might consider buying the old one instead of the new one.

More space between the keys? Ugh. I love my MacBook keyboard, I don't want it to change. I actually like the new track pad idea. I wished my MacBook could have done finger clicks. I was annoyed when I first got it, but I've gotten over it. tongue.gif

Yeah, DDR3 RAM will be nice on the MacBooks, along with those graphic cards. Doesn't make much difference. I don't use mine for any gaming.

You know you can buy refurbished for even cheaper now probably, right? I'm guessing $100-$200 cheaper.

Not happy that the new Displays are compatible with only the new MacBooks - makes everyone buy the new ones. xd Also, I think the 17" MacBook Pro should have joined its siblings in the visual upgrades.

Oh well, I'll be sticking with this MacBook until I go to university. At that point I'll buy whatever's current. Probably a 15" or 17".

As I've seen in a lot of rant videos on YouTube, glossy + pro machine = RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEEE.

I don't really care about glossy screens as I don't do anything like photoshop anyway.

I should be getting a new laptop in the next 6-8 months so hopefully I'll get a new macbook. I like them. smile.gif

Hmm, the all glass touchpad is a good idea. Sometimes my touchpad gets a little hard to use (not as slippery) and it gets really annoying.

I would have liked them to keep the button. I can't stand tapping to click. bleh.gif

How accurate is that? Surely isn't it pretty much guesswork. pfft.gif
Natt39
No.... well sort of....
Apple have a habit of renewing the same products at the same time each year(eg the Ipod is always September), that coupled with how long the hardware has been on the market you could make a pretty accurate guess.....

The Mac Mini has said "Don't Buy - Updates soon" for as long as I can remember. Some lines like the iPod might be predictable, but I can't see how they can predict some of the lines which aren't updates on schedule. pfft.gif

I reckon that they've completely forgotten about the mini......

Rumor is the Mac Mini and iMac are getting hardware updates pretty soon. ohmy.gif And nobody can accurately predict updates of course, but when it comes to new Mac/iPod updates, rumors start to circulate about a month ahead of the actual announcement; and that's a pretty good indicator for new upcoming updates. (Not to mention that Apple itself spreads about half of those rumors to build a hype for their new products)

Anywho, I bought an older MacBook yesterday. I'd wanted to buy one of the new MacBooks, but there was a sale in a store with a 400 euro (roughly 600 dollars) discount on the old black one. Seeing as it had more HDD space, a faster processor and for 300 euros less, I decided to go with this one. I'm not a big fan of LED displays on computers anyway. (Too much contrast for me)

The new Macbooks look great on pictures, but in my opinion, they're not quite as good-looking when you actually see one. Sure, they still beat just about any other notebook on the market looks-wise (it's still Apple we're talking about) - but to me, the design doesn't suit a 13" super-portable notebook. On the other hand, the design is a great fit for the Macbook Pro. Also because it simply looks a lot better on a larger laptop IMO.

It's annoying to me that Apple really didn't enhance the specs too much on the Macbook, besides of course the Nvidia GeForce 9400M.
People were expecting price drops, but nope, price increases. You'd think with the economy in the fragile state it is, Apple would lay off the prices? I love the designs on both the Macbook and Macbook Pro, although I would have liked to see separate designs (Aesthetically) for the MB and MBP. I like the idea of all Green but honestly that seems to be the marketing strategy.. Talk about how eco friendly they are. I like the LED backlights, and I LOVE the fact that the MB now has a BACKLIT KEYBOARD.

I'm happy with the updates all in all smile.gif

Follow intel/nvidia trends and you get a pretty good idea.

Like the next macbook pro will be nforce with 9200GS/9300GS IGP with 9600m GT hybrid sli iirc.
Also penryn update with macs (if thats not out already?)

I like samsung rose red myself smile.gif

I just don't really like the contrast. For portable devices, they're fantastic. But the ones on the new MacBooks just looked kind of disturbingly contrasting to me.
Acid
what do you mean by contrast? LED backlighting "ups" the contrast ratio a lot but thats not a bad thing.

p.s. i quite like the macbooks design smile.gif i just want to imagine myself with one of those samsungs and a 42" rose red TV biggrin.gif

Personally, I don't like over-saturated contrast. tongue.gif

Maybe apple did it wrong then i haven't seen one of these new macbooks or mac pros up close (in fact i've never seen a mac pro up close). But LED screens is the exact opposite of "over-saturated" contrast biggrin.gif.

I wonder if they'll bring out new imacs as well soon.

Popped into PC World today and took a look at them and to be honest, I was disappointed. The pictures on the web make them look much better than they really do, more so than usual. Also, they had a 24" iMac there and tbh, it is too big. tongue.gif

True, true. I'm not actually upset about it though, was just a little annoyed. tongue.gif The reason I said that was because Apple keeps making new generations (the iPod classic is on it's 6th generation now..?) whilst other company's usually just opt to make a new laptop for the series rather than continually enhance the old ones. At least... I thought it was that way. laugh.gif

Went into the Apple store a few days ago and had a look at all the new laptops. I LOVED the aluminium, I didn't like the keyboard or the touchpad and I didn't really look at the screen (in depth lol). I honestly didn't notice the difference in size between the MacBook and MacBook Pro, which I found surprising, and I think the MacBook Air, when it gets 4gb memory, will be the best creation since sliced bread!!

The most amusing thing from that visit was the iMac sporting XP Pro connected to a Mighty Mouse which I tried and was unimpressed - the cursor moved only a fraction when it was on a table and it didn't fit in my hand at all.
