Name a time where an Advertisement on the web, T.V., Billboard, or fat guy in a costume holding a sign made you be a "consumer" of that product.

They most certainly do work; otherwise they wouldn't be used.

Most of the stuff I watch on TV, I hear about due to adverts between TV programmes. I've bought DVDs purely on the advertising at the start of a film.

I have a twisted view of advertisements and as Stobbo said, if they didn't work, they wouldnt generate millions of dollars for the TV stations hosting the ads (on TV of course) because it wouldn't be justified. However the way I believe I am most affected by advertisements is the gaming business, and this is the twisted part, personally I believe reviewers are relatively biased towards the games that have caused them more revenue, giving them a better review than one that hasn't for instance, Kane & Lynch was highly rated on Gamespot yet no where else i knew of. Anyway i may be wrong but this is just my feeling .

Not for me. But i'm not very gullible at all. If i see an advert for something i would buy i will have already known about it from another source.

Who would get tricked by an advertisement on the web?
Around here, you dont want to buy from advertisements on TV, they get you high bills.. (1000 NOK is serious cases)
Its best to stay away from service advertisements for a wallpaper, screensaver or that kind for phones.
But some things like phones are ok, and TVs, or a grill, or tools..
