What id SalCast was transformed into a Radio.... like Zybez, but designed by us for us. Sure it would cost a lot more money, but it'd be really interesting to listen to tongue.gif

I'm going to have to say "No".

While Zybez makes it work you have to remember they have far more members that donate then we do, specifically:
97 people for this month alone who made donations.

Also you have to remember they did have trouble with the bandwidth which means it would be moreso for us AND in addition Sal is low on money.

The only thing I could agree on is if this ever did get implemented - We could definitely make it far MORE desirable to listen to than Zybez's (like that one DJ of theirs that went "Bullies, I make good fishy" for 5 freakin minutes twice while he was on, Lord Earth can back me up on that).

And I could DJ at certain times as well, if someone told me the basics of how this works.

Hosting a radio show as itself wouldn't be a problem, a select few of us do know how to do it and it's easy to learn about. All the points cxkslei has made stand though, in the current situation actually running one could be quite hectic. I have a project underway that is like a radio show however it's already recorded coming out in weekly bursts, if it's accepted it might be quite a nice little addition and very different to the salcast.

Shoutcast would not work for the SalCast:

1. It is nearly impossible to have more then 1 person on the station at a time.
2. It is hard to switch/set-up different hosts, they dont have any type of support for this.
3. The free bandwith provided doesnt supply nearly enough listeners for Sal's Realm.

The Salcast isn't very popular yet, maybe we should wait a little. Take it slowly.

Yeah, I am still waiting for smoother conversations as well. tongue.gif I would think, though, that a radio would give a major boost in popularity, and the boost may be just what was needed.

Problems:
1) It costs money. As of now, we have very little if not no affiliation with money.
2) Radio shows are normally on 24 hours of day. How are we supposed to do this? And even if it only aired for an hour, that's still a huge chunk of time.
3) This, for the most part, eliminates the need for writers and puts much more strain on the hosts.
4) You need to start with some popularity to gain some. Radio would probobly not be a major boost.

Salcast is and should always stay an episodic podcast, in my opinion.

I would love seeing live recordings, however, as currently everyone talks as if they are reading for a dull book-on tape.

We're trying to fix that right now, but radio is not the answer sad.gif

Yes, I know, as it'll be too hard to manage. tongue.gif It's just that having a live recording, but still releasing it episodically as a podcast, would be much better than just combining and editing separate tapes to give a boring experience.
