I'm look for a free program for unzipping files. Mainly zip files but if it works with .rar files that's even better.

WinRAR is the typical suggestion.

Isn't it shareware/nagware/whateverware?

7zip is a rather nifty program, and it is free (and open source).

Nagware. And 7-Zip I've used as well. I prefer WinRAR's shell integration to that of other programs.

Not if you use the right-click shortcuts. I also recommend WinRAR. I've been quite pleased with it over the years.

I recommend 7zip also smile.gif

Winrar as absolutely never failed me, and if you get scared by the 'trial' version, just download it, you can still run it forever afterwards smile.gif.

I use IZarc. Very useful programme indeed. I just wish Microsoft wouldn't be so lazy and just make a utility to unzip all these different file formats rather than just a few. Or maybe I'm just being optimistic...

WinRar would be my recommendation as well, in fact it was recommended to me in this forum in my thread lolz (the point I was getting across was about searching forums...)

I use a combo of 7-ZIP (for 7zip files and all the rest) and WinAce (for those pesky .ace files). I've yet to find a good solution for both formats.

i hate winrar. i like to use extractnow (free) for .rar files just drag and drop and the windows unzip feature for zip folders
